Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 714 - 710, did you see dad today?
After working all afternoon and putting in some overtime, Felix Shaw finally left the company.
When he got home, his mother Melody Zachary was sitting on the sofa waiting for him to have dinner together.
"Felix, why did you just get back? You didn’t even call home when working overtime, the dishes are all cold now."
"Mom, how many times have I said, you and dad don’t have to wait for me." Felix Shaw closed the door, and the family’s maid had already brought the shoe rack in front of him.
"Oh, your dad has social obligations tonight, I don’t have an appetite to eat alone."
Melody Zachary got up from the sofa and walked towards the dining room, "Go wash your hands, the dishes are cold, I’ll ask Mrs. Xu to heat them up."
Felix Shaw paused as he was taking off his shoes, "Dad has social obligations tonight?" In front of him, the maid had set up the shoe rack and took his briefcase from his hands.
"Yes, he said an old friend from out of town came over, and he needs to entertain."
As Melody spoke, she helped Mrs. Xu bring the food back to the kitchen. Felix Shaw changed out of his shoes and came in, taking off his coat with a thoughtful frown.
An out-of-town friend, why hasn’t he heard about it?
In recent years, he was almost always the one to handle the socializing, his father rarely participated...
He is Director Foley of the company, even if there were social obligations, his father should have taken him along. His father was going to entertain an out-of-town client, but why hadn’t he heard about it from the secretary?
Thinking back on Mia Foster’s unusual behavior with his father at noon, Felix Shaw felt even more that Mia Foster seemed to know something.
Sitting at the dining table, looking at his mother’s expression which didn’t seem unusual, Felix Shaw casually asked, "Mom, when did dad call you?"
"Oh, during the afternoon, he said it was an old friend who came by unexpectedly." As Melody said this, she served a bowl of soup for her son.
"You don’t know that old friend?" Felix Shaw probed, since he is referred to as an "old friend," logically mom should also know him.
"How could I know," Melody handed over the soup and said with a smile, "You know, I just like shopping and playing mahjong with the ladies, I don’t understand work matters, and I also dislike accompanying your dad to social events."
Taking the soup his mother had served for him, Felix Shaw smiled and said no more.
After mother and son had dinner together, Melody Zachary sat on the sofa watching a soap opera, and Felix Shaw said he had work to deal with and returned to his room.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt something was amiss. His father was entertaining an old friend and didn’t invite him...
After some thought, he took out his phone and called Mia Foster. On the other end, Mia Foster was working on her computer, and when she saw Felix Shaw’s number coming in, she picked up the phone happily.
"Felix?"
"What are you doing?" Felix Shaw stood in front of the window, one hand holding the phone, the other hand in the pocket of his casual pants, trying to sound relaxed despite feeling agitated.
"Um... There’s a case I haven’t finished with, I’m working." Mia Foster told the truth, "Felix, is there a reason you called?" It probably wasn’t to ask her out given the time.
Felix Shaw sighed softly, "No reason, just wanted to give you a call."
Mia Foster...
Although she had been getting along well with Felix Shaw lately, they rarely called just to chat when there was nothing to discuss.
Licking her lips, Mia Foster said, "Felix, if there’s anything, you can ask me directly, we don’t need to beat around the bush with each other,"
"Alright," Felix Shaw dispensed with the pleasantries and went straight to the point, "Mia, did you see dad today?"
Mia Foster’s breath hitched, her fingers clutching the phone tightened involuntarily, hesitating in her heart, unsure whether to tell him what she had seen.
