Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 842 - 838: I’m Here
Mia Foster’s steps faltered as she descended the stairs. She hadn’t expected Felix Shaw to show up here. Earlier, the secretary had informed her that a man claimed to be her husband, and she thought it was a scammer, dismissing him without a second thought. She hadn’t realized it was Felix who had tracked her down here.
"Mia," Felix Shaw slowly walked over. He wore a pure white shirt paired with light-colored casual pants, sitting on the stairs with the wind in his hair, his short hair messily draped across his forehead. His handsome brows were tightly furrowed, lacking the usual nonchalance. His peachy eyes held an inexplicable emotion. In just a short week, he had noticeably lost weight, his eyes were sunken, and the contours of his handsome face had become more defined.
Standing before Mia, Felix curled his lips and said, "I’m here." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
With those three words, Mia could see that his effort to curl his lips revealed restraint over something. She took a breath, turned, and, facing her shocked assistant, smiled and said, "Let’s go, the client is still waiting."
Felix stood in place, one foot on the stair, turned his body, watching Mia and the man get into the sedan parked by the roadside, only realizing afterward and loudly said, "Mia! I was wrong!"
Through the car window, Felix saw Mia staring straight ahead, unbothered. Even after the car drove away, Felix remained in the same position.
Through the rearview mirror, Mia spotted the company’s office building stairs where the man stood like a statue. Although his face showed no emotion, only she knew that her body, her heart, was tense.
The heartfelt "Mia" from Felix just now hit her heart, causing it to ache.
"Manager, are you okay?" The assistant asked, concerned. Mia turned her face and smiled, "I’m fine." As if worried the assistant might notice something amiss, she asked, "Did you bring all the materials?"
"Yes, everything’s here. Please don’t worry," the assistant respectfully replied, though curious about the man at the company entrance, he didn’t dare speak rashly.
...
Watching as the sedan became a dot in his sight, Felix withdrew his gaze, lowered his eyes, and his thick eyelashes masked his emotions. He took steps, slowly descending the stairs, flying all the way from abroad, only to be ignored by Mia, inevitably feeling a sense of loss. He walked towards the hotel, raising his gaze deeply inhaling, he wouldn’t give up.
This unequal relationship, why should it be dictated by her alone!
She asked for a year, and he agreed. She unilaterally proposed divorce, and he had to comply. Why, why couldn’t he have his own say!
Back at the hotel, Felix ordered dinner to be sent to his room and called Nicholas Croft, knowing that his mood wasn’t great now, but concerning his own happiness, he couldn’t consider too much.
"Brother, how’s the investigation going?"
In the country, Nicholas Croft stood by the window, with the lights off, watching the night view outside. Yet, his mind was occupied by that playful face, "There are rumors within the crew that she’s involved with the director. I’ll get more details when I have the chance to meet her agent."
Sensing Nicholas Croft’s disappointment, Felix persuaded over the phone, "Brother, don’t blame yourself too much. Let our second brother stretch his connections. A person can’t just disappear. Maybe Sophie is sulking with you, which is why the prison guard told you that."
"I know," Nicholas deeply exhaled, his gaze outside gradually grew dazed, "If there’s nothing important, I’ll hang up."
