Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Just... Simply Sleeping Together

Maeve looked at these few words, paused for a few seconds, and took back the pajamas she had brought into the bathroom.

...

It was close to ten o’clock when she returned to Crestfall Bay.

She got out of the car, holding a warm belly cushion, her face slightly pale.

Mrs. Thompson received the news and was waiting at the villa door. Seeing Maeve’s expression, she knew she might be feeling unwell.

In this big villa, there are only two owners.

Julian is often away, and since Maeve spends most of her time not acting, she often stays here. Therefore, Mrs. Thompson remembers Maeve’s situation very clearly and has early prepared things like red dates and goji berries to help with blood nourishment.

"Ma’am, come in quickly." Mrs. Thompson looked concerned and went up to support Maeve. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

She frowned slightly; in the past, she never felt pain even if she fought and bled, but now after growing a bit older, these few days every month are simply torture, waves of pain.

Mrs. Thompson quickly adjusted the warm belly cushion tightly against Maeve. "I don’t know the principle behind this, but if it makes you feel comfortable, I’ll keep holding it for you."

Maeve smiled faintly, her voice somewhat weak, "It’s okay, I’ll do it myself."

Mrs. Thompson responded, "Ah, you young people don’t pay attention to your health. This pain can be really unbearable. Ma’am, sit down inside. I’ll make you a cup of brown sugar water."

Maeve nodded.

After downing two cups of steaming brown sugar water, Maeve finally felt like she came back to life.

Her body relaxed a lot.

Mrs. Thompson was busy wiping her sweat and massaging her.

Maeve held her hand, "It’s okay, Mrs. Thompson. I’ll go rest soon, you should go sleep too."

Mrs. Thompson hesitated but finally said, "Ma’am, the Young Master has been feeling a bit down lately. You mustn’t be angry with him. You’re a couple, here to spend a lifetime together. This cold war won’t do."

She knew Mrs. Thompson was kind and simple-hearted, saying these things for her own good. Maeve gave a slight smile, "I understand."

"An hour has passed, how much longer are you going to chat?"

A cold male voice descended from above the two, and the warm atmosphere instantly vanished without a trace, making Maeve feel the temperature around her drop a little.

Mrs. Thompson was startled, like a child caught doing something wrong.

Maeve soothingly patted Mrs. Thompson’s hand, "It’s okay, Mrs. Thompson. You go to bed first."

Mrs. Thompson gave a grateful smile to Maeve, tidied up the things on the table, and returned to her room.

After Mrs. Thompson left, Maeve stood up from the sofa.

She lifted her eyelids, her voice carrying more of an instinctive distance compared to the warmth she showed towards Mrs. Thompson earlier, "Here."

Julian’s grip on the railing tightened.

Maeve was already walking up the upstairs corridor, Julian still stood in one place without moving, though he changed his posture, now facing her directly.

His face was slightly tense, "Go take a shower, tonight sleep in the master bedroom."

Maeve: "?"

Coming out from the master bedroom’s bathroom, Maeve wrapped herself tightly.

Julian had not yet gone to bed. Seeing her come out, he picked up the white robe on the black bed sheet, brushed past her, and went into the bathroom.

A long period of time passed.

The man pushed open the bathroom door, a room filled with steamy vapor.

Julian dried his hair, his deep gaze firmly locked on her, his voice low, "Not sleeping?"

Maeve sat on the bed, raised an eyebrow, "Oh, sleeping."

She thought Julian wanted her back for something.

Just... purely to sleep?
