Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 739: The One Who Needs Saving Isn’t Vanessa
"My colleague went to the scene today, and I heard that the girl was in a terrible state, covered in blood. She’s still being rescued, and we don’t know how she’s doing yet."
Jasmine Lucas asked thoughtfully, "Who is that girl to Miles Sterling?"
The nurse whispered, "I heard she’s his sister, though I’ve never heard of Miles Sterling having a sister before. But they both share the surname Sterling, so it must be correct."
Jasmine Lucas asked, "Is she called Vanessa Sterling?"
The nurse replied, "Yes, yes, do you know her?"
Jasmine Lucas smiled and said, "I don’t know her; I just heard others talking about it before."
The nurse sighed and said, "Ah, she’s injured so badly we don’t know if she’ll survive, but the siblings probably have a good relationship. Young Master Sterling is guarding outside the emergency room without eating or drinking, he’s lost his soul."
Jasmine Lucas: "Is he still there now?"
Nurse: "Yes, but you’d better not go and bother him, he’s in a really bad mood now. His clothes are all bloody, and he hasn’t changed them. What’s strange is that such a big thing happened to the Sterling family, but apart from Young Master Sterling at the hospital, no one else from the Sterling family came. I wonder what’s going on with the Sterling family."
Jasmine Lucas chatted with the nurse a bit more before finding an excuse to leave.
At the same time, she took out her phone to reply to Audrey Sutton about Vanessa Sterling’s current situation, which didn’t look optimistic.
Putting aside whether Miles Sterling will cause any trouble for Vanessa Sterling, it’s still unclear if she’ll survive.
Jasmine Lucas went to the emergency room to find Miles Sterling, intending to see how he was doing.
Before she could see him, she heard Miles Sterling cursing from afar: "Don’t damn bother me! Stop calling me!"
Hearing this, Jasmine Lucas jogged a few steps and hid as she observed Miles Sterling sitting on a chair against the corridor wall from a distance. Just as the nurse mentioned earlier, he looked somewhat disheveled, and he was obviously agitated.
Originally planning to go over for a chat, Jasmine Lucas quickly dismissed the idea, fearing she might become Miles Sterling’s punching bag, and she didn’t want to be knocked into the emergency room by him.
Audrey Sutton was very worried about Vanessa Sterling’s condition, so Jasmine Lucas stayed at the hospital, waiting for the latest news.
At around two in the morning, a doctor finally emerged from the operating room and told Miles Sterling, "Miss Sterling is severely injured; we’ve completed preliminary surgery, but she’s not out of danger yet. We had to send her directly to the intensive care unit. She has multiple fractures all over her body, and there’s also damage inside her skull. These will need gradual treatment later if she pulls through. For now, we just hope she can make it through the night."
Miles Sterling looked somewhat dazed, his eyes reddened with bloodshot veins. After a long while, he finally spoke, "I want to see her."
The doctor sighed, "Follow me."
Through the glass, looking at Vanessa surrounded by a pile of medical instruments, her face was as pale as the bandage wrapped around her head.
Though she didn’t look as blood-soaked and horrifying as before, she still appeared completely devoid of any sign of life.
He recalled Vanessa driving straight into him, seemingly ready to perish together with him.
Though she had always been a very timid person, she managed to make such a drastic decision and act within such a short time. Perhaps she truly never planned to survive coming back with him...
Did she really hate him that much?
The next morning, Jasper Jones rushed back to Rivia.
Anna was taken to the company by Shane Warner, allowing Audrey Sutton to meet up with Jasper Jones and go to the hospital together.
But they neither found Miles Sterling nor got to see Vanessa.
Apparently, Miles Sterling had already instructed that no one was allowed to visit Vanessa. Despite Audrey Sutton’s explanations, and even mentioning Shane Warner, the staff in charge only helplessly shook their head: "Mrs. Warner, please don’t make it difficult for us. I’ve already informed you of Miss Sterling’s current condition. If I let you in, I surely won’t keep my job. My entire family relies on me to earn a living."
Audrey Sutton didn’t make things difficult for the staff any further. Even though Miles doesn’t have as much influence as Shane Warner, when it comes to holding a medical staff accountable, he certainly could do it.
Jasper Jones looked remorseful and worried, "It’s all my fault, all my fault for not protecting Vanessa properly. I didn’t even know she was taken away by Miles Sterling."
Audrey Sutton remained relatively calm and told Jasper Jones, "Brother Jones, I think you shouldn’t make an appearance in the meantime. Because right now, Miles Sterling may suspect you were involved in Vanessa’s escape, I’m afraid he might cause trouble for you. He can do anything, so it’s best to be careful. Wait until things stabilize, I’ll keep an eye on Vanessa’s situation and notify you of any updates."
Jasper Jones: "Am I too useless? Unable to protect Vanessa, I have no right to say I love her..."
Audrey Sutton comforted him, "Brother Jones, don’t think like that. None of us anticipated that Miles Sterling would find Vanessa. It’s just that we’re facing a powerful enemy, don’t blame yourself. I believe Vanessa is very, very grateful to you in her heart."
To be honest, not only Jasper Jones, even Audrey Sutton herself is afraid to meet Miles Sterling alone now.
Miles Sterling doesn’t consider the consequences when he acts, and he’s surely aware of her involvement in Vanessa’s fake death incident, which makes Audrey Sutton fearful too, as Miles wouldn’t consider if she’s Shane Warner’s wife once he loses it.
Whether Vanessa can wake up is the question. Even if she does wake up, she probably won’t escape Miles Sterling’s control.
Having faked her death once, Miles Sterling will definitely be even stricter with Vanessa.
Audrey Sutton thought that helping Vanessa escape might not be the solution to the problem.
Perhaps the one who should be saved is not Vanessa, but the root of the problem—Miles Sterling.
Miles Sterling needs psychological counseling, and only when he understands that Vanessa is an independent individual, not his accessory, can Vanessa truly gain her freedom.
After parting with Jasper Jones, Audrey Sutton sought out Jasmine Lucas, discussing this perspective with her. Jasmine Lucas said, "Our Miss Jennings is actually a very excellent psychologist. But I don’t think Miles Sterling is aware he has psychological issues; he’s surely unwilling to voluntarily undergo counseling."
Audrey Sutton: "Is there a way to approach Miles Sterling initially not for treatment purposes, and then get slightly familiar with him before gradually enlightening him as a friend?"
Jasmine Lucas hesitated for a while, then said, "I’ll talk to Miss Jennings. I think if she knows about Vanessa’s situation, she might be willing to help. But this isn’t something that can be resolved quickly. Even if Miss Jennings agrees, it might take some time for Miles Sterling to make changes."
