Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 840: You’re Going to Be a Mom
After returning to the hotel, Seraphina Vaughn and the others discussed their plans and noticed a tabletop gaming bar nearby. They organized a trip there to play a script murder game.
Vanessa and Lana Holloway both tagged along, as did Heath Holloway and Norman Sutton.
Coincidentally, the roles they drew from the script had Vanessa paired with Norman Sutton as a couple, while Lana Holloway’s role was ambiguously related to Heath Holloway.
When Norman Sutton and Heath Holloway realized this situation, they exchanged a knowing look and secretly swapped their role cards.
Norman Sutton’s character in the script was a doting boyfriend, a gentle puppy-like figure, surprising everyone with how convincingly he, usually a domineering young master, embraced the role.
Or rather, he didn’t distinguish between inside or outside the script, delivering an authentic performance.
Heath Holloway was quite lively in his portrayal too, openly expressing his affection for Vanessa, even supplementing the script with an earnest confession to Vanessa’s character.
Vanessa’s reaction remained shy and reserved, but compared to her past behavior, she was much more outgoing.
Occasionally, she even cracked a joke or two, joining in the laughter.
Vanessa Sterling felt touched by Heath Holloway’s influence, encouraging her to open up her closed-off heart, appropriately displaying and releasing her emotions.
Inside the hotel room.
Julian Bishop sat silently in front of the computer, listening to the person on the other end of the video call reporting work.
Shane Warner, not appearing on camera, sat on the sofa cradling Anna, quietly listening in.
Anna was forever restless, grabbing at this and that, occasionally emitting baby sounds that transmitted through the computer into the meeting room.
But the people in the meeting room were used to Shane Warner holding a baby during meetings, so the sound of a child’s noise wasn’t unexpected.
The game lasted over four hours before concluding, with only snacks and refreshments consumed inside the venue during the game.
After leaving the venue, the group decided to find a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Seraphina Vaughn said, "You all go ahead, I’ll catch up with you soon."
Audrey Sutton asked, "Where are you going?"
Seraphina Vaughn replied, "I’m going to buy something, I’ll be right there."
With that, Seraphina Vaughn hailed a taxi from the side of the road; Audrey Sutton and the others looked on, puzzled, as Flora Lane muttered, "Something’s off with Brother Seraphina." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Barry Barrett nodded, "Yeah, I think so too. It’s mysterious, who knows what she’s up to."
Audrey Sutton queried, "Does she have friends here?"
Flora Lane said, "Forget it, let’s not worry about it. With Brother Seraphina’s wit, she’s usually the one tricking others; it’s not easy for others to trick her. Let’s hurry to the restaurant; we’re starving."
Audrey Sutton thought it over and agreed; with Seraphina Vaughn’s alertness, nobody could deceive her. Perhaps she really was just going to buy something nearby.
No one thought much more about it, continuing to discuss the script murder with laughter as they headed to the restaurant.
Seraphina Vaughn had already received news from the hospital as the game was ending.
That’s why she was in such a hurry to head over.
"Congratulations, Ms. Vaughn, you’re going to be a mother."
"Boom—" Although Seraphina Vaughn had contemplated this result in her head, hearing the doctor officially announce this still left her somewhat stunned.
"This is your first child, correct? Is the child’s father here? If he is, you can ask him to come in, and I’ll explain some precautions to both of you."
"Can you arrange the surgery for me?"
The doctor’s smile froze, realizing belatedly, and held back from judging too harshly. After hesitating, the doctor confirmed with Seraphina Vaughn, "Are you saying... you want to terminate the pregnancy?"
Seraphina Vaughn nodded without hesitation, "Yes."
Looking at the pregnancy report, the doctor advised Seraphina Vaughn, "Regarding the surgery, we recommend you come back later—usually performing it around forty to seventy days into pregnancy is best. You might also want to discuss it with your family."
Seraphina Vaughn asked, "Can’t it be done now?"
The doctor earnestly explained, "Your pregnancy is too early, making surgery inadvisable right now due to risks of leftover tissue. Returning in a month for the operation is better. You must take care of your body; if you don’t plan on having children, remember birth control, as abortions can be quite harmful."
The doctor was an older middle-aged man, seemingly treating Seraphina Vaughn like his own child while advising her, speaking sincerely.
Seraphina Vaughn took the doctor’s advice.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t wait a month, but thinking about having a small life inside her for another month, only to terminate it later...
Even the most callous individuals can’t help but feel that such thoughts are somewhat cruel.
After leaving the hospital, Seraphina Vaughn seemed utterly dazed.
Previously worrying about whether she was pregnant, now conflicted over whether to terminate the pregnancy.
If the child wasn’t from that man, she perhaps wouldn’t be so conflicted.
Taking a cab to the restaurant, the dishes had just been served, and Audrey Sutton called out, "Hurry and sit down. What did you go off to buy?"
Seraphina Vaughn smiled and replied, "My mom heard I was over here and asked me to buy her a comb from here; she said she found one during a previous visit, and while the last one had a broken tooth, she wanted a new one, but I couldn’t find the shop she mentioned."
Flora Lane teased, "Who’d have thought your mom was so particular!"
Seraphina Vaughn replied, "She might’ve fallen for a tourist trap; the comb she has seems like a regular plastic comb. Never mind that, let’s eat, I’m starved."
Seraphina Vaughn’s casual attitude managed to pass unnoticed, with no one realizing her emotional turmoil.
Though she also didn’t know if, after a month, she’d bear to terminate this pregnancy.
Back at the hotel, everyone was already packing their bags, ready to move on.
Seraphina Vaughn rolled her suitcase out of her room, running into Julian Bishop exiting the room across the hall.
Compared to Seraphina Vaughn’s large suitcase near her feet, Julian Bishop only carried a lightweight laptop bag.
As their eyes met, both paused, and Julian Bishop hesitantly asked Seraphina Vaughn, "Need a hand?"
Seraphina Vaughn scoffed lightly, turning her suitcase toward the elevator, with Julian Bishop following leisurely behind.
Initially planning to wait until Seraphina Vaughn had taken the elevator down before catching the next one, things changed when Audrey Sutton and the other girls arrived.
After everyone had entered, Julian Bishop lingered outside, as Audrey Sutton puzzledly asked him, "Mr. Bishop, aren’t you coming down with us?"
Julian Bishop glanced at Seraphina Vaughn, noticing her pale expression, and made an excuse, "Oh no, I’m waiting for Faye Xavier and them."
