Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 351 - 226: Mm, Heartache
But she didn’t expect that she would come to him first.
Maeve Lane glanced coldly behind her, and Mila Miller had never seen such obvious hostility on Maeve’s face.
She didn’t even bother to pretend.
Mila smiled and greeted Maeve, "Maeve, you also came to listen to Fairchild’s lecture?"
"If you saw me here, why ask?" Maeve was blunt, her expression turning a bit ugly.
Mila’s face stiffened for a moment but quickly returned to normal, smiling at Maeve as if she hadn’t heard anything.
Zane Payne turned his head slightly, catching the girl’s profile, her high nose and lips pressed into a line.
She seemed... angry.
Zane looked at Julian Fairchild, finding that Julian was also looking at Maeve, his deep eyes holding emotions others couldn’t decipher.
There was definitely love in them.
And Maeve, provoking Mila like this, was probably out of jealousy too.
Julian Fairchild warned him because of Maeve. She, in turn, showed a cold face to Mila regardless of others watching because of him.
They were, at a glance, a pair.
Zane chuckled at himself, stood up abruptly, "I’m leaving, I’ve understood Professor Fairchild’s lecture."
Julian didn’t spare him a glance, Maeve crossed her arms and stared at him, "Is the lecture over?"
He could tell Maeve was in a bad mood, but he didn’t know why.
Besides, shouldn’t he be the one who’s angry?
But his own girlfriend has spoken, Julian wouldn’t let her feel awkward; he gazed into Maeve’s eyes and said, "It’s over."
Then he lifted his head and said to everyone, "That’s it, dismissed."
The crowd, seeing this, though puzzled, didn’t pry, preferring to avoid trouble, and soon cleared the room, except for a few who stayed around Julian for an autograph.
Julian glanced at the sulking Maeve and said, "Let’s do it another day."
The few exchanged glances and had to nod in agreement.
At this point, Mila’s eyes flashed with a gleam, she stood up and said, "Fairchild, I still have some questions, could I..."
"No, you can’t." Maeve stood up, kicking the stool aside, which screeched harshly on the floor.
But Mila, instead of heeding Maeve’s words, quickly squeezed out tears, "Fairchild, does Maeve have some misunderstanding about me? Why is she so harsh on me?"
Maeve frowned, her eyes half-squinted in anger.
Her gaze shifted from Mila to Julian, wanting to see what Julian would say.
But Julian just walked over to Maeve’s side, kicking aside the obtrusive stool.
Mila was stunned.
No man had ever ignored her like this when she wept, and she knew she was at her most beautiful when crying. After Julian arrived, she even calculated the perfect angle for her beauty to be maximized!
Yet even that couldn’t make Julian give her a glance!
Miles Hughes, seeing this, cautiously scanned the surroundings, subtly signaled to the bodyguard outside, and upon receiving confirmation, quietly stood guard at the front door.
Over at the back door, Sarah Sutton was peeking in to observe, so there was no fear of anyone barging in.
Julian walked to stand before Maeve, who looked everywhere except at him.
The man seemed amused, smiling, "Jealous?"
Mila bit her lip hard, turning pale, fiercely clenching her hands!
Looks like she underestimated Maeve!
All these years, Maeve still knew how to win men’s hearts!
Maeve avoided his hand that sought to pinch her cheek, "You know full well if you came to the audition, I’d come find you first thing, so why did you come here to ’give lectures’?"
"Are you happy to have so many women calling you brother?"
"Not happy." It was the first time Julian saw Maeve so jealous, his lips curled up, "I only want to hear you call me brother."
Maeve stepped back, raising her brows, "Who wants to call you brother, in your dreams."
Mila couldn’t take it anymore, passing Miles in a rush, fleeing the room.
Throughout this, Julian didn’t spare her a single look.
The room only had Maeve and Julian left, Maeve snorted, about to leave, only to be pulled back by the wrist, crashing straight into Julian’s arms.
The man grunted, sucking in a breath, and after steadying herself Maeve touched his chest, "Did it hurt, the crash?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Julian held her hand to his heart, "Yes, it ached."
"Why don’t you just ache to death?" Maeve coolly replied, poking his hard muscle with her index finger.
