Chapter 73: Sickness

"In the midst of life’s profound absurdity, the search for ultimate meaning is one of the greatest lies man tells himself. If you seek a purpose, let it be as simple as a spoonful of soup. For that spoonful is not merely a soup—it is the quiet expression of another’s labor, it’s their affection in another form. Sometimes, existence is no more complicated than that: as simple as a bowl of soup..."

(by Emir Adar, AKA the author)

Midnight, Arcadia Academy.

I was lying in my bed, Artemis had left, and Gabriel had stayed.

I had slept all day, so I wasn’t very sleepy...

A portal opened in my room—or rather, I allowed someone to come—and I cast a soundproofing spell over the entire room because I knew the visitor would shout.

"Which son of a bitch touched my benefactor!!" An angry woman appeared.

This was Iris von Dragnar.

The little girl I had taken care of when she was young had now become an empress.

Gabriel appeared: "Woman, Raul is sick. Shouting like that isn’t good."

"Archangel? For god’s sake, how many sides of yours do I not know, Raul?" said Iris, sighed, and sat on the chair next to me.

Gabriel: "What, you don’t like it?" she said.

"For an angel, your tongue is quite venomous," said Iris, and narrowed her eyes, but it didn’t last long, and she put her hand on my head.

Her eyes looked teary as she looked at me.

"Come on, are you going to turn back into the old crybaby?" I said, and chuckled lightly.

Iris laughed too: "You’re still the same bastard. How did the events unfold? Which god did you fight? It must be a god king... or a primordial."

"It was Odin, and he collected divinity from all the gods, gained power equal to a primordial with the support of the primordials," I told her the whole story and everything that happened.

I hadn’t even told Stella in this much detail, and I trusted Iris.

This girl had searched for me for thousands of years, and only found me in this century—god knows how many timelines I had gone back in.

Iris hit the bedside table and caused it to break: "Those bastard gods!!! When I reach tier 10 and gain divinity, I’ll make them all regret it."

"No need. Odin will suffer for eternity, and that will be quite entertaining. Besides that, I sent Artemis’s brother Apollo to the underworld, and I have a few revenge lists, and I’ll meet them all when I recover," I said, and I gritted my teeth too, but started coughing, and Iris wiped it with her hand.

She looked at the blood on her hand for a while: "The universe’s really being destroyed and reborn in your fight... Gods are getting more and more terrifying when you know about them. If they’re this powerful, why do they need heroes?"

"Fate. Because no matter how much of a bitch fate is, it’s on the side of the heroes. You’ve always seen the bad guys get defeated. In the immortal realm, that place with the cultivators, they call it ’son of heaven.’ Submission prefers to call these people chosen ones, and things like that. The power of fate is very frightening, and even in that fight, I used that power, and in a way, our fight with Odin was about who had the most right over probabilities and rules."

There was a silence: "I understand," said Iris, and broke the silence.

I turned my head to the window, but Iris stroked my hair: "Don’t try to act strong. No matter how much you try to distance yourself from me, or from people, even if everyone leaves you, I won’t leave you," she said.

Gabriel shook her head and looked pleased, and Iris turned to her: "Archangel, I don’t know what your relationship with Raul is, but you must know him somewhat, otherwise Raul wouldn’t even allow you to be here. So don’t be one of those who betray him! Otherwise, I’ll destroy the Submission religion with my own hands," said Iris.

Gabriel, displeased by this, still sighed: "Understood. Daddy issues. Don’t worry, as long as Raul doesn’t disrupt the natural order, I won’t do anything to him, and even if he does, I’ll stand directly against him. I don’t deal with doing plots against him."

Iris stood up and said her last words before leaving: "Take care of yourself, Dad."

"Hmm, call me Raul. Dad sounds too weird," I said.

But I heard Iris’s laughter: "Okay, Dad," she said, entered the portal, and went back.

If you ask about cosmic balance, it’s complicated.

Creation and destruction.

Ying and yang.

They are all related if you destroy so much or cause things against creation.

This is the worst crime ever; it’s like being an outer versal criminal.

Anyway.....

Thinking about it, fate is really strange.

Meeting Iris in her childhood, and despite that, she still became empress, but being a master and father figure for her...

I still remember how I used to teach her what mana can do.

About how I taught her swordsmanship.

And the first time I saved her from trolls...

For Beings like me, age is insignificant.

Since I can travel in time, I could be millions of years old at any moment.

Or if I spent time in my own created space-time room, I would be as old as Iris’s first ancestor.

Anyway, I’m still young, so it doesn’t matter.

"Come on, open your mouth. Pegasus is coming," said Gabriel, and this time she fed me.

I could get used to this...

(I hope you liked the Chapter, don’t forget to comment and leave a review. I love all of you, and happy New Year.

And about the beginning of the Chapter, there is a paragraph that contains my thoughts.

My idea of life is really similar to that, a bit nihilistic and a bit of realism, and voila! That’s me.

Anyways:

150 power stones=extra Chapter.

1 castle=extra Chapter.

Wait for the update, and thanks everyone for still reading my novel.)
