Chapter 175: Chapter 175: I Quit

The principal was in a bind as well. Who on earth let Seraphina Redgrave in, causing so much trouble?

Causing trouble could be overlooked if only there weren’t any flaws to pick on, but she had the whole school in turmoil.

From pulling Councilman Redgrave down to drawing attention to the "Tower," almost every student from a less privileged background was siding with Seraphina Redgrave now.

If she really got the students organized to do something, it’s doubtful there’d be any who wouldn’t follow her.

If a student strike or even a protest occurred, he could be forced to resign out of shame.

The principal sighed repeatedly, really uncertain about what to do.

Just then, Seraphina Redgrave placed a document in front of the principal and smiled gently, "Principal, since this is the situation now, let’s not give each other more trouble. Let’s allow The Defiance Society to be established in the school."

"But..."

"If you think our two clubs are too similar, we can have healthy competition, and the loser disbands."

She spoke each word deliberately, with immense force behind them.

"What do you mean? You want the Elite Society to gamble with you on the right to exist?"

The principal was dumbfounded.

Everyone’s expressions were quite colorful, with Selena Quinn and Caleb Crawford staring wide-eyed.

The seven prospective members of The Defiance Society sat in the far corner of the meeting room, dazed by Seraphina Redgrave’s words—this was something they hadn’t dared to imagine.

Seraphina is just Seraphina!

Ronan Yates had completely evolved into an unquestioning little fanboy of Seraphina Redgrave.

"I’m just suggesting the easiest way," Seraphina Redgrave said.

"Do you know how many years of history the Elite Society has?"

Teacher Young looked at Seraphina Redgrave, shocked, thinking she must have lost her mind.

"Many countries that existed for hundreds of years didn’t crumble overnight; it’s just a school club. If it disbands due to internal rot, isn’t that usual?"

Seraphina Redgrave said with a smile.

"You... you’re being unreasonable!"

Teacher Young was so angry he could barely contain himself.

"If the Elite Society is really as great as it thinks, why would it even mind our emerging club?"

Seraphina Redgrave turned her head and spoke to Selena Quinn, seated in her chair, with a smile, "I’m not wrong, am I, Director Quinn?"

Addressed personally, Selena Quinn quickly adjusted her expression to a gentle smile, "Our students in the Elite Society aren’t fools, so why would they fear you?"

"Principal, deans, Director Quinn has no objection; do any of you have something to say?"

Seraphina Redgrave immediately turned her gaze back to the principal.

Why didn’t Selena Quinn refute anything just now? How could she contradict it without saying the Elite Society wouldn’t take up the challenge?

Selena Quinn swallowed her frustration, sitting there, unable to suppress a cough.

Seeing this, the seven prospective members exchanged glances, gaining confidence internally.

Seraphina Redgrave truly had some skills.

They had hope now.

Everyone’s eyes on Seraphina Redgrave changed from initial skepticism and distrust.

The principal was at a loss for words against Seraphina Redgrave, but fortunately, when Caleb Crawford first approached him, they had discussed this issue.

If Seraphina Redgrave had no fatal flaws, it was best not to focus on her anymore and instead target other aspects.

With that thought, the principal sat up straight and said, "Alright, then we need to see the files of the first batch of members."

As soon as he finished, the principal and the deans began examining the documents before them.

Oh, all of them were ordinary students.

Seraphina Redgrave was clearly up to something.

Seraphina Redgrave returned to her seat.

"Beatrice Fawcett, why do you want to join the club?" a dean asked.

The ice-cold beauty Beatrice Fawcett stood up and said, "I just want every student to be on the same starting line and to use their brains to determine eligibility for exams, not their economic background. What the Elite Society can’t do, I believe The Defiance Society can."

"Great! The Defiance Society definitely can!"

Ronan Yates, always the atmosphere maker, started clapping energetically, and many others followed his lead, almost losing control of the situation.

Selena Quinn sat there, glancing over at Caleb Crawford with a bitter expression.

"Don’t worry, I still have a plan."

Seeing this, Caleb Crawford quietly comforted Selena Quinn and then turned to Beatrice Fawcett and said, "Beatrice Fawcett, I know you; your mother runs a stall outside the school, right? She works hard, doesn’t she?"

Hearing this, Beatrice Fawcett turned her head, glaring at Caleb Crawford with eyes full of hatred.

She had also entered the Elite Society through an SSS pass initially, but its rules barred her from good resources. She had wanted to speak out, but her mother suddenly lost her job, and she received anonymous warnings to behave.

After her mother became unemployed, she found no other work and resorted to doing manual labor at a stall.

She knew it was the Elite Society behind it, but she didn’t plan to join again. Yet these people still wanted to target her.

Seraphina Redgrave watched Beatrice Fawcett from her seat, noticing her eyes filled with hatred, her hands trembling slightly—she was scared.

After a long pause, Beatrice Fawcett let all her strength fade away, closed her eyes, "Okay, I quit."

Ronan Yates was stunned, "What are you doing?"

Beatrice Fawcett ignored him, walking straight out of the meeting room, unwilling to let her mother be implicated any further.

Seeing this, Caleb Crawford smiled triumphantly. A few mere ordinary students were nothing to fear.

Seraphina Redgrave was so naive, thinking she could succeed by storming through obstacles.

He turned and mouthed something to a few guys from the Elite Society, one of whom had been prepared and walked over to the remaining six people’s side, whispering a few words.

The other six people’s expressions changed—a variety of emotions on their faces—but ultimately they all stood up, deflated, "We quit too."

"What’s wrong with you!"

Ronan Yates was almost furious, "You members of the Elite Society, confront us head-on if you dare, what’s the point of all this secrecy?"

If The Defiance Society had no members, how could the school possibly approve it?

The others were also threatened.

Seraphina Redgrave gave a small scoff as Ronan Yates stood anxiously, unable to keep them, and could only look helplessly at Seraphina Redgrave, "Seraphina..."

"Don’t worry."

Seraphina Redgrave was unbelievably calm.

The students who initially wanted to join the club all left the meeting room, allowing the principal to finally relax and say, "What’s going on here? Your Defiance Society has no members; how can we approve it?"

"Who says there aren’t? I’m still here!"

Ronan Yates stood up excitedly.

"Can you two beat the Elite Society in major competitions?" the principal asked.

Ronan Yates was at a loss for words.

He couldn’t, but Seraphina could. Yet, how could Seraphina compete in all those competitions alone? One slip-up and it’s over, so what could they do?

The entire meeting room fell silent, everyone looking at Seraphina Redgrave, waiting to hear her response.

Poor her, after putting in so much effort, she faced resistance from both the school administration and the Elite Society, and now even her members had left.

The audience murmured softly.

Selena Quinn sat there, her eyes involuntarily filled with a hint of joy.

She was happy to see something go wrong for Seraphina Redgrave.

But before she could maintain her smile for even two seconds, she heard Seraphina Redgrave say, "In one minute, they’ll change their minds."
