Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 839: Ruined and Disgraced
In order to better avenge Ann Vaughn, Miyi Yates learned on the day she was released that Yates Enterprise was on the verge of bankruptcy.
Bank loan applications were rejected, former partners stood by idly, competitor companies added insult to injury...
All these piled up, making Miyi Yates’s vision go dark; she couldn’t even hold her phone steady.
"The chairman is still in custody, and the bank loans are being blocked. If we can’t raise funds to keep the company afloat, it’ll be forced to declare bankruptcy within a day—" came the voice of Howard Yates’s secretary through the phone.
Miyi Yates wished she could smash her phone!
Though the Yates Family was not as grand as the Hawthorne Family, it was still formidable and would not collapse just like that!
"Contact the lawyer immediately and get my dad out on bail first. I’ll handle the funding issue."
"Miss, what do you plan to do?"
Miyi Yates hung up directly, turned the car around, and drove in the opposite direction.
Half an hour later, at The Blackwood Group building.
"I need to see your President, please help me get in touch with him."
Upon hearing this commanding tone, the receptionist maintained her smile, "I’m sorry, do you have an appointment?"
Miyi Yates softened her tone, "No, just tell him I’m Miyi Yates, he’ll understand."
Seeing that she was dressed in all current season’s limited edition designer clothes and had an extraordinary demeanor, the receptionist, to be cautious, asked her to wait a moment.
After a brief half-minute call, the receptionist smiled at Miyi Yates and said, "I’m sorry, miss, our President said that neither Miyi Yates nor dogs are allowed inside."
Upon hearing this, low laughter rippled through the surrounding area.
Miyi Yates’s face turned from green to red, then from red to white, feeling both embarrassed and angry, wishing to walk out right away.
How dare Dylan Mercer compare her to a dog!
As far as she knew, the Yates Family hadn’t offended him!
In the past, Miyi Yates could have just turned and walked away without enduring such humiliation, but now...
"Could you please tell him I have something very important to discuss with him, related to the Sector C construction project?" Miyi Yates took a deep breath, lowering her stance to make a plea.
If she didn’t have some leverage, she wouldn’t dare seek help from Dylan Mercer alone.
Moreover, she was sure he would be interested in this construction project.
The receptionist sneered internally, now she knows to be polite, wasn’t she just acting all high and mighty?
No matter what Miyi Yates said, the receptionist had one answer, politely but with a hint of impatience.
As the eldest daughter of the Yates Family, Miyi Yates had been pampered for years, always looking down from above.
A receptionist like this wasn’t even worthy to tie her shoes before, let alone being treated coldly by such a person.
The stark contrast left Miyi Yates ice-cold throughout as she walked out of The Blackwood Group building.
The humiliation, resentment, and hatred churned violently in her heart, slowly cracking like spider webs...
...
As night fell further, inside the Aurelia Club.
The door to one of the rooms on the ninth floor was pushed open, and a staggering figure ran out from inside.
Only when she couldn’t run any further did she stop by the wall, bending over to try to ease the nausea in her stomach.
"Vera!"
A furious voice came from behind, followed by Bella Hawthorne’s arm being grabbed forcefully.
"How many times have I told you to be obedient? You won’t lack good resources in the future, is this how you repay my painstaking efforts?!"
The anger in agent Holly Hanson was barely contained as she dragged Bella Hawthorne back toward the room.
Bella Hawthorne stumbled with her steps, her eyes turned cold as she forcefully pulled her arm away.
"Sister Hanson, I trusted you, thinking it was just a simple dinner, not to accompany those lecherous old men inside!"
"What’s wrong with accompanying them?" Holly Hanson scoffed, "Even if they want you to sleep with them, you have to agree obediently! Trust me, this industry is that cruel. Without shortcuts, you’ll never see the day you get a break!"
"I’d rather remain unknown in the dust all my life, than be stuck in the mire unable to escape!"
"You!"
Holly Hanson was furious, her grip on Bella Hawthorne’s hand growing even stronger, "These people today are ones I managed to secure with great difficulty; upsetting any one of them could bring you endless trouble! You’re my artist, you must listen to me today!"
Bella Hawthorne could not agree with her, but she had drunk two glasses of wine, feeling dizzy and unable to match Holly Hanson’s strength.
"Isn’t that Vera? What are you doing here?"
As Bella Hawthorne and Holly Hanson were locked in a struggle, Miyi Yates saw Bella’s figure from the elevator and approached.
Holly Hanson, having been in the entertainment circle for so long, instantly recognized the high-value fashion on Miyi Yates and sensed she had a notable background, hesitating for a moment.
Catching Holly Hanson’s momentary loosened grip, Bella Hawthorne withdrew her hand.
Seeing this, Miyi Yates smiled, "You’re still in the entertainment circle? Take my advice, you might want to quit early, lest that matter gets exposed, and you can never hold your head up."
Bella Hawthorne’s pale face turned even whiter as she frowned at Miyi Yates.
Holly Hanson, sharp as ever, detected some untold secret in this exchange.
If she could grasp Vera’s weakness, wouldn’t she have control over her in the future?
"Miss, I’m Vera’s agent. What is the matter you refer to?"
"That’s my private affair!" Bella Hawthorne cut off Holly Hanson in disgust, glaring coldly at Miyi Yates, "What do you want this time?"
Miyi Yates smiled charmingly, leaned in closer to Bella Hawthorne’s shoulder, and said just loud enough, "Isn’t it too late to start worrying now? Didn’t you refuse me quite arrogantly before?"
Refused her before?
Bella Hawthorne stepped back, thinking Miyi Yates must have lost her mind.
She hadn’t even seen her recently, had she?
"But if you agree to my proposal from that day, maybe I can consider not letting you fall from grace so quickly."
Miyi Yates didn’t bother to lower her voice, so Holly Hanson also caught her words.
Everyone knew that anything associated with public disgrace was significant.
Holly Hanson felt a surge of joy inside, though kept her face serious, about to question Bella Hawthorne when a lazy voice interrupted.
"Miyi Yates, who do you think you are, daring to threaten my people?"
About to say the same words, Bella Hawthorne silently noted to herself: "Stealing my line, noted."
Miyi Yates immediately dropped her previous arrogance, turning to the figure leaning against the wall, greeting demurely, "Good evening, Lord Monroe."
She had bet correctly by coming today.
Dylan Mercer licked his cheek with his tongue, straightening up lazily. Standing about six-foot-three, he looked down with a brazen, unfettered air.
