Chapter 75 - 75: What Are You Looking For?

Annoyed, she was about to call Ashton and demand that the articles be removed. But before she could, her phone rang—it was Ashton himself.

"Ms. Bently, the Wilson Group of Companies is prepared to invest another $100 million to keep the article trending," Ashton informed her.

Chantelle raised an eyebrow. "What exactly is the Wilson Group Of Companies trying to push so aggressively?" she asked.

Given the Wilsons' wealth and influence, they could easily buy a media company instead of relying on her.

"It's the topic about Mr. Wilson courting you, Ms. Bently..." Ashton briefly clarified.

Chantelle stared at her screen, speechless.

Was this man serious? First, he shamelessly declared his intentions to the media, and now he wanted to push the story even further? What was he thinking?

"That's not all," Ashton added. "He's requested that the topic stay at the top of the search rankings for at least the next three days."

Chantelle let out a dry laugh. "He sure has a lot of demands, doesn't he?" she said sarcastically.

She crossed her legs, tapping her fingers against the sofa.

"Fine. Go back and tell Mr. Wilson that his request isn't a problem," she said smoothly. "But the price will be ten times what it used to be."

"I understand, Ms. Bently," Ashton said before ending the call.

Chantelle still felt a burning frustration inside her, but soon, curiosity took over.

Why was Daniel acting so differently? He was always cold and distant. Just a few nights ago, he had stormed into her home, accusing her of having ulterior motives. Now, he was making public declarations about courting her?

She couldn't understand him.

Last night, Daniel hadn't been around when Railer cut his birthday cake. He wasn't with Kate either.

By the time he showed up at Western Hill Villa, Chantelle had already returned home.

So where had Daniel been?

A suspicion formed in her mind. She walked over to the kitchen island and flipped open her laptop.

There were only a few things that could make Daniel miss his own son's birthday. Her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard as she pulled up surveillance footage from across the city.

Using facial recognition and vehicle tracking, she traced Daniel's movements.

His destination? Silver Crest Global District—Philip Collins's territory.

Wait... Felix Turner?

Something didn't add up.

The way Felix was attacked didn't match the Lone Wolf's usual method of assassination. If Felix had survived, he would have been badly injured.

Chantelle had already sent Russell to check every hospital and clinic in Easthan. But she had overlooked one possibility—Philip Collins. The man owned an entire medical facility built inside his building.

Realizing something, Chantelle rushed upstairs.

"Future Oscar-winning star, it's your time to shine!" she called out to Kane.

Ten minutes later, Kane, who had been happily watching his favorite cartoon, was kidnapped by his own mother and dragged into the car.

"Mommy, are you sure it's a good idea for just the two of us to ambush the naggy doctor?" Kane asked, tilting his head. He had met Dr. Collins a few times before.

Apart from his endless lectures, the doctor didn't seem too bad.

Chantelle leaned in, lowering her voice. "Hmm, it's not exactly the most traditional way to investigate, so you'll have to play your part well. Make sure no one figures out who you really are."

"Got it, Mommy!" Kane grinned. He would never disobey the woman who brought him into this world. Plus, with his natural acting skills, there was no doubt his Mommy would get the answers she was looking for!

Before long, Chantelle and Kane arrived in front of the medical lab at Building 87 in Silver Crest Global District.

Philip Collins was surprised to see Chantelle standing at his door. His medical lab was private, and he never accepted walk-ins. Other than Daniel Wilson, no one had ever come uninvited.

"Ms. Bently, what brings you here?" he asked, eyeing her curiously.

Chantelle smiled apologetically. "Dr. Collins, I'm sorry for the sudden visit. This little one has been having terrible migraines and kept insisting I bring him to his favorite Dr. Collins. So, I tracked down your address."

As she spoke, she turned and lifted Kane into her arms.

Kane put on his best pained expression. "Dr. Collins... my head hurts... hug me..." he said weakly as his breathing became ragged.

Philip, who had been wary at first, immediately relaxed when he saw Kane.

He mistook him for Railer. "Rai? Are you feeling sick? Let Uncle Philip take a look!"

He scooped Kane into his arms and invited them inside.

Kane nodded weakly, resting his head on Philip's shoulder without another word.

As the doctor rushed him through the doors, he completely missed the playful wink Kane shot at his mother.

Chantelle chuckled softly at her son's antics and followed them inside, walking into Philip Collins's lab.

Philip's laboratory was massive, spanning at least 5,000 square feet.

He carried Kane straight into the treatment room on the right. With Kane keeping him occupied, he would likely ignore Chantelle for a while.

Taking advantage of this, Chantelle glanced at the evacuation map mounted on the wall and made her way to the resting area marked on it.

Based on the facility's layout, severely injured patients were likely kept near the medical lab.

Fortunately, each room had a label. Before long, she reached the resting area, which had three rooms.

She pulled a small white disk from her pocket and pressed the button on top.

She placed the small disk on the nearest door.

Nothing happened.

Frowning, she retrieved it and moved to the second room.

The small white disk was a mini thermal energy detector. When placed on a door, it would light up red if someone was inside. Simple but effective.

Yet, there was no reaction from the second room either.

There's only one more room left.

Chantelle approached the last door, as she tried to hold her breath. She placed the disk against it.

A red light flickered on. Someone was inside.

When Chantelle saw the red light on the small disk, she felt excited and she slowly slid into the room.

The moment she entered, she bumped into someone.

A deep, rough voice spoke, sending chills down her spine.

"Ms. Chantelle? What brings you to my room so suddenly? What are you looking for?"
