Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 362: I Owe You
"Mr. Wilson, the Smiths couple have already gone to see Trenton," Lex said as he knocked and entered. There was a trace of excitement on his face.
Daniel shot him a cold glance. Lex immediately straightened his face and stood still, just like the bodyguard beside him.
"Is everything ready?" Daniel asked, looking at Lex and the other bodyguard. Both nodded firmly.
Daniel waved his hand, signaling them to go carry out their tasks. But Lex didn’t leave. He walked up to Daniel and said seriously, "I’ll go bring William back for you."
"My strength will be fully restored in an hour," Daniel reminded him.
Lex still insisted, "I’ll go. You saved my life and gave me a job. I owe you."
"It’s not that I don’t want you to repay me," Daniel replied. "But this isn’t something you can handle. Can you code? Can you crack the security system in Trenton’s castle? Can you avoid infrared detection?"
Lex was left speechless by all the questions.
He only had so much strength left. If Daniel hadn’t helped him last time, he would’ve died in that research center.
What made it worse was how foolish he’d been back then. He was ready to die with Trenton, not knowing the man in front of him wasn’t even Trenton. He had no idea what the real Trenton looked like.
Seeing Lex’s face turn red, Daniel tried to pacify his embarrassment. "Your mission this time is important," he said. "Trenton’s killers are like ancient warriors trained to die without fear. Taking them down won’t be easy."
Calvin had once told him that Trenton kept over twenty killers. The men who helped fight them were all from Calvin, too. Calvin had spent years gathering those people to bring Trenton down and protect Chantelle.
That’s why he had to win this time. He couldn’t afford to lose. If he did, Chantelle would be the one in danger.
"You can count on me, Mr. Wilson. I’ll get it done!" Lex said, walking away with determination.
Daniel checked the time, then slowly stood up, using the wheelchair’s armrest for support. He moved forward step by step, but his strength hadn’t returned yet, so his pace was slow.
He wasn’t in a rush. He focused on practicing, step by step, without stopping.
Over ten minutes later, a large group of reporters had gathered outside Trenton’s castle. These weren’t ordinary reporters. They came from major TV stations and well-known magazines around the world.
There was no way to fight against them.
Paolo glared at Trenton and asked angrily, "Why did this happen? Do you know what those reporters are saying? They’re saying we’re no different from you, that we’re trafficking people and treating those people from Danontand like demons."
"Aren’t you?" Trenton said with a greasy smile, shrugging.
Winnie exploded in anger. She smashed all the glasses on the table. "We told you to get rid of those people from Danontand! You killed them all, but they were caught on camera. Do you have any idea how horrifying those scenes looked?"
"If those images of their deaths hadn’t been shown, maybe things wouldn’t have gotten this bad. But now the footage is everywhere, and our enemies are using the media to cause a huge problem for us."
Trenton’s smile faded. He stared coldly at the Smiths couple. "You did it in secret, and now you expect me to clean up your mess? How dare you."
"So what if we did it? You still need to help us clean up the mess! Look at the situation now," Paolo shouted.
Trenton just sneered and said nothing.
The Smiths couple felt awkward. Paolo wanted to argue more, but Winnie stopped him. They needed money, and pushing Trenton too far wouldn’t help them.
The Smiths couple exchanged a look, then spoke to Trenton in a calm tone. "For now, we should focus on finding a way to get through this together."
Trenton looked at them, his face full of mockery. "Are you sure you can make it through this?"
Winnie suddenly got angry. "What do you mean by that? Aren’t we in this together?"
Trenton looked at her and smiled mysteriously, making Winnie nervous.
"Oh my god, what have you done?"
Paolo shoved his phone in front of Trenton angrily.
Trenton gave it a quick glance and calmly pushed Paolo’s hand aside. "Let’s be honest. You’re keeping a way out for yourselves, so of course, I’m keeping one for myself too," he said.
He knew exactly what the Smiths couple were planning. Once they couldn’t cover up their crimes anymore, they’d use him as their scapegoat.
After all, the authorities didn’t care about people from Danontand doing dirty work.
But he wasn’t someone they could control.
And when he looked at the phone just now, he noticed something else; his evidence in Chantelle’s hands.
She actually gave up the evidence she had protected for so long, just for that man.
"Do you think you can get away with this? At worst, we’ll all die together," Paolo shouted as he approached him, trying to grab Trenton’s collar. But Trenton easily dodged him.
He didn’t bother saying anything more. He waved his hand, signaling the bodyguards to throw them out.
"Trenton! I won’t let you go! I’ll drag you to hell with me!" Paolo yelled as he was forced out.
Not long after, Trenton heard the noise outside. It must be the Smiths couple surrounded by reporters.
Then, he got the call he had been expecting. "I can only give you an hour. You need to act fast."
"Thank you." Trenton hung up the phone but didn’t pack or try to escape. He just sat on the sofa, and fell in a deep thought.
"Trenton, what should we do now? Should we go back immediately?" Cameron asked nervously. He had refused to return before, but now that the Smiths couple were in trouble, all he wanted was to leave.
Luckily, he had followed Trenton’s advice and handed over the business here in time. He was able to save some profits from it.
"You and Ms. Amy must leave first," Trenton said.
"What about you? Trenton, why do you look so pale? Are you sick?" Cameron walked up to him. He normally wouldn’t dare ask Trenton questions like that, but now things were different. If Trenton collapsed, they’d be leaderless.
Trenton felt something wasn’t right with his body, too. His hand moved unconsciously to the wound on his chest.
"Go get William," he said.
Cameron rushed off and soon returned with William. After checking him, William said Trenton had been injected with a virus from the research center. There was no cure for it yet.
"That bitch Chantelle must’ve done this to you," Cameron growled.
Trenton shot him a cold glare, and Cameron immediately fell silent.
