Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 799: Too Childish
A total of seven recreational vehicles for rest, each with two bedrooms and a bathroom, the environment is no less than a star hotel.
The vehicles are allocated as follows: Audrey Sutton and her family of three share a vehicle with Flora Lane and her family of three.
The second vehicle has Vanessa, Laura Yates, and Clary sharing one room, while Seraphina Vaughn, who enjoys sleeping alone, has a room to herself.
The third vehicle is occupied by Phoebe King, Summer, and two maids taking care of them.
In the fourth vehicle, Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn squeeze into one room, while Julian Bishop has a room to himself.
The fifth vehicle hosts Norman Sutton, Lana Holloway, and Bear. Although it seems like a mix of leftover people, Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King actually planned it with a hint of subtlety.
Bear is there with a mission to be the third wheel.
The remaining two vehicles are for the accompanying catering team and drivers to rest.
Scott Sutton, who prefers tranquility, requested from the start to stay alone in the lounge on the recreational vehicle.
Nights on the journey carry beautiful expectations; some comfortably enjoy the peaceful rest during this trip, while others toss and turn, unable to sleep.
Norman Sutton lost count of how many times he got up to use the bathroom, although not truly needing it, just because the path to the bathroom passed by the room where Lana Holloway stayed.
Since their unpleasant parting at the art exhibition, Lana Holloway seemed to have been avoiding him, and hadn’t appeared for a long time, even when visiting The Yates Family manor.
Either she was said to be studying elsewhere or attending activities out of town; in any case, she seemed too busy to stay in Rivia.
Norman Sutton considered countless times sending her a message, but anticipated it would likely end up like a message in a bottle tossed into the sea, never returning.
Thus, he always wanted to find Lana Holloway in person to talk things through but didn’t know how to start.
Unable to sleep, Norman Sutton stood by the window near the bathroom, smoking.
The vehicle drove on the dark highway, and even outside the window, it was pitch black.
Standing by the narrow passageway’s window, the window at night resembled a mirror, reflecting his own shadow.
Only the faint sounds of the vehicle in motion were in his ears; although it was very quiet, his heart was chaotic.
When the cigarette in his hand was halfway through, Norman Sutton suddenly heard a noise near the door beside him.
As he turned his head to look, he saw Lana Holloway, in a nightgown with her hair down, opening the door and coming out.
Upon seeing a silhouette in the corridor, Lana was initially startled, and after recognizing it was Norman Sutton, she paused, then diverted her gaze, and walked past him silently towards the bathroom.
Norman Sutton stood thoughtfully by the door and then made up his mind that when Lana came out, he would hold her back and clarify his doubts.
With this plan, Norman Sutton pondered over what opening words to use when the time came.
Hey, long time no see.
That seems a bit silly.
Where have you been lately?
Lana Holloway might roll her eyes and say: None of your damn business.
Why aren’t you asleep yet?
Such a boring question and Lana definitely wouldn’t respond to him.
...
As he was conflicted without finding a suitable answer, the sound of flushing came from the bathroom, and soon Lana stepped out.
Just as Norman Sutton pressed his lips tight, ready to gather his courage to speak to Lana, she unexpectedly spoke first as she stood before him.
But her words were not kindly toned: "Can you stop smoking here?"
Norman Sutton: "..."
Before Norman Sutton could figure out how to respond, Lana Holloway returned to her room, closed the door, and judging by the sound, even locked it.
Barry Barrett was sitting on the bed playing a solo mini-game. Because the road often passed through tunnels, the network was unstable, so he couldn’t voice chat to play games with his buddies.
Seeing Lana Holloway return, Barry asked, "Who was outside? I thought I heard someone talking just now."
Lana Holloway climbed into bed, saying, "It’s just him on the same vehicle as us, who else could it be but him?"
Barry pretended to be enlightened and said, "Oh, the sixth Sutton, I played games with him all afternoon, he’s really good!"
Lana Holloway remarked, "Don’t praise him, he’s very arrogant."
Barry: "True, his words are harsh, he spent the whole afternoon dissing me, no wonder he’s still single, too full of himself!"
When it came to talking about Norman Sutton’s flaws, Lana Holloway got more talkative.
"Exactly, he’s probably been like that since childhood, with a spoiled brat attitude, not even his family acts like that; where he got so many weird habits from beats me."
Barry chuckled, put away his phone, turned off the lamp beside his bed, and also snuggled under the covers, "I think he’s just too immature, saying the opposite of what he really means."
Lana Holloway shook her head, seemingly disagreeing with Barry’s take: "I don’t think he’s immature, just used to being self-centered, never considering others’ feelings."
Barry: "He’s just had too smooth a life, with so many people fawning over him, so he’s proud and awkward, not willing to lower himself."
Lana Holloway: "I don’t want to talk about him anymore. By the way, I saw you several times at anime conventions before, and always thought you looked really pretty, and your cosplays are spot on." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Barry shyly laughed, "Hehe, it’s all about the makeup. Next time there’s a convention, we should go together; none of the other guys like Audrey play this, so I always feel a bit alone."
Lana Holloway also got curious, "But I saw you and Simon Sue seem quite close, didn’t he invite you as a guest at his concert? And you both contributed to his cosplay debut there."
Barry: "Oh~ that was actually me asking him, but I didn’t expect he’d make it a concert feature segment. I’ve always liked that character, when I watched that anime, I envisioned Simon as that character, so I felt lucky."
"Yeah, I found it really romantic watching the show, and rumors about you and Simon Sue are all over the internet; is it true?"
Barry never considered that as the matchmaker, he’d end up being gossiped about instead, awkwardly replying, "Certainly not true, all nonsensical talk, he and Audrey are childhood sweethearts, I only got some perks through Audrey."
