Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race-Chapter 335 - Private Lesson with Water God
At the Combat Temple, in a small dojo built near the main Arenas, two young women were dueling inside a wide wooden hall.
The first had short black hair that reached her shoulders. Her deep blue eyes carried a naturally mysterious air.
She was extremely beautiful, with a very voluptuous body, and wore tight swordswoman attire that made no effort whatsoever to hide her ample bust.
She waited for her opponent to make the first move, holding her golden sword in a classic defensive stance of the Water God Style.
The other woman dressed in a similar fashion. She had blue hair and eyes and, although she was not as eye-catching as the first, she was an unquestionable beauty.
Her stance as a swordswoman was the complete opposite of her opponent’s — a high offensive posture, characteristic of the Sword God Style.
Although the Beast God Style had stood out and gained great visibility in recent years, these styles still possessed unique strengths.
Proof of that was the fact that the two greatest swordsmen in the world — the Beast God and the Martial God — practiced all of these styles at the same time.
Obviously, that was not something just anyone could do.
And those two women were not of that kind. Both had chosen to focus solely on refining their own strengths.
The dojo door creaked lightly as someone entered.
Even before the sound spread through the hall, the blue-haired swordswoman attacked with the Longsword of Light, crossing the dojo fast enough to make the entire structure tremble, despite the special wood used in its construction.
But before her strike could land, she felt as though she had stepped into hostile territory — a space where her enemy had absolute control.
The sound of metal scraping rang out, as fast as the sound of flesh being cut.
The attacking swordswoman’s hand flew off along with the longsword, while her opponent’s golden blade stopped mere millimeters from slicing her head off.
Silence stretched for a brief moment as the swordswoman stared, stunned, at her own severed hand.
Then, the pain finally reached her.
"AAAAAAH! Reida, you psychopath! You cut my hand off! Have you lost your mind?!"
She tried to stop the bleeding in a hurry as she ran across the hall, blood flowing and splattering all over the wooden floor.
The black-haired woman clicked her tongue.
"Oh, don’t complain so much over a little chopped-off hand!" she shot back. "Weren’t you the one who, a few minutes ago, was saying: ’I don’t feel any progress, attack with more killing intent’?"
She shrugged.
"Your words, not mine!"
Nina was still euphoric and furious when another door, deeper inside the dojo, opened.
It was a feral-looking teenage girl, with black hair and red eyes.
The Beast God’s younger sister, Ruby.
She was accompanied by three very small children.
Nina ran over to her, holding her mutilated arm.
"Ruby, Ruby! My hand! Heal my hand!"
Ruby was visibly surprised when she was handed a bloody limb, but she reacted quickly. She reattached the member and activated Advanced Healing Magic, restoring it in just a few moments.
"Ai, ai, ai!"
As the hand was reconnected, Nina made no effort to hide her pain or agony.
Reida went to sit in a corner and commented disdainfully:
"And this is a Sword Emperor? Can’t even handle a little pain? How shameful."
Nina shot her a resentful look, while Ruby asked worriedly:
"What happened, Nina...?"
Testing her newly healed hand, Nina sighed, discouraged.
"Haaah... I still couldn’t break through this old hag’s defense. So I asked her to attack more seriously today... but even then, I couldn’t."
She looked dejected as she sat down beside the woman.
The reply came laden with irritation.
"You’re not motivated enough!" Reida snapped. "The Red Lion made that her life’s goal until she achieved it! Even if it took time, in the end she succeeded!"
She turned to Nina.
"Where’s your determination to do the same?!"
And she added indignantly:
"Besides, who are you calling old?! Can’t you see I’m young and vigorous like a bull?! You’re the one who’ll have white hair before her time with all that stress!"
Nina exploded:
"Looks are a different matter! You act like an old woman! Damn old hag!"
The fact that Eris, the current Sword God — who was supposed to be her rival — had already surpassed Reida’s Deprivation Field more than a year ago was a wound to her ego.
What irritated her the most was being unable to do the same, no matter how much she tried or how hard she trained — and that venomous woman did not make things any easier.
The two kept arguing until they started throwing punches, cursing and swearing at each other.
Until Ruby coughed to get their attention.
"Ahem!"
The two finally looked at her.
And then at the children accompanying her.
The three didn’t seem to be more than three or four years old.
Two of them watched everything with curiosity.
They were two identical little beast boys, both with golden eyes and vibrant red hair. Nina recognized them immediately — she had seen them many times before.
They were the twin sons of her rival, Eris.
Rygar Adoldia seemed to have a special talent for fathering twins, since that was already the second pair.
Despite their golden pupils, the boys did not possess Demon Eyes, like Aurora or Rygar.
The third child remained more cautious around the quarreling women. He was a small elf with red eyes and blond hair, Verdia’s second son.
He had been born only a few months after Eris’s twins, so they were practically the same age.
Reida didn’t know those children and cast an inquisitive look at Nina.
Nina immediately brightened up.
"Oh! Harris, Hubert, and Hamish! I didn’t see you there! How are you?"
She approached them warmly.
Recognizing their mother’s friend, the children finally seemed to relax a bit.
Except for Hamish.
The little elf still looked cautiously at Reida.
And Reida returned a malicious, frightening look.
Enough to completely intimidate him.
Nina squeezed the twins’ cheeks firmly before standing up.
"So, you’re here to test compatibility, boys?"
Harris replied loudly, full of energy:
"Yes! Ah! Uncle Ornthorn said I crushed it in the North God Style!"
"Tch! Don’t brag so soon!" Hubert scolded him immediately.
The two began arguing, as if it were automatic.
Nina laughed when she noticed that Hamish had clearly been intimidated by Reida and remained quiet, almost hiding behind Ruby. Then she turned to her.
"So? How have their results been so far?"
Ruby greeted Reida with a light nod and looked for a place to sit as she replied:
"Harris and Hubert have already shown quite a bit of talent. Harris for the North God Style and Hubert for the Sword God Style... to Eris’s great delight."
She laughed softly.
Nina laughed as well. She knew very well how much her rival wanted her children to be strong and exceptional.
Ruby continued:
"They still need to train in those styles for some time to confirm it, but honestly, it’s probably already decided for both of them."
Then she looked at Hamish.
"Hamish wasn’t bad at all. But he isn’t very aggressive by nature. I think he might do better in the Water God Style."
Reida watched the children with a furrowed brow.
"That guy... is he ever going to stop having kids? How many is it now? Seven?"
"Eight," Nina corrected. "The youngest daughter turned one a few months ago. Her name is Lenna, Ghislaine’s third child."
Reida sighed.
"What a perverted brat."
Ruby didn’t comment, looking embarrassed by her brother, while Nina replied:
"Well, if it’s any consolation, he doesn’t seem to intend to have many more children. Maybe one or two. He said he’s already satisfied, even if no more come."
Reida shot her a crooked look.
"You don’t have much moral ground to talk either. You already had three with that brat Jino! And then you still wonder why you’re not improving!"
Nina snorted.
"I already told him it was the last one!"
Reida clicked her tongue.
"Whatever. We don’t even know if the Beast God will pick up another wife in the next minute. Let’s test these kids already. It’s a better way to spend time than talking about other people’s lives."
The three children looked at Reida expectantly.
Although she acted casually, Reida’s fame as the Water God was known throughout the Kingdom of Gaia.
Currently, she held third place among the Twelve Kings of Gaia, losing only to the Martial God and the Sword God.
More importantly, she was considered the best instructor in the Kingdom, with the sole exception of Rygar himself.
Eris’s rise had been, in large part, the result of relentless training with Reida, always with the goal of surpassing the Deprivation Field.
True to her reputation, Reida began skillfully instructing the three children in the most basic fundamentals of the Water God Style.
The scene looked a bit absurd.
The Water God — recognized worldwide as the greatest user of that style — teaching three little brats.
Many would question their own eyes if they saw that.
But those were Rygar’s children.
On that continent, that was practically equivalent to being the children of a deity or a mythical beast.
Rygar was not seen merely as the strongest warrior in the Kingdom. He was, quite literally, the pillar of hope and faith that sustained it.
Many treated him as a living god, to the point of having created a religion to worship him — something similar to Milis, which was dissolved the moment he discovered its existence.
In any case, none of the three women found it strange that Reida instructed them personally, even in the most basic concepts.
After all, Rygar himself sometimes taught his children swordsmanship and magic. Compared to that, Reida doing the same seemed simple enough.
As Ruby had expected, Eris’s two sons — Hubert and Harris — showed little aptitude for the Water God Style. They were too aggressive, and that didn’t mesh well with the calm flow required to master the style.
Hamish, on the other hand, proved more promising than they were. Even so, he didn’t seem like an extraordinary talent.
While Nina talked with Ruby, the two also began training.
Ruby had become a North Saint at sixteen. Although her control over Touki wasn’t at that level yet, she compensated with Magic.
Even so, she didn’t display exceptional talent. The reason she had reached that level was proper guidance and suitable mentors since childhood.
Several hours passed as they trained.
Until Reida approached Ruby again.
"Nothing special about those brats," she commented, disinterested.
Then she added:
"But the elf brat has a very good rhythm. It might be interesting to add that to his training. He could do very well in the Water God Style."
Ruby nodded.
She said goodbye to the two women and took the three children with her, now excited.
Nina turned to Reida.
"So... are you coming to watch the fight or not? Aisha asked me to invite you personally."
Reida rarely left this dojo of the Combat Temple. She spent most of her time there — to the point of practically living on the premises.
In contrast, Aisha was always on the move, traveling from place to place, with commitments that never seemed to end.
Reida turned her face away, clearly resentful.
"That girl... I taught her all this time, and she can’t even come invite me personally!"
Nina laughed.
"Believe it or not, she has more important things to do!" she said ironically.
"In fact, I think she’s the busiest person I know. Honestly, sometimes I think she might be some kind of alien..."
She seemed to ponder that for a moment, as if she were seriously considering the possibility.
Reida snorted and remained silent.
Nina continued: 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Anyway, it’s her first challenge to enter the ranks of the Kings of Gaia. Are you really going to miss it? Even if it’s symbolic, it should still be an interesting fight."
Throughout all those years, Aisha had never challenged any of the Kings of Gaia. She had stayed out of the rankings the entire time. And then, a few days ago, quite suddenly, she decided to directly challenge Rank 1.
Jino Britz, the Martial God.
Reida turned immediately.
"What do you mean, symbolic?"
Nina picked up her blade and sheathed it, already preparing to leave.
"She’s going to challenge Jino, the current Rank 1. It’s obviously symbolic. She doesn’t stand a chance!" she replied bluntly.
"I tried to convince her to challenge someone else, but she insisted."
Reida began walking with her as they left the dojo.
Then she laughed maliciously.
"Are you sure about what you’re saying?"
Nina raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"I know exactly what you’re thinking. But it’s been a few years since Jino surpassed you — he’s different now. The only one who can fight him today is Rygar. Not even Eris stands a chance..."
Reida nodded, acknowledging the fact.
"Reaching God level in all styles at the same time..." she murmured. "I think the only ones monstrous enough for that are those two."
She paused briefly.
"But even so..."
Nina asked impatiently:
"What level has Aisha reached in the Water God Style? Do you really think she can defeat Jino somehow? Stop dreaming, old hag!"
Reida smiled faintly.
"Hehehe! Actually... she’s only a Water Emperor."
Nina stopped for a moment, clearly surprised.
Aisha Greyrat was publicly known as a mage — one of the most exceptional in the entire world.
Beyond that, little was said about her skill with the blade. Many even believed she hadn’t made it past the Saint rank.
And yet, without drawing attention, she had reached that level of swordsmanship.
Even surprised, Nina shook her head.
"Even so... she can’t win. Jino can’t be defeated with tricks. There’s no way she can overcome even his versatility..."
As she spoke, Nina seemed to drift into some personal memories, gazing distractedly at the sky.
Then Reida spoke:
"Alright. I’ll go watch."
She crossed her arms.
"Let’s see how this turns out. I always have the feeling that nothing escapes that girl’s control... she must have some crazy plan for this."
