Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 733: She’s Doing Very Well
Vanessa Sterling seemed to see the figure outside the house. She casually looked up, and Miles Sterling hurriedly turned away, pretending to be a stranger and walked to the side.
He didn’t know why he wanted to hide; it felt like an instinctive reaction at that moment.
After walking some distance away, Miles Sterling finally stopped, standing by the roadside with scattered thoughts.
Vanessa Sterling was still alive, yet she hadn’t contacted him, indicating she chose to live with the identity of a dead person, just to evade him.
Miles Sterling wasn’t sure if Vanessa had seen him, or if he went inside to find her, he thought that her smile would probably turn to horror immediately.
Perhaps he didn’t want to see the beauty radiating from her disappear because of him, which is why he instinctively opted to hide.
It’s not hard to imagine; during the time away from him, she’s been living well, even better than ever before.
Recalling what Audrey Sutton had said, Miles Sterling thought that maybe he shouldn’t disturb Vanessa’s current life.
Vanessa Sterling didn’t die in that sea disaster, but from the harm he caused her.
Now all this is a kind of rebirth for Vanessa Sterling, and his appearance would undoubtedly destroy everything.
In his heart, Vanessa Sterling had already died once, and he had experienced that kind of despair. Seeing her still alive now is a grace from heaven for him.
Just watching her smile from afar is pretty good.
Miles Sterling didn’t get closer, nor did he leave. He wanted to hide in a place where Vanessa couldn’t see and take a couple more glances at her.
After taking care of the cats’ daily needs in the shop, Vanessa Sterling waved goodbye to the employees, pushed the door open, and walked out, heading in the opposite direction of where Miles Sterling was.
Miles Sterling followed her from a distance, watched her go halfway to a flower shop, chatting familiarly with the shop owner, then bought a few bouquets, strolling leisurely down the street in the afternoon sunshine.
This light and carefree her was something Miles Sterling had never seen.
The shaded path near her home was relatively quiet, with mostly nearby residents walking there, mostly walking dogs.
Stepping on the yellow fallen leaves on the ground would make sparse sounds, and Vanessa Sterling heard another pair of footsteps behind her on the way, following her for quite a distance.
She looked back in confusion, but besides three or two unfamiliar passersby, she didn’t see anyone suspicious.
Perhaps she was overthinking. Since having that nightmare, she’s often felt uneasy.
But thinking about it, so much time has passed. Miles Sterling always thought she was dead and wouldn’t find her anymore.
Miles Sterling hid behind a fence covered with vines; through the gaps between the vines, Vanessa Sterling climbed the white swirling staircase, took out the key, and walked into the house.
She looked around at the environment; this relatively quiet beachfront villa was her favorite style.
Seeing the villa surrounded by flowers, from afar, the second-floor balcony still vaguely held a painting easel. You couldn’t see the painting clearly, but you could imagine her sitting and painting in the sunlight at such an afternoon.
Everything was beautiful yet unfamiliar.
Miles Sterling stood behind the fence for who knows how long until he noticed an old lady passing by looking at him strangely, then turned and walked back on the path he’d come.
Knowing she was still living well and living the life she loved gave him some relief.
At least when he thinks of her, he can come see her.
Miles Sterling didn’t plan to leave so soon, but receiving a call from Quentin Sterling asking him to return to the company, Miles Sterling booked a flight for that afternoon and left.
On the way, Cynthia Ramsey sent several messages asking, but Miles didn’t reply and eventually deleted Cynthia’s contact information.
Although he couldn’t share the joy of surviving a disaster with her, at least he wouldn’t have to find someone who looked like her, to deceive himself into thinking she was still alive anymore.
Rivia.
On the day winter break started, it snowed again in Rivia, which cleared up only days earlier.
Most students had already been picked up by their families early. Hannah Sue packed up her dormitory things, and when she left campus, the streets outside were already sparsely populated.
She put the big suitcase on the electric scooter, strapped it tightly with a leather strap, put on gloves and a helmet, and disappeared at the end of the straight road on the scooter.
When she returned home, the inside was already lively.
Before entering, she heard Grace Sue’s voice: "Dad, let’s go out for dinner tonight? There’s a restaurant near our school with some dishes that are quite unique."
Followed by Old Master Sue’s doting voice: "Sure, sure, wherever Gracie wants to eat, we’ll go."
Grace Sue: "Then I’ll go upstairs and change."
Hannah Sue stood by the door for several seconds, took a deep breath, and pushed the door open to go inside.
The few people sitting in the living room stared towards the door simultaneously. Hannah Sue dragged her suitcase inside, somewhat stiffly said: "I’m back."
Old Master Sue nodded and said to Hannah Sue: "Hannah, you also go upstairs and pack; we’re heading out for dinner later."
Hannah Sue lowered her head and changed her shoes, refusing, "...You guys go. I’m not going; I have a classmate gathering tonight."
As soon as the words fell, Grace Sue, standing on the staircase, mocked, "You? Classmate gathering? Which classmate would ask you to a gathering?"
Hannah Sue ignored Grace Sue’s mocking, only tightening her grip on the suitcase pull handle, then said to Old Master Sue, "Dad, I’ve signed up for a school-organized extracurricular study group. I’m heading out of town for the winter break. I’ll leave tomorrow morning."
Old Master Sue: "Studying during winter break, huh? That’s fine; next semester is college entrance exams. Can’t play around during winter break. Go; how much do you need? Let me give it to you later."
Hannah Sue shook her head, "No need; I still have some here."
After speaking, Hannah Sue carried her suitcase, climbing the stairs on the opposite side of the hallway.
Unexpectedly, Grace Sue followed along, blocking Hannah Sue in the corridor, mocking, "What extracurricular study group? I think you’re running off to work, right? I heard about your food delivery at school, you know. You might not have any shame, but we Sue Family do!"
Hannah Sue laughed and said, "Does sister also know about the family’s dignity? Then why didn’t you think of not airing the family’s dirty laundry when you were spreading rumors and defaming me at school?"
Grace Sue "humph"ed, "Defame you? Which of my words was slander? You are a stinking shameless illegitimate daughter, just like your wretched mother!"
Hannah Sue, suppressing the anger inside, said to Grace Sue, "I hope sister doesn’t learn from your mistress of a mother later on."
