Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 359: Where Did He Go?
Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Where Did He Go?
Chantelle let out a sigh of relief. At least Trenton didn’t take him. But if Daniel left by himself, why didn’t he tell the bodyguards? Why make them search all over for him?
"Why are you only telling us now that Daddy left on his own? Didn’t you see that the uncles were all worried and looking for him?" Chantelle crouched down and asked softly.
Stephanie yawned. "Daddy said not to tell anyone until Mommy came back."
What was Daniel trying to do? Where did he go?
Chantelle took Stephanie back to her room and waited until she fell asleep. Then, she called Calvin.
"What’s going on with Trenton?"
"One of Trenton’s fleets got blown up. It came out that they were involved in human trafficking. The police are looking into it now." Calvin was stunned when he got the news.
But it wasn’t the human trafficking part that surprised him. Trenton was only in his thirties and already had a massive fortune, something most regular businessmen couldn’t pull off.
Calvin was stunned that Trenton was actually in trouble this time. He had been running wild in Carcosa for years. With strong ties to high-ranking officials and wealthy businessmen, no one dared to touch him.
He had no idea who had the guts to challenge him now.
"What else?" Chantelle asked. She had a strong feeling Daniel was behind this. She opened her tablet and started checking the news.
She had heard of Trenton’s fleet before. It was massive. He had plans to turn it into an unmanned operation. She didn’t expect it to end up in flames like this.
The people he trafficked were all from Danontand. These are people who were thin, weak, and clearly abused. If not for this incident, they would’ve ended up as the cheapest laborers in Carcosa.
No one would’ve ever known what kind of nightmare those people would’ve faced.
"Mr. Wilson is missing, and nearly all the Wilson Group Of Companies’ personnel in Carcosa are out looking for him. Trenton must’ve heard about it by now and is probably trying to catch him," Calvin said.
As soon as he finished, a thought hit him, and his heart began to race.
He always believed only the top capitalists in Carcosa had the power to go against someone like Trenton. He never imagined Daniel would be the one to cause trouble for Trenton.
Could it really be Mr. Wilson? If it is, our trip to Carcosa just got a whole lot tougher.
Should I tell the people here and ask them to help Ms. Chantelle?
Calvin fell into a deep thought, but Chantelle had already made up her mind. "Release all the information we’ve gathered about Trenton. You know who to send it to, right?"
"Ms. Chantelle, releasing it now might not bring him out. If it doesn’t work and Trenton fights back, we won’t be able to stop him."
"If we don’t release it now, we might lose the chance forever." Chantelle’s tone was firm.
Calvin didn’t say another word. He quickly told his people to get it done.
There was still a lot to prepare. If they didn’t act fast, Trenton’s return could mean their end.
Chantelle stood by the villa’s floor-to-ceiling windows, feeling anxious. Trenton’s mental state wasn’t stable. Even if she hadn’t provoked him today, he would’ve found another excuse to drag her down with him.
Now that she and Daniel had both caused him trouble, he might feel there was still some excitement left in his dark, empty life. He probably wouldn’t try to end it just yet.
But soon, he’d start playing his usual game, cat and mouse.
He’d find ways to tear Daniel’s family apart, make them live in fear, and push Daniel into running, just like he had done to her before.
Trenton wouldn’t kill them quickly. He liked to take his time, scratching, drawing blood, lifting them up just to slam them down again. Like a cat playing with a mouse, he’d keep hurting them bit by bit until they were broken, exhausted, and finally dead.
The more Chantelle thought about it, the more anxious she felt. She couldn’t let Daniel go through what she had gone through. She couldn’t let the kids live in fear again.
This time, they had to win.
Meanwhile, in a castle on a private farm, a man sat on a luxurious leather sofa. The armrests were made of white jade and decorated with sparkling gems, flaunting wealth and extravagance.
But the man didn’t look well. His once bold and styled hair was now messy, hanging over his forehead, soaked with sweat and blood. Cuts marked his face, and the dried blood gave his gloomy expression a strange, dangerous charm. His black shirt was torn in several places and stained with blood.
"Didn’t catch him?" he asked while wrapping a bandage around his wounded hand.
Just that one look from him made the guards tremble. The pressure in the room was so intense that no one dared to breathe too loud. Their hands and feet shook uncontrollably.
Their fear of him made him feel a little better.
"Two hours. If you miss him, you might as well go die." Trenton tied the last bandage and made a quick knot.
When he looked at the knot he had tied, his thought suddenly drifted away for a moment.
A memory he didn’t want to remember flashed in his mind.
In it, his master was cooking in the kitchen. Chantelle was in the yard, playing hopscotch with two children.
He had chopped down a peach tree to make a sword for Kane.
Just a few days earlier, he showed Kane a Chinese martial arts movie. Since then, Kane had been begging for a sword, saying he wanted to be a hero.
The tree he had chopped down was planted by Joseph, who had looked after it for two or three years, but it never grew. This year, it finally bloomed, and his master said it would bear fruit. Everyone was happy when they heard that.
When he cut it down, he saw a few small green peaches on the branches. But he didn’t hesitate. He hated seeing Chantelle and Joseph sitting under that tree, playing chess together.
They ended up fighting. Both got hurt so badly that it was hard to even separate them. The fight was so fierce that even their masters, who were supposed to stop them, ended up fighting each other too.
In the end, all four of them ended up with impressive wounds. While Chantelle wrapped their injuries, she muttered that they must’ve had nothing better to do.
She was proud of the clean, careful bandage she had made. Trenton begged her to teach him how to do it.
Chantelle patiently showed him, then offered to cook something good to help them heal. But just a few minutes later, she blew up her master’s kitchen.
Out of nowhere, Trenton started laughing as he pulled back to reality. The people kneeling below him trembled, thinking he had come up with a new way to torture them.
