Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1069: Bullying You
Upon hearing this, Warren Vance chuckled softly, hidden emotions of delight making his ominous face, accentuated by its sharp fangs, gradually soften.
"I’m not interested in your money," he drawled slowly. "I just want you, to stay by my side forever."
Ann Vaughn was taken aback by his words, unsure whether he was joking or serious; she furrowed her delicate brows, choosing to remain silent.
Yet Warren Vance didn’t give her a chance to escape, his tone half coaxing, "If Cyrus Hawthorne can find you within half an hour, consider it your win, you’re not at a disadvantage."
This is what he calls no disadvantage?
Ann Vaughn almost laughed in anger, "You abruptly brought me here without any sign whatsoever, he doesn’t even know I’m in Gothasen, how could he possibly find me here within half an hour?"
"But perhaps you’ve forgotten, it’s been over eight hours since you arrived here. If he truly cared about you, how would it take him so long to find your whereabouts? I’m giving him an extra half-hour, that’s a favor."
"Stop trying to cause discord!" Ann Vaughn saw through his intentions with one swift remark, and said crossly, "If you have the guts, extend the time limit to a day, half an hour, who are you bullying?"
"I’m bullying you." Warren Vance showed no shame, his blood-red eyes glimmering like glass, as if they were about to ride the wave, "Why, do you have so little faith in him?"
For some reason, Ann Vaughn felt as if she had heard similar words from Warren Vance before somewhere.
The feeling of frustration in her heart was all too familiar.
Her slender fingers clenched, she wished she could punch his infuriating face.
He seemed to be asking for her opinion, but in reality, she had no choice.
The functional necklace Kenny had given her was taken off before her bath, she had no wallet or documents on her, her pockets were cleaner than her face.
Leaving Warren Vance’s side was easy, but returning to S Country from Gothasen... unless she crossed the borders illegally, it was impossible.
The wager Warren Vance proposed, though harsh, was her only chance to leave here.
Should she agree or not?
Ann Vaughn’s eyes shifted, feigning difficulty as she said to Warren Vance, "I need to think it over, give me some time."
"Ten minutes." Warren Vance immediately saw through her intentions, and would definitely not allow her to get her way.
He could indulge her in all other matters, but the desire to escape from his side, he would not permit.
...
The Imperial Capital.
After a night passed, the hidden forces of the Hawthorne Family across the country simultaneously mobilized, conducting a carpet search for Ann Vaughn’s whereabouts, yet she seemed to have vanished into thin air without leaving a trace.
The atmosphere of Villa No. 8 fell into a nearly frozen silence due to the lack of good news, the servants didn’t even dare walk loudly for fear of waking the great deity upstairs and incurring slaughter.
Not only them, even Mark Joyce dared not go to the third floor without reason, only shrinking downstairs to wait for any news to report up.
"Bang—"
The villa door was suddenly forcefully opened, causing everyone to look with surprise.
And they saw an unexpected face.
——Breeze.
"Didn’t President Hawthorne let you go? Why did you come back?" Mark Joyce glanced nervously upstairs and pulled the dusty Breeze outside, asking in a hushed tone.
Now Breeze’s face showed no trace of the satisfaction of leaving this nightmare abyss, looking as if he had just escaped a disaster, utterly miserable.
Had it not been for the distinctive suitcase in Breeze’s hand, Mark Joyce almost couldn’t recognize him.
"Don’t mention it," Breeze’s face turned bitter, "Warren Vance has already discovered my brother’s and my whereabouts, had I not prepared a way out beforehand, I’d be in his hands by now."
One must understand that his crimes compared to Ryan Wyatt’s were only heavier.
Warren Vance would definitely not let him off.
Currently, the only person who could shelter him and his brother was Cyrus Hawthorne.
"No way?" Mark Joyce frowned, "Gothasen’s coup, Warren Vance escaped heavily wounded from The Royal City, he still can’t even protect himself, how could he have the attention to pursue you?"
"I too wonder why he won’t give up, I’ve hidden myself in the polar regions and he still won’t spare me!"
"Something’s wrong with this situation, come see President Hawthorne with me."
Breeze was originally back seeking help, so naturally he was more than willing.
But upon arriving at the study, he found the atmosphere inside wasn’t right, even though the air conditioner wasn’t on, the chill continued creeping into their necks, cold enough to make their hearts quiver.
"...Mr. Hawthorne, that’s all I have to say, I hope this helps you find Miss Vaughn." Breeze was sweating on his forehead, barely daring to meet the man’s cold and fierce gaze.
"Where is the place Warren Vance is most likely hiding?" Cyrus Hawthorne asked bluntly.
Breeze quickly listed several properties under Warren Vance’s name, as well as some unknown private assets.
Kenny, sitting beside Cyrus Hawthorne, leaned over, "Checked, Warren Vance isn’t at these places, is there anywhere else it could be?"
"This..." Breeze’s brain spun rapidly, but he wasn’t a worm in Warren Vance’s belly, how could he know everything?
After a moment of contemplation, Cyrus Hawthorne suddenly said to Kenny, "Check the properties under Queen Manfrieda and Princess Kira’s names."
Kenny’s eyes lit up, his chubby little hands quickly tapped a few keys on the computer, and soon found out.
"Got it, Remembrance Garden in Gothasen Central City, traces of activity detected there... at least two people!"
Although there’s no logic to it, even slightly absurd.
Yet Kenny had a gut feeling, one of them was indeed his mommy.
"Daddy, shall we quickly go find mommy?"
"There’s no need." Cyrus Hawthorne spoke solemnly, his pitch-black eyes emanating a chilling air, sharp and imposing, "How Warren Vance took your mommy, let him bring her back the same way."
"A single strand of hair out of place, I’ll have his life."
At the same time.
Gothasen Central City.
Ten troops silently surrounded the entire Remembrance Garden, inside and out were the Second Prince’s men, not even a bird could fly in.
"Second Prince, why don’t we take this chance, capture Warren Vance and then seize that woman, thereby blackmailing the Executioner?" The subordinate beside the Second Prince leaned over, his face full of flattery, "Since the Executioner values that woman so much, he shouldn’t hesitate to give us more benefits..."
Pa!
Before the subordinate could finish, he received a sharp slap from the Second Prince.
After the slap, the Second Prince’s throat tightened, and he glanced around, seeing that no one had heard the subordinate’s words earlier, he finally sighed in relief.
"Mind your tongue; if those words reach the Executioner’s ears, neither I nor even if the Old King resurrects, can save you." The Second Prince warned coldly.
The subordinate was full of fright and quickly lowered his head to comply.
"Did you complete the task I assigned to you?"
"Of course, the explosives have been fully planted and once the woman is taken out, we can detonate them at any time and bury Warren Vance here."
