Chapter 674: Chapter 674: Vanessa Is Missing

For some unknown reason, at the moment his anger arrived, Vanessa Sterling instead felt a sense of relief in her heart.

Because she knew she couldn’t wait for that light that was about to illuminate her; the last glimmer of hope was snuffed out.

Thus, there was no luck or expectations left in her heart.

Miles Sterling glared angrily at Vanessa without saying a word, as if he was forcibly restraining himself from hitting her, then turned to pick up the computer on the coffee table and slammed it to the ground.

The force was strong, the sound was loud, and Vanessa Sterling trembled all over.

Just when she thought she would be the next object of his outburst, Miles just grabbed her forcefully, dragging her to her room.

Then he located her suitcase in the corner, pulled it over, tossed it in front of her, and coldly ordered, "Pack your things."

Vanessa looked at him, not knowing what he was planning. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

He had no patience to wait, pulling out the neatly hung clothes from the closet and stuffing them haphazardly into the suitcase. Once it was nearly full, he zipped it up.

He stuffed the suitcase into Vanessa’s hands: "Get out."

Vanessa remained still, looking at him, while Miles went up for a few minutes and quickly changed his clothes.

Downstairs, grabbing the car keys and seeing Vanessa still in the room, he coldly threatened, "Whatever I say, you’d better do, don’t force me to get physical."

Vanessa was indeed surprised, surprised he could still maintain composure and talk rationally with her after discovering that manuscript.

She wasn’t going to ask for trouble; since he was speaking to her calmly, she wouldn’t deliberately go against him.

Just unsure of where he was taking her.

Having packed a suitcase of clothes for her, it seemed unlikely he was taking her to some deserted place to kill her.

Knowing she had no choice, amidst the unknown she felt more at ease.

Sitting in the car, neither of them spoke.

Watching the scenery outside the car window slowly drift away from the city, the views along the road weren’t as lively and bustling, but she actually quite liked the countryside fields.

If Miles hadn’t packed a suitcase of clothes for her, she might really have thought he was bringing her out to destroy the evidence.

Over four hours of driving, they reached the coastal area.

The surroundings were very open and desolate, devoid of signs of habitation.

It wasn’t a developed tourist area; along the way, she only vaguely remembered brushing past a few cars, not seeing a single pedestrian.

On the distant hills, a white building could be seen faintly.

She thought that must be their destination.

Sure enough, the car turned onto a winding path, seemingly specially paved by the villa’s owner, at the end of which was the villa’s yard.

Unexpectedly, Vanessa quite liked it here.

Perhaps because she had been confined in that place for too long, or perhaps because she really liked the sea, and this was her first time at the seaside.

After entering the house, Miles took her to the second floor, noting that the lock on the door was still reversed, able to lock the door only from the outside.

Inside the room was a large floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the blue ocean, though the window was inlaid with metal burglar bars, resembling a prison cell.

"I originally didn’t want to stop you from meeting your friends, but it seems now, with those friends backing you up, you can do anything. It’s not me restricting your freedom, it’s yourself." After saying this, Miles stood by the door and locked it.

Vanessa gradually realized that it seemed she was going to be confined in an even more isolated place with no contact with the outside world.

Fortunately, over the years, she had grown accustomed to living in such a cage.

Looking through the burglar bars, the ocean outside was still very beautiful.

This kind of punishment to her was far better than being tormented to death by Miles.

Or rather, to her it didn’t even count as punishment.

It was just a change of living place.

She didn’t know how this villa was built, but evidently, Miles seemed to have planned this all along.

Because such a door lock must have been prepared for her in advance, while the room’s furnishings were complete, just without much of her personal belongings.

It was like staying in a seaside resort hotel, only unable to leave through that room door.

...

Close to eight in the evening, Audrey Sutton received a call from Jasmine Lucas saying that Vanessa’s listening device had shown abnormalities, and they couldn’t reach Vanessa’s phone; they were on their way to her house.

Audrey immediately tried to contact Vanessa through other social media, but received no response.

Soon, Jasmine called back, saying there was no response when they knocked, and after entering the house to search, they couldn’t find any trace of Vanessa.

Audrey was worried but comforted herself and Jasmine, saying, "Don’t panic yet, Vanessa might have gone out to buy something, let’s wait a bit, maybe there will be news soon."

Jasmine said, "I personally dropped her off in the afternoon. It’s my fault for being careless; I went out for dinner with friends, and upon returning to debug the listening device, I realized Vanessa’s activity couldn’t be heard. She shouldn’t have gone far even if she’s out so late; I’ll go check nearby supermarkets and convenience stores."

Audrey sat by the bedside, removing the mask from her face as Shane Warner stepped out of the bathroom. She asked, "Honey, can you look up someone’s flight record or travel trajectory?"

Shane dried his hair with a towel and sat on the bed, asking her, "What’s up now? Who do you want to check?"

Audrey replied, "Vanessa’s missing, we can’t contact her."

Shane said, "Let’s wait a bit longer; maybe her phone ran out of battery or some circumstances prevented her from hearing her phone alerts."

Audrey said, "My friends went to her house to look for her, but there’s no one there."

Shane said, "So you want me to check where she went?"

Audrey shook her head: "First, help me check if Miles Sterling returned to the country today? Can you find out?"

Understanding Audrey’s character, Shane didn’t bother to lecture her on minding her own business; instead, he reached for his phone on the bedside and said, "Faye Xavier should probably manage."

Faye was reliable at this moment, responding within two minutes: Miles Sterling arrived at the airport this morning, Master Shane, why are you checking on him?

Seeing this message, Audrey sighed inwardly: "It’s over, it’s over. He’s definitely found out."

Shane was perplexed, "What are you guys up to?"

Audrey, feeling uneasy, shared the information with Jasmine, then grew increasingly anxious.

She felt that if Miles discovered this matter in advance, Vanessa might be facing danger at the moment.

Worried, Audrey immediately called her second brother, Franklin Sutton, who said this issue had no evidence, and simply based on Audrey’s words, it couldn’t establish a case, but he would help investigate.
