Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 772: The Root of the Problem
Miles Sterling’s dark eyes showed a flicker, clearly intrigued by Bianca Jennings’ suggestion.
He simply couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be in love with Vanessa Sterling, as such a thought had never crossed his mind.
Yet when Bianca Jennings proposed this notion, his heart began to dream and yearn.
"I hope you’re not just talking idly. I’ll advance you ten thousand first, and naturally won’t treat you poorly if results are evident."
Bianca Jennings, confident in her demeanor, nodded with a smile and said, "Then please take me to meet Miss Sterling."
Miles Sterling stood up and personally led Bianca Jennings upstairs.
The servant in the room quietly informed Miles Sterling, "Young Master, Miss seems to have already fallen asleep."
Miles slightly nodded: "You may leave first."
After the two servants in the room departed, Bianca Jennings followed Miles Sterling into the room.
On the large bed in the bedroom, Vanessa Sterling lay in the middle on her side, surrounded by various medical equipment, with a half-empty bag of nutrient solution hanging on the IV pole at the bedside.
The situation seemed worse than imagined.
"You leave too," Bianca Jennings said to Miles Sterling.
Miles Sterling was momentarily stunned, clearly dissatisfied with Bianca Jennings ordering him.
His steps seemed hesitant, as he had not reached the point of fully trusting Bianca, and thus felt uneasy about leaving her alone with Vanessa Sterling.
Seeing Miles Sterling was not planning to leave, Bianca Jennings slowly said, "Then it seems Mr. Sterling isn’t prepared, and I should come back another day."
Miles Sterling watched Bianca Jennings turn to leave, and only then did he step back towards the door, warning Bianca before closing it: "You better behave and not try any tricks."
Bianca Jennings: "Do not employ someone you distrust, and do not distrust someone you employ."
Miles Sterling looked uneasily at Vanessa Sterling before closing the door, then stood right outside, taking out his phone and opening the surveillance app.
But the phone could only display the visuals inside; it couldn’t capture any sound.
Bianca Jennings locked the door behind her and quietly walked to the bedside.
Vanessa Sterling remained motionless, appearing genuinely asleep.
Bianca Jennings sat down on the edge of the bed and gently tugged the blanket covering half of Vanessa Sterling’s face slightly downward.
Looking at Vanessa Sterling’s exhausted and lifeless appearance, Bianca Jennings softly sighed and whispered, "It’s painful, isn’t it?"
"I know a bit about your situation. Unless pushed to absolute despair, no one would choose a dead-end path, right?"
Bianca gently tidied Vanessa Sterling’s slightly messy hair around her temples and murmured, "I can understand how you feel right now."
"But there’s more than just one path to choose from."
"He may have blocked your light, but why do you have to choose to hide in the darkness? If you reach out and part the clouds, you might just find the sun."
Bianca’s words seemed to reach Vanessa Sterling.
Tears leaked from the slits of her eyes, which had remained shut.
She had tried repeatedly, wanting to climb out of the abyss, but every time she was about to see the light, she was pulled back by that person...
Bianca Jennings reached out and gently wiped away the tears from Vanessa Sterling’s cheeks, softly saying, "Dear, bear with it a little longer, I will help you, promise me, live well, only by living can one wait for a miracle."
Vanessa Sterling kept her eyes shut tightly, pressing her lips together to hold back her sobs, as tears flowed more and more vigorously.
An emotional breakdown is better than no reaction at all.
Bianca Jennings sat quietly at the bedside, waiting for Vanessa Sterling’s emotions to calm a bit, and asked, "You’re friends with Audrey, aren’t you? She asked me to come, she’s very worried about you."
Upon hearing this, Vanessa Sterling opened her eyes, looking at Bianca Jennings with tearful eyes, her dry lips slightly parting, emitting a hoarse and weak voice: "Audrey?"
Bianca Jennings nodded: "Yes, my task is to rescue you, and your task is to cooperate with the doctors to get better as soon as possible."
Vanessa Sterling looked at Bianca Jennings with some doubt, then cast a worried glance at the door.
She seemed worried Bianca Jennings might be Miles Sterling’s accomplice and that their conversation might be overheard by him.
Seeing through her thoughts, Bianca Jennings smiled gently and said, "Don’t worry, he won’t know about this. My official role is your psychologist, but actually, the person in need of treatment isn’t you, it’s him."
Vanessa Sterling paused: "You mean..."
Bianca Jennings smiled and nodded: "That’s right, merely fleeing doesn’t solve the core problem; between you two, the root issue lies with him, so the person who needs to change is indeed him. I need an identity to stay here, thus your cooperation is necessary."
After a moment of hesitation, Vanessa Sterling earnestly nodded, as though she had grasped her last straw.
Even if she couldn’t fully trust Bianca Jennings right now, she had no other options.
Finally, there was a glimmer of light in her dim eyes.
Miles Sterling observed Vanessa Sterling, who had been playing dead by lying on the bed, now finally speaking with Bianca Jennings.
Though he didn’t know what the two talked about, being able to get Vanessa Sterling to open her mouth made Miles Sterling somewhat acknowledge Bianca Jennings’ skill.
At least she was no fraud.
Bianca Jennings stayed in the room conversing with Vanessa Sterling for less than ten minutes, yet at noon, when the servants delivered the meal, Vanessa Sterling was willing to eat.
This change made Miles Sterling feel both delighted and slightly apprehensive.
He sought out Bianca Jennings, asking, "What did you say to her?"
Bianca Jennings chuckled: "A physician’s methods are secret and cannot be casually disclosed. Mr. Sterling only needs to decide whether you’re satisfied with the results of my treatment; the rest needn’t concern you."
Miles Sterling sized up Bianca Jennings with an unusual gaze, pondering inwardly whether the woman might be using some sort of sorcery. Does such a thing truly exist?
But just now, he had been observing the situation inside and hadn’t seen Bianca Jennings do anything strange to Vanessa Sterling.
They just seemed to have a simple chat, and Bianca Jennings managed to successfully console her.
Forget it, as Bianca Jennings said, as long as the results are achieved, then the rest really doesn’t warrant excessive inquiry.
Over the next two days, Vanessa Sterling ate properly at each meal, though still reluctant to speak with anyone other than Bianca Jennings and the attending physician.
As Vanessa Sterling found it difficult to move, she was dining in her own room.
Bianca Jennings dined with Miles Sterling in the downstairs dining room, where they would symbolically discuss certain issues.
Though these issues appeared to revolve around Vanessa Sterling, Bianca Jennings was actually trying to understand Miles Sterling’s inner world.
Pathological obsession; a seemingly self-centered personality with underlying inferiority; afraid to lose, yet unsure of how to cherish.
Bianca Jennings put down her chopsticks, elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin, and looked at Miles Sterling: "Do you plan to keep her confined in the room under constant watch?"
