Chapter 200: He Remembered

Ariana stared at the hat. She was just at a loss for words as she did not even know what to say at this point. She could not really believe what she saw, as she did not expect this.

To think that a hat she had told her husband about years ago would actually be done shocked her. She was still astonished. How had he managed to get the hat? Had he already brought it and it had been at the royal palace? She was very curious, but now she just fell silent.

Zavren’s eyes remained on her as he made sure to see her reaction. He paid close attention. He did not mind at all how obvious he was staring and finally, just what he was waiting for, Ariana shifted her gaze to him and their eyes locked.

A smile rested on his lips as his eyes glinted. Ariana’s lips opened and closed. She was now feeling more emotional now that their eyes were locked. To think that he would actually remember a talk they had when she had no voice, the conversation they had when she wrote it on a book, made her heart melt deeply. Who knew that he would actually bring it?

The silence remained and no one dared to break it. The seer silently watched. Raven, who was brave enough, finally cleared his throat as he spoke obviously.

"Your Highness, the hat is here." It was finally then Ariana shifted her gaze to Raven. Zavren’s expression turned dull as he turned to Raven as well. Raven immediately panicked as he used a nervous smile to calm himself down a bit, knowing that the king’s annoyance was just because the queen’s attention was no longer on him. That was why he was mad, and that was all.

If he had known, he would not have dared to clear his throat because right now the atmosphere was so suffocating like the king wanted to slice his throat himself.

"This king is getting more and more obsessed with the queen," he said to himself, surprised by the way Zavren’s possessiveness seemed to increase more and more as the days go by.

The seer, noticing the tension, then spoke softly.

"Luna Ariana has been very much interested in seeing the past, and it was a little bit hard to see that, especially to send somebody that was not related or had not seen the past before, as there would be slight pain before you could access it. But given there is a link from the past, which is the hat, it would be so much easier and less painfull, and you would be able to access some parts that most of us were unable to."

Ariana’s heart skipped as she heard the seer’s words. Was she going to the past or was she seeing the past?

For some unknown reason excitement bubbled in, but she held it back because she knew how long she had told the seer she wanted to go to the past. Her sole purpose was to check if there was a hint or anything to stop the war, but now she did not really need that. Her husband was awake, so she could just see the past now.

"Is there something more you want to say?" Ariana asked curiously, noticing the seer’s brief pause.

The seer nodded as she spoke.

"Anytime you are ready to see the past, it could be done," she finally said with a bow.

Ariana could have simply asked Zavren’s mother about this, but she did not usually say all and Ariana knew that Zavren had not even seen her yet, given she was still asleep.

Meanwhile the displeasure on Zavren’s face was very much noticeable. His face was as stony as ever. He did not look welcoming at all, and the seer felt it. She and Raven both prayed silently that the queen would decline and maybe next time Ariana would check the past.

Ariana finally nodded, and the seer and Raven finally took a deep breath. They could finally leave, at least breathe a little.

"I would love to see it now," Ariana spoke with a smile. The seer and Raven turned to look at each other. They had celebrated too soon. Their faces looked pleading as they really wanted to leave even though the king was silent. The displeasure was very visible on his face.

"About that, it would take a lot of time to see it so I advise you take your time and choose a date, your grace," Raven immediately spoke. All he wanted to do now was leave. He knew better than to be on the king’s bad side.

"No, Mister Raven, that is why I should do it now and then leave it." Immediately those words left her lips, Zavren’s face darkened even more. Raven scratched the back of his head as he managed a small smile before turning to Zavren whose cold eyes were on him.

"Right Hus— Am I right, Your Majesty?" Ariana spoke with a wide smile on her lips as she turned to Zavren, whose face immediately softened like a bucket of water had splashed on him or a balm had finally been placed on his wound. Just as Raven expected but was still shocked by, the coldness in the air diminished into nothingness. His expression was so soft no one would believe he had been the one who had summoned such an intimidating air.

"Yes, wife." Zavren finally calmed a bit. He could wait. Then after this he would be able to spend more time with her without disturbance. It seemed he really needed to take her to the royal island. Maybe that way no one would disturb them and they would spend as much time as possible together.

"We would be leaving to the room to do it then," she said. She turned to Raven, who bowed at them and spoke softly.

"I will be leaving now, Your Majesty and Your Grace, as I need to check on the fish food that will be distributed today." Ariana gave him a curt nod. Zavren said nothing as he waited for his wife to give the order.

Raven finally sighed in relief as he turned. He knew he would be punished, but he prayed silently his punishment would not be brutal.

Ariana, Zavren, and the seer finally entered the room. The seer dropped the box gently on the table as she walked toward the bed and stood as she began to mutter some words. She was testing if this room was perfect for what she was about to chant, if the connection was smooth.

Ariana bit her lips, holding back her excitement. Zavren watched, curious as to why she was so excited to go to the past even though he would not have allowed her go now since it was just news that came to her. Still, the excitement in her eyes was enough to shut him up.

"Oh wife, why are you so excited?" Zavren asked curiously as he watched the excitement on her face. She bit her lips softly as she moved, holding his arms, as she locked gaze lovingly with him. With a wide smile she replied:

"I am so excited because I want to see the little you." She spoke, and Zavren stilled. The seer opened her eyes as she turned just when Zavren was about to say something.

The room was simply decorated, the bed well arranged.

"We can start now, Luna Ariana, whenever you are ready," she said. Ariana nodded. She was now holding Zavren’s hands. Zavren was simply speechless. Now he wondered if her excitement was because she wanted to see when he had taken that painting with the gown.

They walked as the seer gestured Ariana to sit.

She calmly sat on the bed as she waited for the next thing the seer would say.

The seer walked to the table as she chanted something.

"Zavren...I love you," she spoke softly. Zavren chuckled at his wife’s over dramatic behavior. She was acting like they would not see each other after a long time.

"I love you more, my sweet snowflakes," he smiled as the seer gently placed the hat on Ariana’s head.

"Please lay on the bed. Do not bother about the hat." Ariana did not know but immediately the hat landed on her head, she had a very different feeling, like the past just kept flashing in her eyes. That mixed feeling, she really missed her mum.

Ariana moved as she laid. Zavren gently held her back as he helped her balance without the hat falling off.

Ariana’s eyes locked with his.

"Your Highness, if you are so excited to see the little me, go ahead then," he spoke softly to Ariana as she nodded with a smile, her stomach backflipping with butterflies, the way he had said "Your Highness."

Finally, the seer began to chant. Ariana’s eyes closed and before she knew it, everything turned black.
