Chapter 47 - Salary Negotiation and New Comrades

"A fire-type cultivation method!" I stated my first demand.

Bickar grinned. "Easy. What else do you require?"

That easy? I had thought Invidia’s cultivation method was reserved for noble families. Oh well, I asked for something else.

"I have two baggage I was carrying along. You sure you can handle those?"

Bickar raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms. I thought he caught the hints.

"What are your baggages?"

"One is a cunning fox who is supposed to represent Constantia. Another one is my pet fox."

I hoped he understood the hints. I didn’t want to make it too obvious since Slavus’s master was also quite a troublesome young master. We might have fought if he knew there were two gorgeous women in the castle that I wanted to bring to Invidia.

Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t simp for them. I had to own up to my mistake because I had altered the game’s storyline.

In the game, Lenitia and Lia discovered Troturre’s coup d’état scheme and fought him, but they were defeated. The King of Constantia was killed, and Troturre surrendered the country to Zoli. However, Zoli killed Troturre and took over Constantia for himself. The survivors and main characters of Constantia banded together and joined forces with Invidia for revenge later on.

Since I was the one who killed Troturre, the storyline drastically changed. The King of Constantia was still alive. The takeover events didn’t happen. There would be no compelling reason for the protagonists in Garuda Stand Fortress to join the Grand War and clash with Zoli and other villainous kings.

I needed to drag Constantia into the war. Otherwise, this world wouldn’t follow the script. Who knew what the King of Superbia, the level 9 light-type musou knight, would do in a world without OP main characters from this city. I didn’t want to take up arms and fight the mofo myself. None of my business!

Bickar stared into my eyes and firmly nodded.

"You mean, the princess of Constantia and your wife?"

The guy was sharp, but was there a need to clarify it out loud?

As I expected, Slavus and the people in dark clothes gave us meaningful looks. The general smirked and uttered in a hoarse, deep voice.

"Did you fuck the princess, boy?"

The black-clothed men burst into laughter. I rolled my eyes and facepalmed. Since it had come to this, I confessed.

"No. I did her attendant right in front of the princess."

The laughter grew even louder. Slavus walked toward me and slapped my back.

"My apologies! I take my words back. You’re not a boy! You’re a great man!"

I staggered forward one step. The strength of this brute surprised me. Thank God I didn’t have to fight him.

Still, our voices attracted too much attention. I could hear the distinct crunch of boots and the rising volume of shouts, drawing nearer behind me.

I turned to Bickar and tilted my head, urging him to hurry and make his decision.

"So? Can you handle them?"

Bickar’s eyes narrowed. "Your wife? Yes, she can go with you. The princess, I’m not confident. This requires decisions from the higher-ups. I can’t make that decision alone, or my head will roll."

"If you don’t bring her along, I won’t accept your invitation." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Bickar’s expression turned dark. He scratched his head and started pacing while glancing behind me. After a few seconds of contemplation, he groaned.

"Fine! But if anything turns sour afterward, you’ll take responsibility later!"

"Great. One last thing."

"What?"

Bickar sounded annoyed. I didn’t blame him because I would have too.

"I have a hobby, a pottery hobby. Help me build a pottery workshop so that I can enjoy making pots. Also, I like vases. Deliver me some fine vases or jars when we arrived. The bigger, the better."

"What? That’s it?"

"Yup!" I grinned.

"Deal! Let’s move!"

"Awesome!"

I couldn’t help but clap my hands.

Slavus patted my back again. I mean, it didn’t hurt, but his gauntlet and his big hand stunned me.

When I turned around to protest, Slavus already faced the incoming troops. While crossing his arms, he stomped.

Towering over the scene, one hundred two-meter-tall humanoid golems rose from the earth. Their stony gazes fixed on the approaching soldiers.

"W-What are those?!"

"M-Monsters!"

I remembered this scene. If players picked a main character from Zoli’s faction, they would face Slavus in a scenario. The Golem Creation skill was his ultimate musou, which he commonly used at the start of battle. If players allowed Slavus to fill his musou gauge, he would spam this ability and filled the battlefield with his battle golems. Combined with his DPS tank combat style, Slavus was a formidable scenario boss.

But here, he was my ally. I wondered if it was temporary or permanent.

The golems marched toward the fortress’s soldiers, who ran away from the monsters. The earth golems pursued along the main street.

Chaotic combat sounds echoed through the town. I couldn’t see the fight, but I could imagine the golems dominating the ragtag soldiers of Troturre.

Now, this made me curious what kind of deal Bickar and Cash Fraus had. Why was Slavus here supporting him?

"Let’s go, fire knight. We go fetch your women!" Slavus laughed.

I refuted, "Correction. I have nothing to do with the princess. She’s just an assurance."

"Same-same. You’ll fuck her eventually since she already saw your deed. Bahahahaha!"

"..."

I was speechless. Slavus turned out to be more frank and friendly than I had expected.

I didn’t hate it, though. There was an undeniable charm about him that eased the surrounding tension. No homo.

Bickar suggested, "Let’s take this chance and enter the fortress first. Once we’re inside, we can contact your women and PERSUADE them yourself."

"No caps, please."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing, sir."

I slapped my mouth lightly. I took a mental note not to reveal my inner monologue.

Bickar and Slavus took the lead. The black-clothed men and I followed them.

The good thing about siding with a major villain faction was the convenience. Those two big shots cut down soldiers on the way.

Arriving at the gate, the soldiers in the fortress pulled the drawbridge up, but Slavus created a new one for us anyway. He led the charge and tanked all the arrows from the archers. In seconds, he broke the old drawbridge and the gate, leading the troops into the castle.

Within an hour, Troturre’s troops inside surrendered. I hadn’t even lifted a finger since Slavus and Bickar did the heavy lifting, and no musou knight stood in our way.

I returned to the castle, where Lia and Lenitia were.
