Mr. Tycoon's Beloved Wife: The Madam No One Dares to Offend-Chapter 283: Her Emily Was Gone
Margaret felt a little strange when Julian looked at her. She wondered why he was glaring at her.
Was he showing his seriousness, or indicating that he was handsome and cool?
Riya leaned forward and whispered, "Margaret, no wonder you have a fianc at such an old age. It is not easy for your family to have you get married."
"What do you mean? You don’t even have a fianc, let alone get married."
Riya was embarrassed. "Outstanding women like me are too picky about their partners. I can’t be with someone I dislike."
Margaret calmed down.
After that, their game continued. Margaret was still defeated. Although Julian was sitting beside her, he was unable to bring her luck.
Margaret was so angry that she lowered her head and muttered, "Sure enough, we don’t match at all. I can’t do anything well with him beside me."
She regretted it now. She should have taken a servant here. With Julian sitting next to her, her luck had been scared away by him.
She had thought that she would win easily with Julian beside her. After all, Julian was a CEO who owned billions. But things didn’t work out the way she wanted it.
Perhaps the man sitting next to her was a fake CEO.
"Next round, I’ll play it."
Julian finally spoke.
Margaret turned to look at him and asked, "Why should I let you play it?"
"Do you have any money now?"
Margaret looked down at her empty wallet, feeling angry.
"Margaret, if you don’t have money, you can’t write an IOU to us. We’ve agreed to settle the accounts at the end of each round. You can’t go back on your word."
Margaret didn’t know how to reply. She gritted her teeth and turned to look at Julian. "You can play it the next round, but you are responsible for this round and the money you lose."
Julian rolled his eyes at her and replied, "If I win, you get the money."
Margaret said inwardly, "Dude, you are sensible."
Only then did Margaret willingly move away from her seat and sit in Julian’s seat, watching him hold the cards.
For several times, Halle wanted to leave. When she knew that Julian wanted to play
cards, she intended to ask him to take her place. However, Horton pressed on her shoulders forced her to stay.
Horton used to be gentle and kind.
But now, it was as if he had changed dramatically.
He was smiling gently, watching her play cards and he would give some opinions when she asked. He still did not say much, but Halle just felt that he was quite different today. She could not help glancing at him.
He was still the same as before, and he had never changed.
Halle bit her lips and said, "Isn’t it late? The banquet downstairs is probably over. Why don’t we quit playing it?"
Halle spoke in a low voice. Everyone here had a higher status than her. She knew that her opinion was of no importance.
Margaret disagreed. "How can that be? Halle, you can’t go right after winning the money. This is against the rules. It should be me, the loser, who quit first."
Was there such a rule?
Halle was slightly stunned. She had never played cards before, so she did not know the rules.
It turned out that after winning the money, one could not say that the match was over and had to wait for the loser to say it. Obviously, Margaret did not intend to say that.
"Go ahead. When Margaret and Julian lose all the money in their wallets, they will surely admit defeat."
Riya waved her hand with a smile. Halle looked at Julian and frowned with worry.
How could a big shot with a net worth of tens of billions lose out so easily? Even if they played cards for a year, it would be impossible for them to win all of Julian’s money.
Margaret was very careful. She only had a little money in her wallet, because she was afraid that she would lose too much money before Julian did.
"We just shifted and you guys said to quit. Isn’t that too unfair? Are you afraid of losing the money you just won?"
Margaret shouted with an arrogant tone.
Halle didn’t know how to reply. She was not afraid of losing money, but afraid of the man sitting beside her.
Horton had been sitting quietly and did not say anything. But he did not let her leave. That made her very nervous. She did not know what he meant.
"Fine. Go ahead. I didn’t say I quitted. If I don’t win your money, I won’t be able to sleep tonight."
Riya became more excited and pulled Halle to continue.
Julian began playing cards and the situation changed.
Julian was the landlord five consecutive times and won a lot of money. In the blink of an eye, he won back what Margaret lost.
Margaret burst into a loud guffaw, standing in an imposing manner.
Riya was annoyed about her failure.
She felt that Julian was here to deal with her and Halle on purpose. His cards sometimes were not very high but he still won.
"Let me have a try!"
Stefan had been silent ever since Riya’s retort. After taking some fruit for Riya, he sat quietly at the side, watching them play cards.
As soon as he said that, Riya vented her anger on him by saying, "What are you talking about? Can you win if you try?"
"Yes, I can," Stefan said lightly.
Riya was still angry, but when she saw his eyes, she felt that her anger had been suppressed. It didn’t matter if he could win or not. She just didn’t want to become Margaret’s laughing stock.
Stefan and Riya changed their positions. Now the players were two men and one woman. Halle looked at the two big shots opposite her in a panic.
She was not good at playing cards at all. Now she was playing the game with these two powerful men, she was too nervous to see her cards clearly.
"I’ll try it."
A gentle voice came from behind. Halle did not have the time to consider who said this and quickly stuffed the cards in her hand into Horton’s hand.
She stood up and said, "I’ll go and get everyone something to eat."
She guessed they were going to play cards until very late, and she wondered if she could return to her room to have a sleep.
Just as Halle left the room, Riya’s eyes immediately fell on Horton.
As fast as a cat rushed over to its food.
She chuckled at Horton and asked in a low voice, "Are you chasing Hilla’s sister?"
"Yes."
Horton actually did not deny it or avoid the question.
Riya was slightly stunned. She patted Horton on the shoulder and said, "Come on. Not everyone can be Bruce’s brother-in-law."
Margaret chuckled when she heard that. She said, "Don’t worry, Horton has no chance. Halle doesn’t like him."
Horton frowned and replied in a serious voice, "I have a chance."
...
Margaret laughed at Horton’s words.
She grew up with Horton and was used to making fun of Horton by "insulting".
"You have a chance? Are you daydreaming?"
All of a sudden.
Riya broke into a fit of giggles.
Looking at Horton, she teased, "You’re a deputy director, a Hutt, and an internationally renowned doctor. You’re not so weak, right?"
"But Halle is different."
Not being ordinary, Halle was a high-born lady.
Although her marriage was unfortunate, Halle had her pride.
It was because of this marriage that Halle no longer believed in men and was unwilling to marry again.
The rejection in her heart made it hard for Horton.
She was neither as naive as Margaret, nor as willful as Riya.
Because Halle was too rational. She was loyal and responsible for marriage. She was more unwilling with the idea of what she would face after marriage.
Horton was clear that if it wasn’t for Titus who didn’t cherish her, Halle would never divorce.
Titus had touched Halle’s bottom line, making her heart forever closed.
"Halle is indeed different from us. She was married and had a little girl. How about treating her child nicely? Halle might agree to it when she finds you to be so sincere."
Touching her chin, Riya was giving serious advice to Horton this time. However, when Horton heard this, he only smiled bitterly.
"It’s useless. She won’t let me approach Emily at all."
In the past, he had also thought of putting some effort into Emily since Halle loved her the most, but the result wasn’t smooth as expected.
Riya asked in surprise, "No way. Is Halle so cautious?"
"But it doesn’t look like so. We all can be with Emily. It can’t be that you can’t get close to her, right?"
Margaret rolled her eyes. "Halle is only wary of Horton!"
Margaret burst into laughter after she finished speaking.
The more miserable Horton was, the more wonderful she felt.
"Just to guard against you? What did you do? Or did you force Halle that she’s afraid of you now?"
Horton frowned, and even Stefan couldn’t stand it anymore. Stefan pulled Riya back to his side, "You talk too much."
Riya glared at Stefan with displeasure, "It’s none of your business!"
Stefan was speechless.
"Maybe Halle hates me!"
Horton recalled the accident that happened between him and Halle. Although it had been a few years, that night was still fresh in his memory.
That night when he was treating a friend, he was blocked by Halle who fainted in front of his car as soon as he left the housing estate.
Everything would be fine if she made way for him.
After getting out of the car to wake her up, he was unexpectedly pinned to the ground and kissed.
He was a doctor who was a neat freak, so logically he should push away her without hesitation.
But that day, he must have been crazy. He thought the smell of alcohol on that woman was particularly good. Instead of driving her away, he even took her to his apartment.
Horton assumed that he should be obscene and despicable in Halle’s mind. She must think he took her home with dubious motives.
Somehow that night, he put Halle on the sofa in the living room, looking at the strange drunk woman. He suddenly felt funny and crazy. Fortunately, without intending to do anything, he just tucked her in and went back to his room to take a shower and rest.
He thought they would not have any interaction tomorrow morning, but unexpectedly Halle entered his room at the midnight, went to his bed, and then pressed upon him.
Horton was recollecting every detail at that time. Back then, he called out, "Girl!"
Halle slapped him and then fiercely said, "How dare you call me like that? Jerk, I’ll punish you!"
At that time, Horton was stunned. He thought, "Was she crazy or drunk?" He intended to push her away, but Halle kissed his lips.
As a man, he could have struggled free, but that night he was stripped of his clothes by Halle before he figured out what was going on.
In the beginning, Horton was passive and innocent, but it could not be denied that he was reluctant to stop.
Because he was a doctor, when things happened, he knew that it was Halle’s first time. He had mixed feelings, both happy and guilty, but in the end, they were nothing compared with the most real feeling in his body.
He did enjoy the night, satisfied and crazy.
He thought that the next morning, he would comfort her and be responsible for her.
Even though it was not all him to blame, he was not drunk that night.
Being nervous and merry, he didn’t even feel sleepy at all. He carefully examined the woman on the bed and then remembered her.
However, when he woke up in the morning, she was nowhere to be found and nothing was left except the patch of red on the bedsheet. He was dumped strangely.
"Mr. Hutt, what are you thinking about?"
Since Horton froze for a long time and did not play the cards, Riya poked his shoulder.
She jested with a smile, "Were you thinking about something impure just now?" "Someone like him who helps people fix their brains is not pure in the first place." Margaret felt free to ridicule him.
Horton had long been used to play jokes on each other with Margaret and was not in the mood to reply to her for a while. Then, he looked at the cards in his hand and did not want to play. Just as he was about to put them down, he saw Halle rushing in.
"What’s the matter?"
Horton subconsciously felt something. He threw the cards onto the table and walked towards Halle.
"Have any of you seen Emily? Is she here?"
Halle’s face was pale and her eyes were full of panic.
As she was searching every corner and the gap under the table, she shouted anxiously, "Emily, where are you? Come out, don’t scare me. Don’t play hide-and-seek, okay?"
It was so late. Emily should be sleeping in the room, but when she returned to the room, she could no longer find Emily.
The guests downstairs had left, and only some servants were cleaning up.
Although the lights in the courtyard were still on, there was no sign of Emily upstairs or downstairs. Halle instantly got anxious.
Emily must have woken up and found no one around, so she ran out to find her out of fear.
There were so many guests today and she should not have left Emily alone in the room.
She was too careless, failing to take care of Emily.
