Chapter 39: Silent Scream

"Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it. Whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it." Quran, Surah Zilzal, verses 7-8

"Our Lord! After the account is established, forgive us and our forefathers who believed, our mothers, our fathers, our spouses, and our children. Indeed, You are the All-Powerful, the Wise in judgment." Prayer of Prophet Abraham

"For the great day of God’s wrath has come, and who can withstand it?" Bible (Revelation 6:17)

Raul POV.

Defending against the monsters was incredibly tough; because the seal of the devil god Lucifer was weakening, the emergence of monsters had increased dramatically.

When I was leaving the battlefield, the soldiers were collecting mana stones.

Mana stones have the same tier as the monsters’ tiers and are extremely valuable.

Currently, the empire is trying to improve access to ancient inheritances, and all empires have had these tools in secret.

But they are very expensive and precious; they cannot be used in every situation.

Monsters also have tiers.

Beginner.

Intermediate.

Elite.

Disaster.

Finally, Apocalypse.

An Apocalypse-level monster has only appeared once in history, a harbinger of the world’s destruction.

The mother spider I destroyed was an Elite-tier monster close to Disaster level.

With the mana stone collected from it, one could buy a mansion.

As soon as I emerged from the battle, I took a shower and cleaned the blood off me.

Duke Nox von Ragnar had told me to prepare for the evening.

Right now, I’m dressed in a suit; a choir performance is being held in the Ragnar Duchy.

Black jacket, white shirt, and pants underneath, finally a coat.

Under the jacket, I wore a black vest with red embellishments.

We were in the carriage.

"I didn’t know you liked such things, Duke Ragnar," I said, looking at the white-haired, purple-eyed man sitting across from me.

Similarly, a beautiful girl was sitting beside him; the night lamps illuminated the road.

The voices of vendors still selling could be heard around us.

Duke Ragnar chuckled: "Heh, as devils, we committed sins—at least our ancestors were responsible for it. Shouldn’t we ask for more mercy?"

"You’re just going because the choir appeals to your ears, Dad—who are you fooling?" the girl spoke; her name was Penelope von Ragnar.

Duke Ragnar’s face fell, and he lightly tapped his daughter’s head: "Shhh, don’t embarrass me in front of our guest."

Penelope rubbed the spot her father hit: "Sorry..."

Duke Ragnar saw me as his savior; though he was strong, he was only 5th tier.

His talent was average.

There was a system here that got progressively harder with each level.

If I had a tier, it would be 777.

This number fits for me.

Why?

The world was created in 7 days.

Jesus spoke 7 words on the cross.

There are 7 deadly sins and virtues.

The sword technique I use is also related to 7.

7 seals, 7 trumpets, 7 bowls = The End...

God’s power is ...

That’s why the tier system is meaningless for humanity that has ascended to godhood.

These are rare figures in history, like Hercules or Arthur Pendragon...

Here, choirs still existed, but it wasn’t called Christianity or Islam.

The name of the religion is Submission.

The holy books like the Quran, Bible, and Torah from my previous world exist.

The content wasn’t the same; the Bible here was the apocryphal version—they believed Jesus was a prophet, not the son of God.

Quite a complex system.

All Abrahamic religions in my previous world preached worship of God; nothing had changed here either.

There were only paladins; they drew power from God in return for their faith.

The good deeds they did were rewarded by their gods.

People we call saints or saintesses could perform miracles, but only with God’s permission.

Here, nuns could marry; if nuns didn’t marry for the love of God, who would continue bearing children?

What good would a declining world population do?

Anyway, it doesn’t matter—in the end, a saintess had cursed me when I was Sphirios killed.

(Chapter 5)

There was no pope; the operation of the religion was left to the saintesses, and the spoken language was Latin.

"Hmm, what are you thinking, Raul? You’ve gone quiet. Don’t you believe in God?" said Duke Ragnar.

I sighed: "No, Duke Ragnar, God exists and listens to me and sees me—the same applies to all of us."

I turned my head outside, knowing that too much is definitely not good.

"Still, your courage against the monsters is praiseworthy; you’re a monster in your own right," said Duke Ragnar.

Penelope seemed to agree, and I knew she had her eyes fixed on me: "Yes, I had a soldier record your battle video—it was very impressive."

"Hm, it’s nothing; just don’t spread it everywhere," I said.

But when Penelope turned to me, she looked a bit embarrassed: "Well, it might be a little late for that..."

Duke Ragnar and I sighed at the same time. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

’Hmm, at least game characters without daddy issues—how nice, but it’s bad that worse things are coming.’

Now there are more problems.

The sword mastery I used wasn’t just anything; it was a technique called the Sword of the End.

Finally, we arrived slowly.

We got out of the carriage slowly; since I was dressed quite elegantly and handsomely, everyone was staring at me.

"Shhh, isn’t that Raul von Vance?"

"The master of everything? The guy’s good at music, art, and fighting."

"I’m sure he’s hiding a monster under his pants."

Oh my God, most people murmured when they saw me.

I slowly slipped through the curious and admiring glances thrown at me and Duke Ragnar.

My father must be crazy; I hadn’t shown any of these talents when I was living with him.

I saw some female demons winking at me.

There was too much attention, but there was something more troublesome: "Raul, how about holding my daughter’s hand?"

"Dad, he has a girlfriend," said Penelope, diving into her father’s arm.

I chuckled a bit.

30 minutes later

There were quite a lot of people, and the seats were packed.

A red curtain covered the stage.

The hall was full; I think there were about 10,000 people.

It was very luxurious, and we were in the VIP balcony section, looking directly at the orchestra side.

When everyone sat down, the murmurs rose.

Most people were excited, and it showed on their faces; all the men were in suits.

The women were wearing black dresses.

At least most of them.

Slowly, all the musicians filled the stage and took their places at the instruments.

The choir separated from them, and the conductor came last.

The choir conductor slowly bowed to us first, then turned back to his musicians.

In his hand was a small wooden baton like a magical wand.

The violins and piano began to play, making the song itself feel as if it were sung by angels.

Everyone fell silent; no one could speak, and our hair stood on end.

"Lacrimosa, dies illa

Qua resurget ex favilla

Judicandus homo reus"

The choir sang very sincerely; a beautiful light enveloped the hall, and an angelic silhouette appeared above the choir.

A blonde angel with a halo on her head—it was dazzling.

The angel had 6 wings, and I noticed her eyes fixed on me.

But this can’t be...

"Lacrimosa dies illa

Qua resurget ex favilla

Judicandus homo reus"

Nox and Penelope, beside me, were enchanted, and they were right.

Everyone was silent; everyone felt God’s glory in their hearts.

"Huic ergo parce

Deus Pie Jesu, Pie domine"

Involuntarily, I saw the future.

Things I wanted to forget were coming before me.

I saw what Asmodeus wanted to forget.

Ragnarok or doomsday—call it what you will; I call it the destruction of the universe.

On that day, mothers would forget their children and drop them to the ground.

It was the day even death would die.

"Dona eis requiem

Dona eis requiem Amen"

Eternal rest or torment—though I know a bit about hell or heaven—some things scare even me.

(Song meaning:

Full of tears will be that day, When from the ashes shall arise The guilty man to be judged; Therefore spare him, O God, Merciful Lord, Grant them eternal rest. Amen.)

The choir drew out the final "Amen," and the entire sound echoed in the hall.

The angel disappeared, but I felt a counter-glare aura toward me.

I had lived through Judgment Day; on that day, God would judge everyone, and no one is exempt.

I felt a gaze on my face: "Raul, are you okay?"

Penelope and the duke looked at me in surprise: "Why, is something wrong?"

The duke reached out, wiped the corner of my eye with a handkerchief, and showed the blood on it.

I immediately pretended to pull out a mirror from subspace.

Blood was dripping from my eyes—I understood...

It almost touched my clothes.

So there’s never peace for me.

Call it God’s or Yhwach’s, Allah’s, or something else—His glory was on another level.

I used a cleaning spell and became like new.

"I’m better; I’m leaving. Have a good time." I said and snapped my fingers.

Duke Ragnar and Penelope were shocked at Raul’s escape; he wouldn’t hear the other orchestras.

What happened to him like that?

Why was he running as if guilty or to be judged?

May the supreme Lord have mercy on him...
