Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 358 - 229: Overseas Call
Several people around watched Mrs. Fairchild’s face turn from red to blue, then white!
Sylvia Lane felt an ominous premonition swelling in her heart.
A few seconds later, Mrs. Fairchild hung up the phone.
Sylvia Lane quickly leaned forward, "Mrs. Fairchild, what did Fairchild say, did he agree!"
Mrs. Fairchild sighed, speaking to Sylvia Lane in a tone of sympathy, "He said you’re Maeve Lane’s servant. If you want to leave, it needs to make Maeve happy."
Sylvia Lane felt as if someone had poured a bucket of cold water over her, chilling her from head to toe, and she said in a daze, "Make... Maeve happy..."
How was this possible!
If it were her, she would wish for Maeve to serve as her servant for a lifetime, always under her foot!
There’s no way Maeve would let her go.
Sylvia Lane burst into tears at the doorstep, now looking nothing like the glamorous star she used to be on television, but rather like a beggar, with her face not only lacking its delicate makeup but also greasy and her skin no longer fair.
Mrs. Fairchild said helplessly, "She is, after all, your sister; you can try pleading with her..."
Even as she said it, she knew it sounded unbelievable; Maeve and Sylvia Lane were far from siblings, and calling them enemies would be more accurate!
Sylvia Lane cried bitterly for a while, and finally remembered Anson Lane, her father!
At this point, she could only place her hopes on him; Rosalyn Jennings’s illness hadn’t improved, and Sylvia Lane was filled with regret—they shouldn’t have said things that upset Rosalyn Jennings; she is her mother and wouldn’t stand to see her bullied by Maeve!
Sylvia Lane quietly borrowed a phone from Mrs. Fairchild and dialed Anson Lane’s number!
Near completion.
Maeve Lane had been so busy she barely touched the ground, able to sleep through the night the moment she hit the bed.
After wrapping up for the day, Maeve Lane received a call from an unknown number.
She pressed answer.
Anson Lane’s long-missed voice came through the phone:
"You’ve really turned against the heavens! Grabbing your own sister to serve as your maid, you’ve really got nerve!" Anson Lane roared loudly!
Maeve Lane held the phone a bit further away, "I’ve said many times, she is not my sister."
"You little brat, are you only satisfied if you’ve thoroughly disgraced the Lane Family?! If word gets out, where will I hide my old face?!"
Anson Lane was so furious his heartbeat quickened, and the veins on his neck bulged!
Though the Lane Family had kept a low profile lately, they were still a notable family in Aurelia!
But today, to his surprise, Sylvia Lane called saying she’s been captured by Maeve to be a servant!
"You’re simply inconceivable! Sinister to the core! How did I raise such a daughter! I should have let you die out there back then!"
"Mr. Lane is old and his mind’s gone bad, is it? I’ve cut ties with you, and you shouldn’t be trying to claim someone as your daughter, because you aren’t worthy." Maeve Lane spoke lightly, but every word was cutting.
Anson Lane choked on his breath, nearly smashing the phone, his voice trembling with anger, "Fine, fine, just see who helps you when you run into trouble! Not recognizing even your father, you ungrateful wretch!"
"Running into trouble? Like three years ago?" Maeve Lane scoffed sarcastically, "Then I must thank you; please never ’help’ again in this lifetime."
The person on the other end seemed guilty, taking several deep breaths before weakly saying, "I know you’ve always blamed us for abandoning your mother back then, but I’d already divorced her; was I supposed to take her with me?"
"Zoe, it’s really not pleasant to say, Sylvia is your sister; as her elder sister, can’t you be a bit more accommodating to her? She’s young and immature; you should tolerate her more..."
"You called just for this?" Maeve Lane interrupted unmercifully, "Then I’m hanging up."
"Wait!!" Seeing Maeve Lane impervious to persuasion, Anson Lane finally showed his true colors, gritting his teeth, "Don’t forget the filthy things you did back then; aren’t you a celebrity? Do you believe I can expose you now, let your fans see the cold-blooded creature they adore!"
Anson Lane used venomous words, as if Maeve Lane were his mortal enemy.
But Maeve Lane knew Anson Lane far too well.
So much that as soon as he spoke, Maeve Lane knew what he really thought.
Despite risking angering Julian Fairchild, he’d still make this call; does he truly favor Sylvia Lane so much? 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
If he truly favored Sylvia Lane, he wouldn’t have waited several months after her disappearance to only now raise outrage!
