Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 758: Do You Like Her?
"Knock, knock—"
Hannah Sue heard a knock on the door and immediately stopped the pen she was using for her exercises. Her socked foot left the stool and landed on the ground. She ran to the door to listen carefully.
"Knock, knock—" The knock came again, but with no sound from the person outside.
Remembering Evan Sutton’s advice, she didn’t open the door casually and cautiously asked, "Who’s there?"
"It’s me."
Hearing Evan Sutton’s voice, Hannah Sue breathed a sigh of relief and quickly opened the door, cheerfully looking at Evan.
Before Hannah Sue could express her excitement, Evan frowned and looked at Hannah’s feet, saying, "Does your stomach feel better, and now you don’t even wear shoes?"
"I hurried to open the door for you." Saying that, Hannah quickly returned to the desk and bent down to find the slippers hidden under it.
Evan closed the door behind him and placed the still-warm chestnuts on the table. He asked, "What did you do this morning? You didn’t just wake up, did you?"
Hannah picked up the workbook from the desk and confidently said, "I’ve been doing exercises! I’ve written several pages!"
Evan smiled with satisfaction, walked over, and casually flipped through the workbook. Indeed, there were several more pages than he checked yesterday: "I’ll take this home to review. You’ll do another workbook in the meantime."
Hannah froze for a moment, her expression slightly disappointed as she looked at Evan, asking, "Are you planning to leave now?"
"Yes, I just came to see if you snuck out to play and brought you some chestnuts. They taste better when warm. I asked the hotel to arrange lunch for you, and someone will bring it up later. I’m getting ready to head back."
Although Hannah hoped Evan could stay with her a little longer, since he rarely had a few days off to spend with family, she couldn’t always take up his time.
It was already great enough that he could take the time to come see her.
Evan said, "You’re about to take your college entrance exams, so don’t slack off during the holidays. Keep working on your exercises. I’ll come back to look for you in the afternoon."
Hannah responded obediently, "Okay."
Evan walked to the door, paused before opening it, turned to look at Hannah, and said, "You can think about any movies you want to watch. I’ll be free after two o’clock." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Hannah’s eyes instantly lit up. She happily nodded and said, "Alright."
Seeing Hannah’s joyous expression, Evan felt good himself but maintained a straight face, saying, "On the condition that you finish two more pages of exercises. I’ll take you to the movies only after you complete them."
"No problem! Hurry and go then; I promise I’ll finish by two o’clock!"
Hannah seemed instantly motivated. After seeing Evan off, she immediately returned to the desk and seriously started working on another workbook.
She didn’t put down her pen even while eating, continuing to calculate on scrap paper.
After one o’clock, Hannah sent Evan a message, saying she finished her exercises.
Before two o’clock, Evan bought the movie tickets and headed out.
Audrey Sutton and Phoebe King, sitting on the couch watching TV, started discussing after Evan left: "Look at that. Your fifth brother is definitely up to something!"
Audrey Sutton said, "It is a bit odd, going out twice in one day."
Phoebe King suggested, "Should we follow him and see?"
Audrey hesitated for a moment before saying, "That’s not right, is it? If fifth brother didn’t mention it, it means he temporarily doesn’t want us to know. Once he confirms it, he’ll definitely bring that girl back."
Phoebe King said, "Aren’t you curious what kind of girl can conquer your fifth brother?"
Audrey seriously pondered, saying, "I suspect it might be that assistant from the hospital here. Before fifth brother transferred, I often saw them whispering together in the hospital."
Phoebe King replied, "No way. Your fifth brother actively applied for the transfer. If his girlfriend works at the hospital here, why would he transfer?"
Audrey said, "True, but his social circle only includes colleagues from the hospital. Could it be a girl he met over there?"
Phoebe King continued, "There’s no way he’d bring her all the way to Rivia and let the girl stay alone in a hotel, right? It must be a girl living here in Rivia."
Audrey said, "Ah, stop guessing blindly. Probably before long, he’ll bring her home."
...
Evan drove to the hotel, and Hannah was already shivering at the entrance, waiting.
"Beep—"
The car horn sounded, causing Hannah to notice Evan’s car approaching.
She quickly jogged to the roadside, peered through the window to confirm the person inside was Evan before reaching out to open the driver’s door and getting in.
"Where’s your parka? Why aren’t you wearing it?"
Hannah paused while fastening her seat belt. She couldn’t say she didn’t wear the bulky parka because she wanted to look nice.
She laughed awkwardly, saying, "It’s dirty."
Evan asked, "You only brought one?"
Hannah nodded, "Yes, the one I wore when I came back."
As Hannah finished buckling her seatbelt, Evan restarted the car, saying, "The hotel has dry cleaning services, doesn’t it?"
Hannah pursed her lips and said, "Dry cleaning costs a lot. The clothes weren’t expensive when I bought them, and after dry cleaning several times, I could buy a new one. It’s not worth it."
Evan said, "..."
Hannah sneakily took out a makeup mirror to check her makeup. Afterwards, she asked, "Are your family members coming along?"
Evan replied, "Do you want them to come or not?"
Hannah hesitated, "Either’s fine. I’m just asking."
She both wanted to meet his family and didn’t.
She wanted Evan’s approval and his family’s, but with her unfinished studies, even if Evan didn’t mind, his family probably would.
In her heart, Hannah hoped she could stand by Evan with a better identity once she became more suitable for him.
However, she wasn’t sure if Evan could wait for her that long.
Thinking this, Hannah tentatively asked Evan, "Did your family... urge you to get married when you came back this time?"
Evan glanced at Hannah, slightly surprised, and asked back, "Did your family urge you to get married?"
Hannah replied, "I’m only a senior in high school! Why would they urge me to marry? I meant you. Isn’t your age the prime time for being urged to marry during the New Year?"
Evan calmly answered, "Uh-huh, the family did introduce someone. They initially wanted me to meet them today."
Hannah was shocked, "Really? Did you go for a blind date this morning then?"
Evan asked, "Why are you so surprised?"
Hannah was stunned for a moment and then urgently pressed on, not hiding anything, "Did you go then? What does the girl look like? Is she pretty? What does she do for a living? Do you like her?"
