Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 213: This Is Just Too Much
"Miss Quinn, are you okay?" Nathan Ayers quickly went to support Selena Quinn.
She weakly shook her head and gave a bitter smile, "I’m fine, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have come out without permission. The illness isn’t fully recovered, and I’ll be scolded by the doctor again when I go back."
As she said this, Selena Quinn kept watching Ethan Sterling’s back, deliberately for him to hear.
Was he really so heartless? She had ended up in the hospital to save him, nearly not being resuscitated.
She disregarded everything, even risking her life, just hoping she could hold a tiny place in his heart.
But how could he act like this?
Ethan Sterling suddenly paused, which brought delight to Selena Quinn. Could it be that he was about to turn back?
However, Ethan Sterling quickly resumed his large strides to the car, a trace of displeasure in his eyes, "Didn’t I tell you, you can only wear off-shoulder clothes at home?"
"..."
This time, it was Seraphina Redgrave who was left speechless.
But in the end, she resignedly pulled up her off-shoulder garment to cover her fair shoulders.
"Is this okay now?"
"Barely acceptable."
He looked at Seraphina Redgrave’s delicate neck and was reminded of some previous memories, ah, very sweet.
Selena Quinn had never seen her elder brother speak to a woman this way, she almost spat blood in shock.
Why? She was Ethan Sterling’s lifesaver. Even if he didn’t treat her differently, at least a thank you was due, right?
But there was nothing at all!
Ethan Sterling smoothly walked around the car body and sat in the passenger seat.
Seraphina Redgrave stepped on the gas, waved goodbye to Selena Quinn when passing her, yet didn’t take a single look at her.
Damn it! This was sheer contempt.
Selena Quinn’s face grew even paler, as if she might vanish in the next second.
"Miss Quinn, are you alright?!" Nathan Ayers immediately ordered the bodyguards to escort Selena Quinn to the hospital.
If this young lady died in his hands, he would be done for.
...
Nathan Ayers simply accompanied the driver to send Selena Quinn back to the hospital.
Selena Quinn’s expression was bleak, the resentment in her heart almost devouring her sanity.
"Special Assistant Ayers, I want to know, during my hospitalization, did my elder brother visit me, even if it was just once?"
Selena Quinn still harbored expectations for Ethan Sterling.
In actuality, she knew that Ethan Sterling never came; she was deceiving herself from start to finish.
"This... I hope Miss Quinn can understand Young Master Sterling’s difficulties, company affairs are hectic, Young Master Sterling genuinely can’t free himself." Nathan Ayers could only explain this way.
Busy? Not necessarily.
He just wasn’t attentive to her.
He even remembered what Seraphina Redgrave wore so clearly, how could he be too busy?
To Ethan Sterling, Selena Quinn was like a dead person in his heart!
The day Seraphina Redgrave was assassinated, there were actually two groups of assassins, apart from the ones sent by Caleb Crawford.
She was uneasy, so she secretly hired another group.
That day, she originally went to see if the assassination plan was successful, but upon seeing a sword pointed at Ethan Sterling.
Her mind stirred; since she couldn’t draw Ethan Sterling’s attention normally, she’d gamble her life, betting he would thank her, treat her differently.
She was the most suitable person to stand beside Ethan Sterling; she loved him more than Seraphina Redgrave!
But she didn’t account that the arrow would wound her so severely, landing her in the ICU, comatose for days.
But that didn’t matter; as long as she didn’t die, she could wait for Ethan Sterling’s gratitude.
On the day she finally awoke, the room was only filled with her parents and doctors, nurses.
She desperately searched for that tall figure, but it was all in vain, he hadn’t come at all.
In the end, she could only hopefully ask her mother if Ethan Sterling had visited her, yet the answer was no.
She was almost dead, why couldn’t she receive a different regard from him?
Later, she insisted on being discharged and returning to school, but what awaited her was only the downfall of Summit Society, as high as it was before, now as belittled.
Everything changed so swiftly.
Caleb Crawford took the blame and was expelled.
The other members were unwilling to stay longer, left and scattered, once so glorious Summit Society, now as deserted as the walls.
The splendid Summit Society building, its walls were all adorned with posters of The Defiance Society, such an ironic contrast.
Though she managed to escape unscathed from that assassination, she was left with nothing.
Summit Society ceased to exist, replaced by the ridiculous The Defiance Society.
Even the man she loved most was manipulated by Seraphina Redgrave.
Seraphina Redgrave, Seraphina Redgrave, it was all because of her!
Why was this woman constantly against her!
If only she disappeared, would everything return to normal?
Selena Quinn’s heart ached so much, the pain obscured her notice of her hand being squeezed to a bloody mess.
Her life, in Ethan Sterling’s heart, probably wasn’t even worth half a finger of Seraphina Redgrave’s.
Selena Quinn’s face was sinister, lids drooped, not letting others discover the raging storm inside her heart.
Suddenly, she noticed a law book in the car’s corner, belonging to The Law Council.
"Special Assistant Ayers, whose book is this?" Selena Quinn moved her chapped lips.
"It’s Miss Sylvia’s." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Sylvia?" Selena Quinn glanced at the book in her hand, eyes flashing with calculation.
Recently, the news reported that the President was very satisfied with The Defiance Society, especially Seraphina Redgrave, praised for her courage and strategy, breaking conventions, those civilians gave her great support.
Now studying The Law Council’s book, intending to enter The Law Council?
Fine.
If that’s the case.
If she enters, I’ll enter too!
Staying close to Seraphina Redgrave, there’ll be no worry of not seeing Ethan Sterling, even, getting rid of this troublesome obstacle.
...
The dining place was chosen as a high-end restaurant near the Sterling Group.
In the open-air courtyard, clusters of purple lavender spread around the dining tables, adorned with some white baby’s breath.
Each dining table had sufficient distance between them, separated by flower walls, no need to worry about privacy issues.
The air was filled with a faint fragrance of flowers, making people feel at ease.
Ethan Sterling directly booked the entire venue, with all staff serving only Ethan Sterling and Seraphina Redgrave.
The two sat facing each other, Ethan Sterling took out that necklace worth 120 million dollars and seriously helped Seraphina Redgrave put it on.
Afterwards, he nodded in satisfaction, then took out a huge gift box, "This is a new limited edition dress from brand D, it matches the necklace well."
Extravagant to the extreme... Seraphina Redgrave secretly scoffed.
"Why have you been so fond of giving me gifts lately?" Seraphina Redgrave couldn’t help but ask.
"Does one need a reason to give gifts to one’s own woman?" A trace of slyness flashed in Ethan Sterling’s bright eyes.
"Hmmm... just want to make you happy."
Ethan Sterling doubted himself for a moment, was he not obvious enough? Did she still not notice?
Seraphina Redgrave was momentarily unsure how to respond, she simply muttered, "This is too much."
