Mountain Sitting Immortal-Chapter 301: Advancement Upon Advancement.
There was no fancy move. He simply sped up, equipped his gauntlets, and smashed the first golem's head to pieces. Then he turned towards the second golem and smashed it to pieces too.
The second golem shot a fireball the size of a football at him, but his energy shield protected him completely while he used the claw techniques that he had learned to pierce the golem's head and crush it.
He couldn't crush or smash the golems, though. Their bodies flashed red, and they froze. Then they disappeared after he was done defeating both of them.
He passed the second level, but there was no joy in his face. Now that he knows just how powerful he is, it is to be expected that he would defeat the golems. It is not worth celebrating to him.
If there is something worth celebrating, it is that he has finally mastered his power after transcending the first mortal coil. He feels as if he has finally filled up his new body, recovered from the loss of the pride intent, and adapted to his new state of existence.
FIGHTING EXCELLENCE TEST.
#Level 2: Passed.
#Completion Time: 55 seconds.
#Choose one option. 8
1. Exit.
2. Retry.
3. Advance.
He cleared the test in 8 seconds. Compared to the 55 seconds he spent when he was wasting time being cautious and using spells, the difference is massive.
His completion time is even faster than the time he spent on the first test. But it cost him less energy to achieve this.
He didn't waste time and energy casting spells. He spent only 14 units of internal energy and mental energy on the fight. So he was still in good condition. He decided not to rest and take the level 3 test.
So he said, "Advance."
The third level began earnestly. Then the fourth level. After that was the fifth level.
Throughout his fights, he only used the swift body spell and the energy shield spell.
The energy shield spell costs 4 units of internal and mental energy, while the swift body spell costs 10 units of internal energy to activate and more energy depending on how long it is used for.
The swift body spell requires 10 units of energy every 30 seconds. As long as he doesn't use the spell for 30 seconds, it won't consume extra.
So as long as he can kill all his enemies in 30 seconds, it doesn't matter how many there are. His energy cost will remain the same.
The only difference in energy cost was caused by the energy shield spell. This spell won't consume more internal energy than was used to cast it until it is struck by something.
As long as the shield isn't struck, it will only consume mental energy to maintain. But once struck, its durability will reduce, and it will need his internal energy to replenish it.
He got hit more more golems he fought at once. So as the difficulty of the test increased, the energy cost of the energy shield also increased.
Be that as it may, the energy cost seems efficient to him. It was certainly cheaper than what it would cost him to cast his elemental wood spells, so he didn't care about the energy cost. He clashed head-on with the golems and beat them to the ground quickly.
His entire strategy became blitzkrieg. He prioritized only speed and power.
As it turned out, that was all he needed. That and energy, of course.
Energy was his greatest limit. Once he couldn't defeat all of his enemies in 30 seconds, his energy expenditure for each fight will double.
The only thing that prevented a fight from being prolonged was that the golems didn't try to run away. They were always close to him so he could easily reach them.
Even if they retreat, it is only temporary. Even so, it became more and more difficult to kill all his enemies in 30 seconds.
It also became more difficult to dodge every attack and arrow thrown to him. So even if he could kill all his enemies in 30 seconds, the cost of the energy shield will still be high.
At first, he could rest up and use pills to recover his mental and internal energy when he became tired. But he couldn't do that when he reached level 37 of the fighting excellence test.
This was the point where he was finally defeated. He was defeated by 37 golems because he ran out of energy during the fight. He was surrounded and eliminated after his shield fell.
FIGHTING EXCELLENCE TEST.
#Level 37: Failed.
#Survival Time: 54 seconds.
#Choose one option.
1. Exit.
2. Retry.
3. Advance.
He could find a way to prolong his survival time by delaying his elimination. But he didn't care for it.
He had continued to fight to see where his limit lay. Now that he has found it, he has no interest in fighting anymore.
So, for the first time, he said, "Exit."
His figure flashed, and he was sent to the teleportation platform outside of the library.
When he came out, he saw a crowd of people looking at him. There were a lot of people on the ground and in the air. It won't be an exaggeration to say that both the ground and the sky were overcrowded.
Many of them were new disciples. But there were some old disciples too. These old outer sect disciples were interested because level 37 is a record performance in the fighting excellence test for both the new disciples and old disciples.
So they wanted to see what was so special about him. They wanted to see if he had three heads and nine arms. If he had three heads and nine arms, they would think it was reasonable in light of his performance.
Some of these people came to see the fighting genius who could defeat 20 cultivators with the same cultivation as him. They were the ones who came here two days ago.
