Chapter 1105: Chapter 1101: Does Mr. Hai Think I’m a Man Who Will Take Anything?

"Forcing you? What, do you want to hit me?" Josephine Hawthorne sneered coldly, and from behind, Henry Hargrave shouted loudly, "Enough! Hannah, take your mother back to her room!"

Nicholas Croft slightly curled his lips, the mocking sentiment on his face was so evident. Engaging with such an unreasonable shrew made him feel demeaned, disdainfully shook off Josephine’s wrist and pulled Beatrice Hargrave standing beside him further back, to prevent the woman in front from hurting her again.

Beatrice Hargrave raised her chin, glaring angrily at Josephine. If Uncle Nick wasn’t there, she would have unceremoniously torn up her face.

"Mom, please stop causing a scene. Let’s go back to the room," Hannah walked over to support her mother, gently persuading her. Josephine suddenly turned her head, "Causing a scene, am I not doing this for your own good? Since when have you become so weak?"

"Mom, please listen to your daughter, stop making trouble!" Hannah said seemingly helplessly, secretly glanced at Nicholas, tightened her grip on her mother’s shoulder, and sneaked a signal.

Josephine understood, raised her chin, huffed, and then gave Beatrice a fierce glare, "You little brat, I’ll let you off for now!"

After the mother and daughter went upstairs, Henry Hargrave finally spoke, "Beatrice, what did you mean by drugging just now?"

Beatrice pushed Nicholas aside, walked to the sofa, and sat down coldly, "Ask Uncle Nick, he was involved, he should know better than I do."

Henry turned his gaze to Nicholas, "Slater, what’s going on!"

Nicholas raised his hand to scratch his forehead, took a deep breath, and paced to sit beside Beatrice, "The night before the film festival, Hannah put something in the wine."

"You didn’t touch her?" Henry asked, standing tall and sternly looking down at Nicholas.

Nicholas slowly raised his eyes, calmly questioning, "Do you think I’m that kind of desperate man?"

Henry was taken aback by Nicholas’s words, just a...

"Why does Hannah insist that something happened between you two? Was she drugged too? Who was the man who helped her?"

Upon hearing Henry’s words, Nicholas sneered slightly, raised his eyes meaningfully, "That’s a question for your own daughter, I wasn’t there at the time."

Although Josephine and her daughter were hateful, he was a man, gossiping was not his thing.

Sighing quietly, Henry didn’t continue the topic, as it was not a glorious thing—his daughter slept with someone, yet didn’t know who the man was.

His eyes tightened suddenly and stared, asking seriously.

"Are you serious about Beatrice?"

Nicholas turned his gaze to Beatrice, who was leaning against the sofa with her arms crossed. He raised his hand to tuck a strand of loose hair behind her ear, his gaze softening considerably.

"Yes, I’m ready to register for marriage with Beatrice."

"What about the wedding? When will it be held?"

Nicholas returned, speaking truthfully to Henry, "Beatrice and I don’t plan to have a wedding ceremony, we’ll register and go straight to the honeymoon."

"Beatrice, is this what you want?" Henry asked his daughter seriously.

Beatrice snorted with her arms crossed, "What else?"

"Why not have a wedding?" Although he didn’t have deep father-daughter feelings for her, since she was acknowledged by the Hargrave Family, no matter whom she married, she should have a grand wedding—it was about the family’s reputation.

"I have the right to decide my own affairs, and besides, I don’t have any relatives. Rather than letting some loathsome shrews cause trouble at the wedding, I’d prefer to quietly register!"

Henry...

His brows moved slightly, ultimately unable to rebut, turned to look out the window, sighed once more, "Take Nicholas to visit your mother’s grave someday!"

"No need to bother you with that. Just return my household registration book, and as for what you promised before, once I’m capable, I will repay you."

In the verbal battle, the two women spoke in coded language, and Nicholas furrowed his brows slightly. Although he was puzzled, he didn’t inquire what promise Beatrice was referring to.

Henry turned back, still holding his hands behind his back, looking at his daughter’s rebellious little face with a somewhat dazed gaze, sighed quietly, "No need, consider it for your dowry."

...

Upstairs, after entering the room, Josephine unhappily questioned her daughter, "Hannah, why did you stop me just now? Those two scumbags deserve a good lesson!"

"Mom, are you childish? What you are doing doesn’t change the facts!" Hannah gave a dismissive reproach, then walked to the sofa and sat down, Josephine followed, sitting beside her, supporting her daughter’s arm, "Are you planning to give up?"

"Hmph!" Hannah propped both hands on the sofa, sneered looking at some place, "Give up? If I, Hannah Hargrave, can’t have it, I’ll make sure they don’t get it easily either!"

"Do you have any clever ideas?" Josephine asked excitedly, expecting that the online gossip would make that little brat hang down her head and be forced to break up with Nicholas. Who would have thought that Nicholas would rather pay to protect that little brat!

"Mom! Why are you acting impulsively now? What’s the point of quarrelling and making a scene?"

"Hmph, I was just infuriated by that little brat!" Josephine turned away begrudgingly, then looked back at her daughter, "Hannah, tell me quickly, do you have any clever ideas to make that little brat live in discomfort?"

Hannah squinted her eyes slightly, the insidious gleam in her eyes was there, her lips curled up unconsciously with even more sinister light.

"Like a leopard waiting for the right moment, only then can you strike with a deadly blow!"

Hearing her daughter say this, Josephine’s face lit up with joy, probing, "Hannah, are you saying?"

Hannah turned back, the insidious gleam in her eyes vanished, then turned again, lowered her gaze and quietly said, "I didn’t say anything." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"But you clearly wanted to just now!"

"Mom! Didn’t you teach me before? A quiet dog bites its man! Have you forgotten?" Josephine was just about to speak but was interrupted by Hannah, turned back to look at her mother, with a clear warning in her eyes.

...

Although she got back her household registration book, there wasn’t a trace of happiness on Beatrice’s face, holding the book and staring ahead, lost in thought.

After driving for a while, Nicholas glanced over and asked, "Beatrice, what was the promise you mentioned to him just now?"

Beatrice snapped out of her thoughts, looked down at the household registration book in her hands, "Nothing."

"Beatrice," Nicholas held the steering wheel with one hand, freeing the other to grasp Beatrice’s hand, patiently saying while driving, "We’re about to become a married couple, shouldn’t there be no secrets between us?"
