Chapter 978: Chapter 978: Eliminating the Lockwood Family

Ann Vaughn’s blood rushed straight to her brain, and the silver needle in her fingertips clasped tighter and tighter. When the time was right, she flicked her left wrist!

Several streaks of silver flashed through the air, leaving only a few blurred shadows.

Immediately, the sound of the needle piercing flesh "puchi" was heard. The shadow clutched his painful wrist, dropping the short knife, his eyes filled with terror as he retreated, covering the bleeding neck!

Seeing this, Ann Vaughn just breathed a sigh of relief when suddenly a sharp shout came from behind her!

"Annie!"

Ann Vaughn whirled around in shock, discovering another man in black with a knife just half a centimeter from her!

However, he did not succeed, knocked unconscious by Elliot with a single palm strike, collapsing to the ground with a thud!

Seeing this scene, cold sweat broke out all over Ann Vaughn, standing still, evidently frightened by the sudden turn of events.

She hadn’t noticed anyone behind her at all earlier. If Elliot hadn’t arrived in time, she might not have been so lucky...

"Annie!" Elliot quickly approached Ann Vaughn, his brows knitted, scanning her from top to bottom, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

Ann Vaughn’s face turned pale. Just as she was about to answer, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that the shadow was already by the window, and she immediately pointed—

"Brother! We can’t let him escape!"

Unexpectedly, in the next second, the shadow agilely flipped and jumped directly out of the window!

Ann Vaughn and Elliot rushed to the window, using the garden lights to look around, but they couldn’t see any trace of the shadow.

"He still got away..." Ann Vaughn frowned tightly, secretly annoyed, but then she heard a respectful voice coming from somewhere downstairs.

"Miss Vaughn, the person has been captured. Should we imprison him or interrogate him now?"

"Hex?" Ann Vaughn looked downstairs in surprise, but saw no sign of him, so she had to ask, "Why are you here?"

He was James Vaughn’s personal bodyguard and should have been at Villa 8.

"We just received the order, sir sent us over to ensure your safety. If you need anything, just call out, and we’re here at any time." Hex replied respectfully.

Hearing him say "we" instead of "I," Ann Vaughn was even more surprised.

Did James Vaughn send all his personal bodyguards to protect her?

What about himself?

Instantly, the slight grievance in Ann Vaughn’s heart deflated like a popped balloon. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Seeing his sister in a daze, Elliot thought for a moment and asked Hex, "Did James Vaughn leave any other messages?"

Hex hesitated, "Sir asked me to tell Miss Vaughn... his phone number has not been compromised, please rest assured."

The words made no sense at all to the point where Hex felt he must have heard wrong, which is why he hadn’t mentioned it earlier.

But how did Mr. Sheridan know?

Ann Vaughn just regained her senses, and happened to hear Hex’s words "phone number has not been compromised," her mind blanked for a moment, and shame came over her belatedly.

Thankfully, Elliot and Hex didn’t know the confusion that had occurred.

Otherwise, Ann Vaughn would have rather jumped out of the window herself.

"I-I’ll go check on Wilder’s injuries!" Making up an excuse in a hurry, Ann Vaughn turned and strode back into the room.

Elliot chuckled lightly, leaning his elbow casually on the window, and spoke again, "Hex, please bring the man to the first floor. I’ll interrogate him."

The voice, gentle and pleasant, melted into the night breeze, yet Hex heard a hint of murderous intent, causing him to shiver involuntarily.

In the room.

Ann Vaughn did not see the unconscious man in black, presumably already taken downstairs.

She walked to the bed in a few strides, removed the short knife from Wilder Sheridan, and then proceeded to treat his arm wound.

Luckily, her voice had almost broken earlier, the assailant probably got frightened, so the first stab missed Wilder’s heart and only hit his arm, not too serious.

Ann Vaughn disinfected his wound, applied some of the trauma powder she refined a few days ago, and then bandaged his arm properly.

In two days at most, his arm wound would heal.

But the internal injuries he suffered were too severe, and even pouring the restorative potion into him like water brought little to no effect.

Looking at Wilder Sheridan’s protruding wrist bone, Ann Vaughn frowned slightly, "The recovery seems excessively slow."

Breeze had mentioned that those liquids were semi-failed products, though highly damaging to the body, they had certain effects.

However, those effects were nowhere near the extent of rejuvenation, and would result in death due to the unbearable pain for those soaked in the liquid.

The other four had been soaked for a short time, with changes only to their skin, not penetrating internally.

Yet Wilder Sheridan, because of prolonged immersion, had skeletal distortions and deformation in his limbs.

Perhaps... she shouldn’t continue giving him the restorative potion.

Thinking of this, Ann Vaughn covered Wilder Sheridan with a blanket and got up to leave.

...

The night deepened, and Villa 16 returned to tranquility.

After such a fright, Ann Vaughn couldn’t sleep peacefully, her small hand fumbled for her phone.

Her gaze lingered on Cyrus Hawthorne’s phone number for a long time, yet she didn’t dial it.

She’s not a child; how could she expect someone to coax her to sleep when she’s restless?

The thought made her feel pretentious, so Ann Vaughn put her phone back and eventually couldn’t resist getting up to check on Wilder Sheridan’s situation.

Who would have thought she’d see Elliot sitting on the sofa in the room, reading a document, seemingly not planning to sleep.

Hearing the door open, Elliot looked over warily, only to find Ann Vaughn peeking her head in, as if observing secretly.

He couldn’t help but laugh, "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"

Ann Vaughn tiptoed over and sat down, "I was a bit worried, so I came to take a look."

Elliot touched her forehead, sighed softly, "Did it scare you? Don’t worry, Hex and the others are outside, and I’m with you here, you don’t need to worry too much."

"Mm!" Ann Vaughn responded, hesitated, and then asked, "Brother, do you know who ordered them?"

"It’s the Lockwood Family." Elliot didn’t hide it from her, "What confuses me is that the Lockwood Family always acts flawlessly, leaving no trace, yet tonight everything seemed excessively rash."

Hearing Elliot’s hidden implication, Ann Vaughn raised her eyes to look at Wilder Sheridan on the bed, her brows furrowed even tighter.

"You suspect that Wilder Sheridan saw something he shouldn’t have, which is why the Lockwood Family was so anxious to silence him?"

"Just a guess, but it’s not impossible." Elliot nodded, "If the first plan fails, they will undoubtedly come up with a second plan. There’s only one way to solve this trouble."

Eliminate the Lockwood Family.
