Mr Bodyguard, Protect Your Heart!-Chapter 177: IF I HAVE TO, I SHALL DO IT AGAIN
Noah looked down, his heart racing, waiting for Dove to say something. It was true that, he did not tell her what was the real reason for him to avoid Dove, but that did not mean that whatever he said was a lie completely.
Growing up, he had indeed faced everything that he hold her, living with the Sterling family. Now, it was completely true that the Sterling family had treated him with nothing but love and affection. And neither that his adopted father, nor Senior Sterling showed that they thought of him as an adopted child just because his mother was married in the family. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
But that was not how every other people thought. The extended families, the relatives, their circle people, most of them would some how bring it up, that whatever he had been, it was all because of the surname that he carried. Even when he had topped the classes, and had scored the highest in the school, yet there were people who said that it was only because, he now was a part of the Sterling family that they spent a good amount in his education, that he can really achieve it. Or else, he would not be able to do it.
Noah, who was only a growing young man, in his teens, he used to feel incredibly insulted in his heart, whenever he used to face that. He would be incredibly angry, and time and again, would be ready to speak back. But then, whenever he would think of it, he would stop. Because, somewhere in him he did not feel courageous enough as he still carried the same surname.
And even though, Noah felt a mental exhaustion whenever he used to face it, but yet it was not enough for him to avoid Dove. After all, at that time, he was equally close to Dove, like she was to him. He knew that she needed him, and he did not want anything to affect his bond with Dove, even at the expense of something that was hurting him from inside.
Dove looked at him, many emotions still swirling through her eyes, but among those this time there was a hint of pity too, as she thought what must have the young Noah must have gone though, while she always thought that everything was fine.
And after what felt like an eternity for Noah, he finally heard Dove’s low voice, "And why did you never say this to Dad?" He would have surely helped you. Dove wanted to say that too, but for some reason she said nothing more. And on hearing that, a small smile appeared on Noah’s face, and he simply shook his head. "Maybe, I could. But even though I was young, I had a self respect that kept me from telling anyone and involving them. And now that I think of it, I feel that I did the right thing. If I have to do it again, I will do the same thing."
Dove after saying that, stared straight into his eyes, before she sighed and then turned around saying, "We are getting late to go home. And my son is already very tired. You must go home too, Noah." And she walked to where her car was. And Noah just stood there, without saying anything this time, and simply stared at Dove’s back.
"She did not say anything." He whispered to himself. But the next second, a small smile appeared on his face, as he saw her get in the car, whose door was held open by Dante. His eyes were locked on Dove’s figure, and even after the door was shut closed, he did not move his gaze from locked door through which she has just disappeared. And just when he moved his eyes, his gaze immediately fell on the man standing at the door, passing a cold glare at him.
And looking at him glaring at him in that way, he felt strangely weird, almost like a chill run down his spine.
Dante too did not delay there anymore, he got on the driver car, and soon the car drove away from the parking area, leaving Noah standing there. Noah watched the car disappear. And then he took a breathe, allowing himself to forget about Dante. And his mindm then again drifted to Dove, and how she said nothing about what he said.
And then a small smile appeared on his face again, and he turned to go to his own car, whispering, "She did not say anything. But she also did not say anything." Meaning, she did not say anything positive, but then again, she also she said nothing in negative too. And Noah really hoped that everything between them would improve from here onwards.
Yes, he had lied to Dove, and he did not tell her the truth. And it was because, he can’t. He absolutely couldn’t take the risk of telling her the truth, about his feelings, without knowing if there was a right time. Everything was haphazard and horribly out of line between them. And risking what ever little was there by telling her that he liked her romantically, may just ruin everything.
After all, one thing he knew was that, Dove never had the kind of feelings he had for her. And now, she also has a kid. And though, she always keeps on saying that the father of the child is present in their lives, and they are together, Noah in truth actually doubts it.
He believed that if that was so, then Gavi is almost turning four, and why has the man still not shown up publically. And knowing Dove, she was not at all a woman who would settle with a man who hasn’t given her a proper commitment and a valid reason.
And even if there was, Noah wanted to see all by himself. And for that, first he had to get his relationship back with Dove like before. And than maybe, he could slowly win over her heart. But before everything, Noah really wanted that little girl, who once trusted him and depended on him, back. As one thing he realised was that, putting distance between them did not work in his favour in any way.
