Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Two Groups

Seraphina Redgrave looked at the sleeve arrow stained with blood; such a long arrow being removed, yet Ethan Sterling managed to endure it without a sound.

Seraphina raised her hand and patted Ethan on his other shoulder, speaking softly: "It’s all better, it doesn’t hurt anymore."

Upon hearing this, Ethan pulled Seraphina in front of him, resting his head against her, the faint fragrance from her body lingering at the tip of his nose.

The pain relief was effective.

Seraphina looked at the blood seeping from Ethan, her brow furrowing tightly.

By the time Seraphina realized, her hand had already gently wrapped around Ethan’s shoulder, softly patting him where he wasn’t injured.

Seeing this, Nathan Ayers understood everything.

"Fortunately, no organs were damaged, just some bone injury. I will now stitch up the wound."

Dr. Goodwin began to treat the wound, slowly suturing it.

Ethan leaned against Seraphina, his breathing irregular, yet he remained silent, as if enduring immense pain. Seraphina couldn’t help but gently clench her fists.

She didn’t know how to comfort Ethan verbally, so she continuously patted his shoulder.

Ethan felt Seraphina’s fingertips.

Damn, what else could be hurting?

Suturing without anesthesia, the pain wasn’t any less than when he got injured. Seraphina let Ethan lean on her, for the first time feeling time dragging on.

It took a long while before Dr. Goodwin finished stitching the wound, securing the gauze on Ethan’s shoulder, and after he was done, he pushed back slightly, lowered his head respectfully, and said, "Young Master Sterling, the wound has been treated, you’ll need to rest for a few days, and remember to take antibiotics to prevent fever."

Ethan heard none of it, breathing heavily while leaning on Seraphina.

Nathan stood aside, witnessing everything clearly; since Seraphina appeared, Young Master Sterling has indeed become different from before.

Such a drastic change in a short period, truly frightening.

Dr. Goodwin stood beside them, also feeling the complexity of the situation, roughly guessing the relationship between Ethan and Seraphina.

"Is there anything else to be cautious about?"

Seraphina looked up at Dr. Goodwin.

No matter what, Ethan’s injury was because of her, she couldn’t do nothing.

"Nothing else." Dr. Goodwin looked up, gazing at Seraphina’s clean-cut features, thought for a moment and then spoke again, "For now, avoid intercourse."

When those last two words were spoken, Dr. Goodwin’s expression was grave.

People around Ethan understood human affairs completely.

Seraphina really wanted to poke their eyes blind.

"I’ll be off, then."

Seeing his work was done, Dr. Goodwin lowered his head and walked out, suddenly remembering something, turned back to Ethan, then looked at Seraphina, seemingly wanting to say something.

"What’s wrong?" Seraphina proactively asked, "I can step out."

Dr. Goodwin probably wanted to speak to Ethan alone.

"Speak."

Ethan wrapped his arm around Seraphina’s waist, not lifting his gaze, his voice hoarse.

Seeing this scene, Dr. Goodwin was surprised looking at Seraphina, realizing this lady was different from Ethan’s previous women, actually gaining such trust from Young Master Sterling.

Dr. Goodwin spoke: "Young Master Sterling, you know, due to your physical condition, your mental state might be affected, so if there’s any discomfort while recovering, please come find me."

He wasn’t talking about the injury on Ethan’s body; he was talking about Ethan’s genetic-type mania.

Upon hearing this, Ethan chuckled, but there was no trace of mirth in his eyes. Could such a minor injury trigger an episode?

Just as he was about to speak, Seraphina’s voice rang out: "Could it affect him?"

Her tone was calm, but to Ethan’s ear, it conveyed concern.

Ethan swallowed his words, remaining silent.

Dr. Goodwin’s gaze toward Seraphina got even stranger; she actually knew about Ethan’s condition, and after a while, he shook himself out of his thoughts: "If Young Master Sterling is in a good mood, then there’s nothing to worry about."

"Hmm."

Seraphina nodded, indicating she understood.

Dr. Goodwin pushed a cart as he left. Seraphina looked at the man in her arms: "Take a rest; if it hurts, just lay down or lie flat."

"It’s fine, I can endure it." Ethan took a deep breath and then clenched his teeth, as if enduring immense pain.

Seraphina felt a bit uncomfortable hearing this; she touched Ethan’s head and awkwardly spoke: "The wound has just been stitched; it probably doesn’t feel too great, but it’ll get better by tonight."

Ethan leaned against Seraphina, unmoving.

Nathan handed over a black shirt, Seraphina took it and draped it over Ethan’s shoulder, saying: "Are you hungry? Shall I make some porridge for you?"

"You can make porridge?"

Ethan’s voice was filled with suppressed pain.

"I can’t cook extravagant dishes, but porridge I can manage; do you want some?"

This was the first time Seraphina was cooking something for him.

"Yes."

Ethan answered.

"Then lie down first." Seraphina wanted to help Ethan lay down.

Ethan shook his head: "No, I want to sit... it’s okay..."

Seraphina looked down at him, only to see his face pale; he really seemed to be in great pain. She gently released Ethan, frowned, and said: "Sit for a while, then lie down."

"Okay."

Ethan lowered his head to sit; even droplets of sweat started falling from his hair. Seraphina knew these were cold sweats from Ethan, he looked extremely haggard.

It was the first time Seraphina had seen Ethan like this.

Her figure disappeared at the door, Ethan sat up straight, his eyes filled with sharpness. He reached out to unbutton his shirt, the motion pulling his wound, and the veins on his forehead pulsed twice.

"What about the assassin?"

His face was still pale, but all trace of weakness had vanished, leaving only gloom.

Young Master Sterling’s face-changing skills were truly impressive.

This was Ethan Sterling’s true self.

"Alive, being interrogated while in surgery. At first he said nothing, but now he’s talking. Said it was a job from Caleb Crawford, the young master of the Crawford Family."

Nathan dutifully reported. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"And what about the people in the rest area?"

Ethan’s gaze turned cold as he buttoned up, pain spreading across his back.

"The ones who locked themselves in the room with Miss have been captured as well, also claimed to be under Caleb Crawford," Nathan replied, "After severing ties with the Crawford Family, he still doesn’t know his mistake and dares to act against Miss."

Ethan pressed his shoulder, a deep shadow flitting through his eyes, his voice growing somber: "No, it wouldn’t have been the same group."

One group was tasked with creating an ’accident’, while another aimed for Seraphina’s life.
