Chapter 1067: Chapter 1063: There Will Always Be a Place for Her in Uncle’s Heart

After Titus Zane left, Nicholas Croft returned to the bedside, looking at the bundle under the quilt. His handsome face unconsciously softened, and he gently lifted a corner of the blanket. His voice, too, was gentle, "Bea, come out. Sister Zane is already gone."

Beatrice Hargrave...

A small head poked out from under the quilt. After glancing around, she heaved a heavy sigh. Her little face was adorably pink from being hidden for too long.

Seeing Beatrice in such an adorable state, Nicholas’s heart softened. He sat sideways at the bedside, his large palm instinctively covering Beatrice’s cheek, gently caressing it.

Beatrice looked up at him, her pursed lips appearing shy.

"Bea," Nicholas called softly, lifting Beatrice’s head to rest on his lap, his large palm still gently on her cheek. He said tenderly, "Uncle is serious, Uncle will marry you."

"Really?" Beatrice murmured, raising her hand to cover Nicholas’s face too. After being apart for three years, they were finally together again.

"Yes," Nicholas responded, his stern face showing earnestness, "But there’s something Uncle wants to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Uncle once had a young girlfriend. Although we separated, she’s always been in Uncle’s heart." Mentioning Sophie Foster made Nicholas’s voice heavy. Beatrice blinked, waiting for him to continue without interruption.

"Uncle wants to tell Bea that Uncle will be good to you, but..." Nicholas stopped again, his large hand cradling Beatrice’s small face seriously, "Uncle’s heart will always have a place for her. Can Bea understand?"

Listening to the man’s heartfelt words, the emotions within Beatrice were indescribable, biting her lip to hold back the emotion in her heart.

Thinking she was hesitating, Nicholas sighed and said, "Bea, Uncle doesn’t want to lie to you because... Uncle really can’t forget her."

"Uncle," came a soft murmur. Beatrice wrapped her arms around Nicholas’s neck, pulling him down towards her, offering her lips to express her feelings through action.

Becoming Uncle Nicholas’s girl again, Beatrice’s joy was written all over her face. Even during meals, the corners of her mouth were uplifted. She occasionally glanced at the man opposite her. When her eyes met Nicholas’s, she would shyly lower her head.

But good times always seemed short-lived. In the middle of the meal, Nicholas’s phone rang. It was Henry Hargrave asking if he had seen Beatrice and when he would send her home...

Glancing at the girl across from him, Nicholas said, "Bea is having a meal with me now. I will send her home after we eat."

"Oh, alright. Thank you so much, Nicholas." After some polite exchanges, Henry hung up. Across the table, Beatrice lowered her eyes, the smile on her face fading, as she mindlessly poked at her food on the plate with her chopsticks.

"What’s wrong, don’t want to go back?" Placing the phone on the dining table, Nicholas looked up, and Beatrice also raised her eyes. Although she didn’t want to go back to that house, she still pressed her lips and shook her head.

"Tell Uncle, what really happened yesterday?" Nicholas asked, knowing in his heart that it must have been a significant conflict with Hannah Hargrave. Otherwise, given her obedient nature, she wouldn’t impulsively run away from home.

"It’s nothing, just argued with my sister over something small," Beatrice lowered her eyes again, sipping a small amount of juice.

Nicholas, being shrewd as he was, kept his dark eyes on Beatrice, asking quietly, "Was it because of me?"
