Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 228 - 187: Take the Money and Get Out!
Butler Forrest stepped forward to intervene. For some reason, he found Maeve Lane to be quite likable. "Mrs. Fairchild, please calm down. Miss Lane is still young and somewhat reckless. Please don’t argue with her and upset yourself."
Mrs. Fairchild glanced at him, barely suppressing her anger. "Do you know why I called you here?"
Maeve Lane stood up, half a head taller than Mrs. Fairchild.
And she was wearing flat shoes.
Mrs. Fairchild had to look up to speak to Maeve’s eyes, but this diminished her authority completely.
She held back her temper and scolded, "Sit down!"
Maeve raised an eyebrow, gave Mrs. Fairchild a once-over, and sat down without further ado.
Standing was quite tiring too.
She sat casually, chin slightly lifted, leisurely waiting for Mrs. Fairchild to speak.
Perhaps it was Maeve’s somewhat rebellious behavior and her composed demeanor in the face of Mrs. Fairchild’s challenges. Mrs. Fairchild, never having dealt with such a person, actually felt at a disadvantage for a moment!
And Maeve, sitting there with her arms crossed, gave Mrs. Fairchild the illusion that she was the junior here!
Her voice broke with tension as she looked at Maeve with disdain. "I’ll be frank, Maeve, you and Julian are impossible! Don’t cause trouble for Sylvia. She’s more gentle, sensible, and attentive than you. Only a girl like her is barely worthy of someone like Julian!"
"What trouble did I cause her?"
"You slandered her and even incited your fans to cyberbully your own sister!" Mrs. Fairchild said, "She was so stressed by you that she ended up hospitalized. Yet you keep pushing, forcing her to leave the entertainment industry. Don’t you have any feelings?"
Maeve’s tone remained unaffected, still as cold as before. "Isn’t it because she ran out of options and came to you, pretending to be pitiful?"
She was more than familiar with this trick.
"Do you think everyone is as malicious as you?" Mrs. Fairchild wasn’t usually a harsh speaker, but she simply found Maeve unbearable. This feeling was deeply rooted and almost like a conditioned reflex.
She had countless times been grateful that Maeve had courted her own downfall, extinguishing Old Master Fairchild’s idea of wanting her as a granddaughter-in-law!
"The malicious one is someone else. It’s just that your heart is biased from the start, so you can’t see through such a clumsy lie." Maeve lazily yawned, her fox-like eyes alluring yet refined. When she didn’t smile, they seemed to be covered with a layer of frost, cold and aloof.
Mrs. Fairchild extended her hand, and Butler Forrest quickly stepped forward to support her.
She calmed her emotions, looking at the unyielding Maeve, and said, "I know what you want. You just can’t stand Sylvia having taken everything that originally belonged to you. Is she even more talented in being a star than you?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"You’re just jealous of her."
Mrs. Fairchild thought she had grasped Maeve’s mind, and seeing her silence, she felt even more convinced that she had hit on her deepest, truest thoughts.
She finally regained a bit of the feeling of disciplining someone.
In reality, Maeve just found it a bit amusing and speechless.
No matter what she said, Mrs. Fairchild would always take Sylvia’s side, so why waste her breath on a pointless argument?
Mrs. Fairchild then clapped her hands, and Butler Forrest quickly brought in several safes.
She arrogantly said to Maeve, "Here’s a million. Leave the entertainment industry now! Take your money and get lost!"
Maeve’s red lips curled up, inexplicably saying, "Indeed, art imitates life."
She had never thought such a cliched plot would happen to her.
Seeing Maeve’s expression, Mrs. Fairchild oddly felt a bit uneasy. There wasn’t a slightest hint of desire to claim the money. It looked like nothing more than a pile of waste paper to her.
"So, what do you want me to do?"
Mrs. Fairchild sneered, "You need to clarify that everything arose from your jealousy of Sylvia, to force her to respond! Then leave the entertainment circle!"
"And most importantly, you must never appear before Julian again from now on!"
Maeve found it hard to imagine how someone as lofty as Julian, proud as winter’s snow, could be this woman’s son.
In terms of looks, temperament, or any other aspect, they bore no resemblance.
Just like herself and Anson Lane.
After hearing Mrs. Fairchild’s words, she stood up without hesitation and casually lifted her eyes, "I’ll spare Sylvia, unless I... am dead."
Mrs. Fairchild was startled by the fleeting fierceness in her eyes.
Maeve’s lips curled, this time her smile was indeed somewhat provocative, "Now, take your money... and get lost."
"I’m your elder! Is this how you speak to me?"
"Does being an elder mean you can get away with telling people to get lost?"
