Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 676: Felix is still gentle, right?
Mia Foster knew it wouldn’t be easy to get a philandering man to settle down, but she had confidence in herself.
After spending half a month with him, she realized that Felix Shaw was like a grown-up boy who still needed her "parental" guidance in many matters.
After having lunch with Felix at the restaurant across from their company, she went home when he returned to work. She had only been to the office a few times since coming back to the country, but now that the major events of her life had been set, she was ready to focus on her work.
Being an only child with no brothers at home, she would have to take over her father’s business once he retired. Therefore, she had no right to slack off.
Seeing her daughter’s return, Evelyn Bailey rose from the couch, "Mia’s back!"
"Yeah, Mom, didn’t go out to play cards huh."
Mia Foster changed out of her shoes upon entering, casually tossing her car keys onto the shoe cabinet. She actually envied her mother who, thanks to her father’s capabilities, could be a housewife, lounging at home with tea and card games with friends, living a comfortable and carefree life. Unlike her, who had to work hard like a man, and now, she had taken on an additional role—managing Felix’s messy romantic life.
Dealing with a couple of bad romances didn’t require much effort, but it still exhausted Mia emotionally.
"No, I was waiting for you at home."
"Waiting for me?"
Mia Foster sat down next to her mother, while Evelyn also sat down, her eyes examining her daughter’s neck and ears, "Yes, didn’t you get engaged to Felix yesterday?"
"Oh," Mia felt a bit guilty bringing that up. After the engagement party, she had gone to handle the Frances issue. Even though it was a misunderstanding, if her parents found out, it would negatively impact their impression of Felix, so it was better kept a secret.
"I was so exhausted last night; that’s why I got up late."
Mia casually made up an excuse, but her mother Evelyn thought too much into it. Seeing no suspicious marks on her daughter’s neck, she asked with a smile, "Mia, Felix is gentle, right?"
As a mother, she probably shouldn’t have asked, but Evelyn’s concern for her daughter prompted the question.
Mia was taken aback for a moment, but quickly understood her mother’s insinuation and responded with embarrassed frown, "Mom, why would you ask such a thing!"
Mia was genuinely embarrassed, but Evelyn misunderstood again, laughing as she said, "What’s wrong with that? Society is open now, and besides, you and Felix are engaged. Marriage is just a matter of time!"
"Mom, I’m tired, I’m going to rest in my room." Mia lied to escape and headed to her own room, fearing her mother’s inquisitiveness. If she kept talking, her mom might ask even more intimate questions.
That evening, Felix Shaw invited some buddies out to play cards, considering the incident that occurred after the engagement party the night before, which resulted in him standing his friends up, so he thought to get together tonight.
When men gather, they either drink or play cards, often hosting social gatherings, so they weren’t interested in regular dinner parties, but were all keen on a card game.
The four men sat together, playing cards and chatting sporadically.
"Number Three, what exactly happened last night? You didn’t say a word, we could have come to help," Nicholas Croft picked a card, fiddled with it in his hands, and then threw it out.
Felix never hid anything about his private life, also picked up a card to play, "Speaking of it just brings bad luck, that little model I used to date claimed she’s carrying my baby..."
