Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 382 - 381: Just as Trashy as Ever
"Half!"
Claire Sullivan repeated Ruth Hale’s words with a touch of sarcasm; how could she not see that what Ruth really wanted was everything.
Such greedy people!
"A third would be fine too." Ruth thought Claire found it too much and changed her words.
"Claire, money is just material." Ruth was afraid Claire would be too attached to the money, so she continued to persuade, "Having a good husband and a good daughter is what’s most important."
"You have no idea, so many wealthy women envy you for finding such a great man."
How could Claire Sullivan not know? When she chose Joel Quinn, who knew how those wealthy ladies mocked her behind her back!
They all said she was blind, choosing a driver who, even if obedient and compliant, was only after her money.
Even if she had a daughter with her, surely better men than a penniless driver would be good-looking.
At the time, she didn’t think there was any issue with choosing Joel Quinn!
She just wanted to find a man different from someone with the surname Xu.
What if he’s ordinary? What if he’s not good-looking? What if his background and job aren’t as good as hers? She thought Joel Quinn would be utterly devoted to her.
A man like that could give her happiness.
However, she was proven wrong.
A man like that not only coveted her money and company but even had vile thoughts about Serena.
As she thought about it, she curled her lips into a self-deprecating smile.
Her taste in men over the years had been consistently poor!
"Claire." Ruth saw Claire Sullivan smiling and thought she was agreeing with her.
Alright, time to go shopping.
"Let’s go."
Ruth stood up first, "I just saw a string of jewelry that looked beautiful and would definitely suit you."
Every time she wanted something, she’d say a bunch of things catering to Claire Sullivan, and after buying it, she’d pick faults in it, annoying Claire or making her dislike it, and then Claire would give the newly bought item to Ruth.
The opportunistic Ruth would still be angry, feeling belittled by Claire!
Thinking about getting that beautiful jewelry and purse made Ruth excitedly walk forward, only to return after a few steps when she realized Claire was still sitting there.
"Claire, are you going or not?"
"Where to?" Claire Sullivan asked.
"Of course, to the mall." Ruth blurted out, and then, seeing Claire’s expression, changed her words, "I’m thinking about you. You’ve upset Joel and Zoe, so you should buy them gifts."
"Let’s go."
She’s really being infuriated by that bitch Claire Sullivan, still pretending to be a rich lady here.
Once the money’s in hand, Joel wouldn’t stay with her.
"You go ahead." Claire Sullivan said calmly, "I’m waiting for someone."
Serena said she’d come over once Claire and Ruth were done talking, but they’ve been talking for so long, and Claire had no interest in listening to Ruth any longer. Why wasn’t Serena here yet!
"Who are you waiting for?" Ruth was furious, hearing Claire say she was waiting for someone after her long speech.
Her jewelry! Her purse!
"Claire Sullivan, you’re really driving me crazy." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"I’ve said so many good things about you in front of Joel and Zoe, just asking you to go out and buy them some gifts, and you’re not willing?"
"Or do you think I have my eye on something and want you to pay?"
When she finished, Claire Sullivan looked up and replied coldly, "Isn’t that right?"
She pierced through Ruth directly, unlike before when she went along with Ruth, pretending not to know even when it was clear Ruth took her for a fool.
