Burrhen City, noon time, in the restaurant.

The waiter placed their luxurious orders on the table and respectively retreated. He could see that the person on the table was none other than Lord Burrhen, and that made him even more respectful than usual.

Sett sat on a chair, eating the food with relish as if he enjoyed the taste very much.

Burrhen ate, too, showing no lord-like behavior.

But he was also analyzing Sett, noticing the weirdness of him.

Sett was a handsome man, and he had a peculiar royalty to his appearance. He seemed too well-groomed, even in his small actions like taking the fork and putting the food in his mouth. This was not something that people can learn from watching.

And Burrhen also noticed some aspects that might make him seem like a mummy.

Skin too pale, breath too short, and a lack of heartbeats.

It was no wonder that Shining Black misunderstood.

Noticing that also made Burrhen notice how Zainah handled herself.

She was imitating Sett, but she had—surprisingly—good form. That was nearly impossible without formal training. Though she didn’t eat much at all and just sat there as a formality, which made it a bit easier to do.

Zarah, on the other hand, was just nervously eating slowly.

She had no noble etiquette.

As he observed Sett, Sett was also observing Burrhen.

This person was strong, probably strong enough to kill Shining Black many times over. No wonder he was the master and Shining Black the subordinate. He was not a Tomb Raider, but he was an especially battle-oriented Axiom Holder.

If someone asked Sett who he preferred to fight, he would answer Tomb Raider any day.

He especially didn’t want to fight an Axiom Holder like Lord Burrhen.

This person was not a Tomb Raider but he was sure to have a terrifying body.

After all, Burrhen had the mythical beast-transformation type Axiom!

Sett squinted.

A Tier 1 Axiom Holder’s job was to figure out their own Axiom’s powers. Every Axiom has five abilities under it, and they can be awakened one by one while a person is a Tier 1 Axiom Holder.

Meanwhile, by becoming Tier 2, they can combine all their existing abilities together to gain something much more powerful—a True Form.

This Lord Burrhen was a High Noble, a Tier 2 Axiom Holder.

And he had long awakened all five of his Axiom’s abilities.

He was a strong battle machine, too.

A person who could transform specific body parts into the form of a mythical Great Wyrm. His True Form, especially, must be a deadly force to reckon with.

"So, my friend," Burrhen said, "I still do not know your full names."

Zainah paused, wondering what they were supposed to do.

She was a nervous wreck.

In fact, she didn’t want to speak at all.

After all, anything she spoke might end up being a blunder.

If she ended up antagonizing Lord Burrhen…

Just thinking of it made Zainah’s heart beat wildly.

"Oh, my bad," Sett put down the fork and licked his lips. "My name is Sett, her name is Zainah. The other girl is her sister, Zarah."

Burrhen rapped his fat fingers on the table. "And?"

Sett smiled back. A wily old fox, this one was.

But bad for you, I am an even foxier fox.

Obviously, this Lord Burrhen was assuming that Sett and his party were nobility. Both Zainah and Zarah had also realized that immediately—and their years of scamming and thievery made them act upon it.

They were good scammers, all things said and done.

Sett had no plans to explain himself to Burrhen either.

"Sorry, Lord Burrhen. But I’d like to keep my house name private for now."

"That…" Burrhen sighed. "is a bit inconvenient, don’t you think? You are in my territory making trouble for me."

Sett rolled his eyes exaggeratingly. "We weren’t the ones to initiate the trouble, Lord Burrhen. Please use your gaslighting skills on the commoners, not on us."

Burrhen drank a cup of wine, totally shameless.

"It is a mission of the Pharaoh," he said. "You know? It is not just my interests here, but also many others. If you do not cooperate, it will not be good for either of us. In fact, I could kill you even right now."

Sett smiled, unconcerned. "I told your subordinate already. As long as your party stays away from us, my party will not bother you in any way. And don’t forget, I have people outside who will spread the secrets if I am not well."

Burrhen’s gaze became cold. "Do you think I can trust you anymore? You already told the truth to a bunch of commoners." He found that incredibly annoying. Even if Sett shut his mouth about it, the commoners might spill the beans.

Was he seeing it as a joke?

Sett shook his head. "Don’t worry, Lord Burrhen. I didn’t tell any of them the full details. If I am safe, they wouldn’t learn anything concrete. I gave one piece of the puzzle to each of them and only if it all comes together will the complete picture become known to the public."

"So if you didn’t leave here safely, the public will learn of it, otherwise they won’t," Burrhen said, nodding. "That was a good move."

Sett shrugged, drinking wine.

Calm, he took a knife by the side and sliced into the camel meat.

"I just want a guarantee that you won’t mess this up for me," Burrhen said. "I am busy refining my new territory at the moment, and when I am free, I will continue and end the mission entirely."

Refining a new Territory was not something that can be done in a day. One has to carefully imbue the aura of their Axiom into the land, sky, and the air itself. And refining so much land took time.

Burrhen continued. "And once the city is given to the ghosts, our company is over. We won’t have to see each other after the whole thing is over, not even once. We can come to the restaurant after that again if you’d like, though."

"A guarantee that I won’t mess it up?" Sett mused. "What do you want?"

"Give me the little girl beside you as a hostage. I will return her, unharmed, in a month."

Zainah’s heart skipped a beat while Zarah stopped eating.

Sett sneered. "Go kill yourself."

Lord Burrhen’s face turned gloomy. But he became even more convinced that Sett was from an authoritative family. He was too calm, too unafraid.

"I am not willing to budge on this, young Sett. You either do that, or you have to do something to make me certain that I don’t have to fear you spreading the news. Otherwise, I might as well kill you to see what happens."

Sett looked at the City Lord. "What if I tell you that my surname is Ramses?"

That was a gamble.
