Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 440: Why Should She
As Audrey Sutton was about to push the door open, Faye Xavier walked out of the office.
"Brother Xavier? You’re here too? Perfect, I made some chicken soup, a tonic for the body, why don’t you have some as well?"
Faye Xavier chuckled, glanced inside at Shane Warner, and said, "Sister-in-law, your chicken soup smells delightful, but I’m afraid to drink it. If I do, someone might decide to turn me into soup."
Audrey Sutton also picked up on Faye Xavier’s meaning, and with a laugh she replied, "He wouldn’t dare; I get the final say. I packed two extra containers. You got hurt protecting him. Wait a moment, I’ll get them for you. You can take them to Luc and Mr. Bishop, everyone gets a share."
Faye Xavier, under Shane Warner’s cold glare at the door, started with some flattery: "I’ve got to say, Master Shane is truly lucky to have married such a caring wife as you."
Audrey Sutton took out the chicken soup containers she had packed, handing a separate one to Faye Xavier: "It’s still warm, make sure you drink it while it’s hot."
"Thank you, sister-in-law," Faye Xavier said, and after taking a few steps turned back: "And thank you, Master Shane." With that, he swiftly slipped away.
Audrey Sutton started setting the food she brought on the coffee table, and said to Shane Warner, "Aren’t you hungry? Why are you just sitting there doing nothing?"
Shane Warner glared at her coldly, got up, and approached her saying, "What do you mean you get the final say? Can’t they just buy chicken soup outside themselves?"
Audrey Sutton handed him chopsticks and said, "Why so stingy? I made so much, can you finish it all on your own? Besides, Brother Xavier doesn’t have family to take care of him, and he considers you a brother. He got injured, and you just ignore him? What kind of brother are you?"
"You make quite the competent sister-in-law," Shane Warner remarked.
Audrey Sutton laughed and handed him his portion of the chicken soup: "You say I like to be jealous, but I think you’re pretty fond of it yourself."
Shane Warner glanced at her and said, "Let’s not make a habit of this."
Audrey Sutton: "You’re so stingy."
Shane Warner sipped the flavorful soup and felt warmth spread through him. He asked, "What time do we go to the school this afternoon?"
Audrey Sutton: "We’ll head there after eating, I need to accompany Bear to buy some exam supplies."
Shane Warner: "Don’t go too far."
Audrey Sutton: "We’ll stay near the school. By the way, your birthday is coming up soon, do you want anything special? I’ll buy it for you."
Shane Warner: "You’re asking me what I want as a gift? Can’t I buy anything I want myself?"
Audrey Sutton pouted: "Fine, just buy it yourself then."
Shane Warner glanced at her and said, "Whatever you buy, I’ll like."
Audrey Sutton: "I’ve been browsing online for days but can’t decide what to get, it’s driving me crazy."
Shane Warner: "The gift doesn’t matter; it’s the thought that counts."
Audrey Sutton teased: "How about some fallen leaves from the Champs-Élysées? My third brother is in Serephina right now, I can have him bring you a couple."
Shane Warner suddenly said, "Why don’t you paint a picture for me? You’ve painted for other men but not for me yet."
Upon hearing this, Audrey Sutton immediately refuted: "What do you mean I haven’t painted for you? I paint every day, you know?"
Shane Warner seemed as if he’d successfully baited her, laughing slyly as if he’d caught his prey falling into a trap: "Admit it? Didn’t you deny that the paintings were of me before?"
Audrey Sutton realized she had fallen for his trick, and with a huff, replied: "Anyone with half a brain could see who it was, yet you still ask."
After lunch, Audrey Sutton took a car straight to the school.
Barry Barrett was waiting for her at the art supplies shop entrance, which was right opposite Clarissa Morgan’s dance studio.
As Audrey Sutton got out of the car, she just managed to catch sight of Clarissa Morgan, who was briskly walking out of the dance studio on the phone, seemingly in a hurry. She quickly drove off.
Audrey Sutton was about to turn around when she suddenly saw Nolan Hawke come out of the dance studio. Instinctively, she glanced at Barry Barrett, who was focused on the store’s window display and hadn’t noticed Nolan Hawke.
Audrey Sutton was also worried that Barry Barrett might see Nolan Hawke and trigger past sadness, so she quickly led Barry Barrett into the store.
Using the excuse of looking at merchandise, Audrey Sutton peeked through the seam in the window and watched Nolan Hawke drive away.
The two of them, one after the other, what are they scheming?
Clarissa Morgan also appeared different from usual, looking flustered, as if she loathed the dance studio and wanted to get away from it immediately.
Nolan Hawke, on the other hand, seemed relaxed and at ease, as if he’d negotiated something with Clarissa Morgan and was in control.
There must be something fishy going on between these two.
Brother Quinn had previously mentioned that the two had been interacting frequently recently, but no intimate photos had been captured.
It’s just, considering Nolan Hawke previously resorted to drugging, regardless of whether it worked, Clarissa Morgan should have cut ties with him. Instead, their interactions seem more frequent, maybe Nolan Hawke has something on Clarissa Morgan that she’s worried about.
No wonder Clarissa Morgan hasn’t been causing trouble lately. It’s probably a case of desperation.
"Sutton, what are you looking at?"
"Ah? Nothing, just thought this cup looks pretty nice."
Barry Barrett tapped her forehead: "I’m preparing for exams, and you’re looking at cups and such? That’s not auspicious, come upstairs with me."
Perhaps it’s fortunate Barry Barrett broke it off with Nolan Hawke early. Had they gotten married, Barry Barrett could have ended up in a real mess.
...
Clarissa Morgan, wearing a mask and baseball cap, concealed herself completely and walked into a roadside pharmacy, buying oral contraceptives. She quickly washed them down with water in the car and then discarded the box into a roadside trash can.
Disgusting, absolutely disgusting, filth everywhere, enough to make you sick.
Now, just thinking of Nolan Hawke’s face or hearing his voice makes her nauseous.
She must find a way to escape this bottomless pit of a demon, she remembers him saying that once he’s bored, he’ll leave her alone.
And he’s always had an interest in Audrey Sutton, last time he went out of his way and still didn’t succeed, but he can’t seem to let go.
Since that’s the case, why can’t she use the same tactics on Audrey Sutton?
What she’s been through, she wants Audrey Sutton to experience it too.
To see this dark world, to taste the revulsion in life.
Why does Audrey Sutton get to live clean and brightly under the sun?
Why did Audrey Sutton easily get things she couldn’t?
Someone must be the winner; why can’t it be her?
She has faced so much already, she isn’t afraid anymore, and she just wants to destroy Audrey Sutton. Even if she can’t have Shane Warner anymore, she won’t allow Shane Warner to belong to another woman.
