Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 88 - : I’ll Never Like Daddy
Chapter 88 - 88: I’ll Never Like Daddy
Meanwhile, Ruby, who had stepped away to call James, missed the chaos.
Hearing her daughter's cries made her worried and her face instantly became gloomy.
When Ruby saw Kate surrounded by a crowd, she yelled, "What's going on, Kate? Why are you acting like this? Are you really this shameless? I can't believe I gave birth to such a useless child. What are you sitting there for? Haven't you already embarrassed yourself enough?"
Ruby grabbed Kate by the wrist and dragged her out of the banquet hall with a look of hatred, not pity, in her eyes.
"You're hurting me, Mom! Why... Why am I an embarrassment? I was just doing what you taught me! This is all Chantelle's fault. She's the reason for all of this! If not for her... Ouch! Let go of me!"
Kate protested frantically, trying to break free from Ruby's strong grip, but Ruby ignored her and pulled her away from the scene of humiliation.
When they disappeared from view, Daniel whispered into Chantelle's ear, "Ms. Bently, I have a way to make the Bentlys disappear from Easthan for good. Just say the word."
Daniel could see the anger and relief in Chantelle's eyes, and it made him wonder how much pain Ruby and Kate had caused her in the past.
She was sweet and kind-hearted, so she wouldn't have hated the Bentlys this much unless they had hurt her deeply.
He wanted to help by getting the Bentlys out of Easthan, knowing it would make her happy.
It was also his way of making up for the pain he had caused her. He had neglected her, and Kate had influenced him to make Chantelle's life worse.
"I can handle things myself. You don't need to help, Mr. Wilson." Chantelle looked at him and firmly turned down his offer.
Though disappointed, Daniel decided not to push her. "Okay, Ms. Bently. If you ever need help, just let me know."
"Thanks," she mumbled, nodding.
After a long pause, Daniel talked again, trying to break the awkward silence. "Ms. Bently, I'm curious. What happened between you and the Bently family?"

Chantelle was surprised by Daniel's sudden question, and a brief look of panic flashed in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared.
She responded casually, "It's just some clichéd story. Someone like you wouldn't be interested."
Her short answer showed she didn't want to explain further.
Daniel would make my life miserable if he learned the truth. He thinks I caused Wesley's death. I need evidence to prove Kate is behind it.
"Clichéd story? Did Kate steal your boyfriend?" Daniel asked further.
He was curious and wanted to understand more about their complicated history, despite knowing revealing Chantelle's identity could cause trouble.
"I didn't know you were so nosy. Mr. Wilson, you really pay attention to what's happening around you. Too bad you're not an author," Chantelle replied sharply, not wanting to reveal her true identity.
"Okay, if you don't want to talk about your past, I won't push you," Daniel said, giving in.
Realizing there was no point in staying, Chantelle made an excuse. "I'm feeling a bit tired. I'll leave first."
She quickly set her glass down and headed for the door.
"Wait, I'm leaving too!" Daniel was surprised by her sudden exit.
He fumbled with his glass and quickly stood up to follow her.
Chantelle waved her hand and walked faster, saying, "It's a great event. Look at all the beautiful ladies around. You should stay and enjoy yourself, Mr. Wilson."
As she disappeared from sight, Daniel shouted angrily, "Chantelle Bently!"
It was the first time someone had turned him down.
Chantelle returned to Western Hill Villa half an hour later.
Before she could take off her stilettos, a young boy ran down the stairs to greet her. "You're home, Mommy! You were gone for hours! I've lost so much weight because I missed you so much!"
She looked at the boy clinging to her leg and teased him, "You look like you've gained weight instead, Kane. You've been eating well, haven't you? Since when did you learn to lie?"
Chantelle wrapped her arms around Kane and squeezed his chubby cheeks.
He's gotten so much heavier since I last saw him. I can barely lift him now. What nerve he has to say he's lost weight!
"I missed you too much, Mommy. I tend to exaggerate when I'm lovesick," Kane said, burying his face in Chantelle's neck and cuddling with her.
"You little brat! I wonder who taught you all that sweet talk," she said, pinching his cheeks again with a smile.
"Mommy taught me, of course! Look at my handsome face. I look like Mommy, talk like Mommy, and think like Mommy," Kane said, admiring his features in the mirror. He giggled and added, "Where's Daddy? Why didn't he come back with you? Has he accepted that Mommy hates him?"
Before Chantelle could respond, Kane turned to the front gate and started making sharp remarks about Daniel.
"Maybe," she replied wearily. It had been a long day, and she was too exhausted to care about Daniel.
Kane suggested, "Why don't we ask Daddy to stay a few more days? I'll go with him if he goes home. I won't get to see you every day, Mommy!"
Seeing his mother's lack of response, Kane's first thought was to be glad that Daniel had finally realized his efforts were pointless. He was thankful to the Wilson family for treating him well and giving him rich food and high-quality clothes.
But the idea of losing his mother and having to pretend to be his brother was unbearable.
He wished Daniel would just stay at Chantelle's house. He believed he could protect her from his father.
"Kane Bently, have you started to like your dad?" Chantelle asked with a serious look.
The little boy placed his hand on his chest and replied, "I'm Mommy's precious son. I'll never like Daddy!"
Kane grinned playfully and gave Chantelle a quick kiss on the cheek.
Suddenly, Daniel's loud voice interrupted their moment.
"Rai, Daddy's home! Come give me a hug!"
When Daniel entered the living room, he saw the little boy snuggling against Chantelle's neck. He wanted to join their precious moment and enjoy the family warmth.
"No! Daddy smells like alcohol!" Kane scrunched his nose and hugged Chantelle's neck even tighter without letting go.
