Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 837: Strange Woman
In contrast, Julian Bishop had been on the phone with someone shortly after getting into the car, discussing things like "meetings," "materials," "revision plans," which made Seraphina Vaughn feel overwhelmed just by listening.
The seven or eight-minute drive went by quickly, and they were soon outside the hotel.
As the car started to slow but hadn’t come to a complete stop, Seraphina Vaughn took out her phone and scanned the QR code on the driver’s dashboard, paying the fare shown on the meter.
As soon as the car stopped, she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out without looking back.
Julian Bishop ended the call, leisurely pushed open the car door, and just as he was about to close it, he heard the driver earnestly say, "Young man, when your girlfriend is upset, you need to comfort her. Ignoring her won’t lead to anything good."
Julian Bishop paused at the words, thinking the driver was just offering well-meaning advice. He nodded politely at the driver before closing the door.
By the time he got out of the car, Seraphina Vaughn was already in the hotel lobby.
Julian Bishop couldn’t figure out where he went wrong, but it seemed indisputable that Seraphina disliked him.
He deliberately slowed his pace, not wanting to upset her further.
Unfortunately, when he leisurely walked into the hotel, Seraphina was still waiting for the elevator.
Julian Bishop walked silently and stood behind her, watching the numbers beside the elevator door count down from "321," followed by a "ding" as the doors opened.
After the people inside exited, Seraphina stepped into the elevator, pressed the button for her floor, and moved to the back corner, not even glancing at Julian Bishop, as if they were strangers.
Once inside, Julian saw the floor button was already lit, so he simply pressed the door-close button and watched the elevator slowly ascend.
After two floors, Julian couldn’t help but glance at Seraphina, unexpectedly meeting her gaze directly.
Both were momentarily taken aback, and Julian received a disdainful look from Seraphina, who said with a tone full of dislike, "What are you looking at?"
Julian naturally wouldn’t get upset with a young girl. After a moment, he couldn’t help but ask, "I’m just curious, why do you dislike me so much? Since the start of the trip, you haven’t been friendly, but I don’t recall meeting you before."
Seraphina frowned and retorted, "I just can’t stand your pretentious demeanor! Acting all noble every day, I don’t know who you’re trying to impress!"
Julian: "..."
Seraphina: "Don’t fucking talk to me." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Julian maintained his gentle tone, saying, "If I’ve done anything to offend you, Miss Vaughn, feel free to point it out."
Seraphina blurted out, "Your very existence disgusts me!"
Despite Seraphina’s rudeness, Julian remained composed, his tone unchanged: "If you’re judging a person’s character based on your imagination and letting it upset you, it’s really unnecessary."
Seraphina couldn’t stand Julian’s seemingly innocent façade. Outwardly pure and harmless, but inwardly dark and filthy: "Stop pretending to be magnanimous in front of me, you tea master!"
Julian: "Although I’m not quite sure what that term means, you’re probably insulting me, right? If my presence is disrupting your rare vacation, I can only apologize. But I hope you understand, Miss Vaughn, that once our trip ends, there likely won’t be any further contact, so please tolerate me a bit longer."
The more Seraphina listened, the more the elevator seemed filled with the scent of green tea. Once it stopped at her floor and the doors opened, she quickly strode out and headed towards her room.
Julian’s room was diagonally across from Seraphina’s. As he took out his keycard, he heard the slightly jarring sound of a door slamming behind him.
He stared at that door for a few seconds, contemplating, before swiping his card and entering his room.
He didn’t dwell too much on being disliked. After showering, Julian opened his laptop and focused on organizing materials for a video conference the next morning.
Meanwhile, Seraphina couldn’t remain as calm. The thought that she might be pregnant by someone she disliked filled her with unease.
She felt uncomfortable standing, sitting, couldn’t focus on watching TV or playing games.
Browsing through numerous pregnancy-related information only made her feel like something was wrong with her body.
She had mentally prepared for the worst and read many posts about abortion procedures.
She started convincing herself that in this day and age, abortion is a trivial matter, just a medical procedure, nothing to be overly anxious about.
But the more she tried not to think about it, the more it consumed her thoughts.
She even began to resent how men could casually walk away without consequences, while women had to endure such hardships.
What she regretted most was hastily running away at that time, completely overlooking the need for contraception.
It was her inexperience and carelessness at fault.
...
By around ten o’clock, the kids were tired and it was time for bed.
But Audrey Sutton’s group had just started a game of Werewolf, so a few of the dads took the kids back to the hotel first.
Faye Xavier and the others had heard of a drag show at a bar down the street and all eagerly went to check it out.
This kind of musical bar felt a bit bland for Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn.
So they switched to another bar, finally feeling like they found their groove.
The two sat on the sofa, each with an arm around someone, watching the sensuous dance performance on stage.
The performer was stunning, but since they had undergone surgery, the two decided just to enjoy the show, not hungry enough to pursue anything further.
At the bar, a woman in a black spaghetti strap dress with long wavy hair was sitting, showing only her back to Faye and Morgan’s side.
Both had been watching that silhouette for a while, and Faye smirked, "You go or should I?"
Morgan Quinn stood up, "I’ll go first to see if she’s as good as she seems from behind."
Faye nodded in agreement, "If she’s attractive, invite her over for drinks."
Morgan Quinn: "Of course."
With that, Morgan eagerly approached the bar.
He had noticed she had been sitting there for quite some time. Several men had tried to chat her up, but she seemed to have politely declined them all, opting to sit alone. The cocktail in front of her appeared virtually untouched since she ordered it.
It was intriguing to Morgan, fueling his interest in the woman.
