Mr. CEO, You Look Strangely Familiar-Chapter 51: I’d Rather Die Than Marry You (Part 1)
A circle of Men in Black stood around the pavilion.
"Go on in. The Young Master is inside."
Nora Ainsworth cautiously climbed the steps and pushed open the heavy, gold-trimmed doors.
Once inside, she looked around, her lips parting in shock.
From the outside, it was impossible to see into the pavilion. But from the inside, it was the complete opposite. Mist swirled around a massive hot spring pool, and through the glass walls, she could clearly see every movement outside.
The temperature inside was extremely high. She looked at Quentin Grant. He was sitting on the sofa, a single bath towel wrapped around his waist, his expression grim as he watched her.
"Coming to me of your own free will?"
Though the room was as warm as summer, a chill ran through Nora Ainsworth. "Yes, I came of my own free will."
Quentin Grant raised an eyebrow. "If you’re here to talk about your marriage to Leon Lynch, don’t bother."
Nora Ainsworth looked him straight in the eye. "You’re getting married in a few days. Why are you so determined to ruin me?"
"It seems your memory really is terrible. I told you I wouldn’t marry her. I also told you that without my permission, Leon Lynch will never be able to marry you. But you’ve forgotten all of it, letting my words go in one ear and out the other. Nora, if I don’t give you a harsh reminder, you’ll forget whose woman you are!" Quentin Grant stood up, the towel hanging loosely around his waist as he advanced on her.
Nora Ainsworth took a step back. He took a step forward. For every step he took, she retreated one of her own.
After just a few steps, Nora Ainsworth’s back was against the wall. But Quentin Grant stopped advancing and simply watched her with an air of leisurely confidence. "If you’ve got the guts to walk out that door, then don’t ever appear before me again."
She glanced at the door but didn’t have the courage to make a break for it.
Her past pride turned to ash in that moment.
"Tell me, what will it take for you to agree? As long as you agree, I’ll do anything."
Quentin Grant scoffed. "You’ll do anything? The only decent thing about you is your body. Tell me, what else do you possibly have to offer?"
Nora Ainsworth’s face paled. She clenched her fists and lifted her head. "You’re right. The only thing I have is myself. I have nothing else. But isn’t that the very reason you can’t forget me? You’re stopping my marriage because of it. Just how long are you going to be this tyrannical? My future brother-in-law!"
She practically spat out the last few words.
An unreadable, inscrutable expression played on Quentin Grant’s lips as he stared at her. "You want to marry Leon Lynch that badly? Am I not as good as him?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Nora Ainsworth froze. "What... what do you mean?"
Quentin Grant let out a derisive laugh. "Since it doesn’t matter whether I marry Sharon Ainsworth or not, how about I marry you instead? I’ll grant you that honor. How does that sound? I’m giving you the chance to become my wife. It’s a promotion for you, isn’t it?"
’I don’t want to marry him, a man incapable of love. I especially don’t want to be under his control for the rest of my life. Even this brief confinement is worse than death, let alone being legally bound to him.’
’I don’t want to marry him! I just want to escape his control!’
"Since you don’t want me to marry Leon Lynch, then I won’t," she said, giving up the fight. Compared to marrying Quentin, she would rather leave the Ainsworth Family, even if it meant extinguishing her mother’s hopes.
Quentin Grant’s pupils constricted. "Nora Ainsworth, you’re quite skilled at feigning retreat to advance. Fine. You don’t want to marry me? Then I’ll force you to!"
Nora Ainsworth’s face was deathly pale. She had never expected things to turn out like this.
