Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Kevin, unaware of Mia’s thoughts, stood nearby, inhaling her enticing scent and feeling a flood of thoughts in his mind. He knew that once the shoe was repaired, he would have no excuse to stay with Mia. He needed to leave a lasting impression on her during this precious time. However, facing his dream woman, he found himself at a loss for words. Besides the knowledge that she had been married for three years and had no children, he knew almost nothing about her, not even her hobbies. As time ticked by, Kevin struggled to think of how to start a conversation with Mia.

Finally, it was Mia who broke the silence, perhaps finding it awkward to sit quietly. She looked up and asked Kevin, "Do you usually ride your bike to school?"

"Oh, no, I usually walk to school. My house is close." Kevin quickly replied, feeling a surge of joy. Mia initiating a conversation meant his efforts were worthwhile.

Mia asked a few more casual questions before blurting out, "I see you get along well with Mrs. Cortez. What do you think of her?"

Kevin was taken aback and unsure why Mia would ask this. He thought for a moment and replied vaguely, "Mrs. Cortez is great. Her lectures are excellent, and she explains everything thoroughly. She’s especially experienced in composition. Several students from our class won awards in the last school composition contest."

"Really?" Mia looked at Kevin with interest. "Mrs. Cortez mentioned that your English is quite good. What place did you get in the contest?"

"I got second place." Kevin said proudly. It was one of his few achievements, and he wanted Mia to know.

"Really? That’s impressive." Mia was indeed impressed. In the last composition contest, a few students from her class participated, but the best result was ninth place. She remembered the first-place winner was a boy named Jason Black but she had yet to notice who came in second. The second place for Kevin was quite an achievement, which confirmed Camila’s high opinion of him. Mia thought it was natural for Camila to favor such a student, as any teacher would appreciate a student who brought them pride. As long as this favoritism didn’t turn into something else, it was fine.

Kevin finally found a topic that interested Mia. He seized the opportunity to ask her for some composition tips, unknowingly closing the distance between them. Seeing Mia’s enthusiastic response, Kevin boldly asked, "Ms. Wilson, if I ever have more English questions, may I come to your office for help?"

Mia looked surprised and said, "Why don’t you ask Mrs. Cortez? She’s been teaching English for many years and has much more experience than I do. Besides, she might get upset if she finds out."

"Oh, it’s just that..." Kevin quickly thought of an excuse, "Mrs. Cortez is great, but she’s sometimes too strict with us. I’m scared to ask her questions."

Mia chuckled and said, "Alright, you can come to me, but don’t let Mrs. Cortez know." Kevin was overjoyed that Mia agreed. He had finally taken the first step to get closer to her. Now, he could visit her under the pretext of seeking help, though he had to keep it a secret from Camila.

Mia had her reasons for agreeing. She genuinely thought Kevin was smart and promising. She was willing to help any student with a passion for learning, regardless of whether they were in her class. Additionally, she hoped to divert Kevin’s attention from Camila. She had noticed Kevin frequently visiting Camila and acting suspiciously around her. Mia didn’t want any scandal involving her friend, so she planned to subtly redirect Kevin’s focus.

Unfortunately, Mia didn’t know that Kevin and Camila had already slept together, and Kevin’s next target was her. By agreeing to help him, she was unknowingly making it easier for him to get close to her.

### The Journey Home

Soon, the repairman finished his job. Mia handed the repairman two dollars, and he smiled and said, "The glue needs a few hours to fully function. If you have any shoe problems, come to me. I’ll give you a discount."

Kevin glanced at the repairman, thinking what a nice dream he was having. He had already ogled Mia’s legs for a long time and still didn’t have enough.

Mia hesitated. Although her home wasn’t far, she worried the heel might break again on the way. But she couldn’t wait here for hours. Kevin quickly suggested, "Ms. Wilson, how about me giving you a ride home? If the heel breaks again, it will be a trouble."

Having already ridden with Kevin once, Mia was quick enough this time. She sat on the bike again. This time, in a more comfortable way, she wrapped her arms around Kevin’s waist and rested her soft body against his back. If it weren’t for Kevin’s school uniform, people might think they were a couple returning home from work.

Mia lived in the South District, not far away, but the road had some rough patches that made her buttocks sore. However, Kevin thoroughly enjoyed the ride, relishing the feeling of Mia’s breasts pressing against his back. He wished the entire route was like this.

After pedaling up a slope, they reached the alley where Mia lived. It was a narrow, dark alley with no streetlights, which made it look a bit scary.

"Why is it so dark?" Kevin frowned, worried about the possibility of encountering any troublemakers.

"There used to be a light, but some kids broke it, and it hasn’t been fixed." Mia explained, feeling helpless. She always felt a bit scared walking home through the dark alley.

"Ms. Wilson, let me walk you in." Kevin offered. He was unable to see the path clearly so he let Mia stay on the bike while he pushed it to her door.

Mia got off the bike and, seeing Kevin’s sweaty face in the moonlight, hesitated before saying, "You look exhausted. Why don’t you come in and rest for a while before heading back?" Since her husband went on a business trip, Mia had never let any strange man into her home, both to avoid any potential harm and to prevent neighbors from gossiping. However, after today’s interaction, she found Kevin to be a nice student who had helped her a lot and even escorted her home. It seemed unkind not to show some hospitality. Plus, Kevin was just a student, so she wasn’t worried about any rumors.

Kevin was thrilled at this unexpected invitation.
