Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 282 - 281: Strange Relationships
Anna Morgan has always been afraid of the Lockwood Family’s second uncle. Whenever she sees his cold face, she runs faster than a rabbit.
"Serena, I’ll head over first!"
Ethan Grant, unusually, smiled and said to Serena Sullivan before walking away.
Carter Lockwood didn’t move, coldly glaring at Finn Chandler. Finn wasn’t scared and returned a bright smile. Anna, on the other hand, was terrified and nervously clutched Finn’s clothes. Carter Lockwood could only walk away dejectedly. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"That was terrifying."
Once Carter Lockwood left, Anna Morgan immediately relaxed, letting go of Finn and patting her chest.
Everyone with eyes could see Carter Lockwood’s feelings towards Anna Morgan, except for the person involved—Anna Morgan.
"Are you that afraid of him?" Finn joked, "He’s quite good-looking."
Anna Morgan earnestly recalled Carter Lockwood’s appearance.
"Yes, he is very handsome!"
"More handsome than Sean Lockwood and more dependable!"
Serena Sullivan added, as the three of them chatted, noticing the distant Sean Lockwood fawning over Zoe Quinn.
"Yeah." Anna also saw them and her mood dropped as she replied.
"But..." She changed the subject, glanced around at the people, confirmed Carter Lockwood had walked far away, and softly said to Serena and Finn, "King Yama, aren’t you scared?"
Anyway, she felt like a mouse seeing a cat every time she saw him. She decided to avoid him next time, keeping her heart from racing, and her hands from shaking.
Anna’s fear of Carter Lockwood made Serena Sullivan and Finn Chandler exchange amused glances and laugh.
It seemed, for Carter Lockwood to win over this oblivious Anna Morgan, he had a long way to go.
"Finn, you can go attend to your business. Anna and Yaya are here, so it’s all good."
Serena, noticing Finn’s distraction and wandering gaze, said.
"Alright!"
Finn agreed, as the party was about to begin, and people from the Imperial Capital were expected to arrive.
Once these people appeared, they’d surely be surrounded, making it hard to meet anyone.
But no matter how difficult the task, she would accomplish it. Just like how, for all these years, she lived as a man, enduring exhaustion and helplessness, all for the sake of her dear kin.
Her fate seemed destined for a lonely old age.
Luckily, she hadn’t met a man she wanted to spend her life with!
Anna pushed Serena aside to chat, not noticing someone had set their sights on Finn.
The party started, with scattered guests gathering in the center, while some remained in their original spots.
Applause rang out as Mr. Grant, supported by The Matron Grant, took to the stage.
On stage, Mr. Grant was full of vigor, looking down at the guests with great delight.
He was once the ruler of The Grant Family, a top figure in Solaria, fierce and formidable.
Now, he stepped down, forced into retirement at The Grant Residence by his own son, harboring resentment but helpless to change it!
He spoke a few courteous words, mainly thanking everyone for attending his birthday banquet.
Sixty-five wasn’t a particularly grand age, yet Mr. Grant held such a grand event this year, leaving many guessing the Grant Family’s intentions.
This year, with Serena’s return, Solaria has transformed.
After finishing his speech, Mr. Grant stepped down, and many assumed Ethan Grant might go on stage, but he and Carter Lockwood were casually chatting, showing no intention of going up to congratulate.
He was Mr. Grant’s only son!
The relationship dynamics within The Grant Family were certainly peculiar!
After about ten minutes, Serena sent a text to Robin Rowan.
