Chapter 36: What Are Those Abominations!?

"Simon, let's go. Titus has... said what he wants to, I don't think we can change his mind so easily. C'mon, I bet Lewis can make you your favourite rock cake..."

Duncan began consoling the poor dwarf who stood in shock, unable to grasp his dreams being shattered in front of him brutally. Gazing up, he met with Duncan, eyes now devoid of the light that once shone within. "So...what's the point of me building a rocket, huh? What was the point of me getting exiled by my clan, huh? WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ME TOILING AWAY FOR ALL THESE YEARS, ALL THESE YEARS WITH SCORN, JEERING, MOCKERY, HUH!? WAS ALL MY SUFFERING FOR NOTHING!? WAS I JUST A JOKE TO ALL YOU GUYS!? ANSWER ME DUNCAN, ANSWER ME!"

Rabid, Simon started shaking Duncan, demanding answers. Stripped of the very cause of his existence, Simon went insane. Barely escaping the mad dwarf's clutches, Duncan stepped to the side, dusting off his crumpled drakian leather coat. "Calm down Simon, calm down. Don't forget, we have the parts of the Broken One. We can find a solution on how to avoid the eyes of the Goddesses and build our rocke- Holy fuck, shit it hurts!"

Out of nowhere, an arrow whizzed by, impaling itself onto Duncan's left arm.

"Hehehe...tasty...pointy ear..."

From behind the bushes, a misshapen figure emerged, their faces completely out of balance. Licking their grey, bloated lips, the figure notches another arrow, before being impaled through the chest by a hardened vine.

"Shit, Urks!"

Snapping out of his maddened stupor, Simon, realising that they have encountered enemies, brandished his hammer. "Pointy...leave...for...oosh...*Shliewp*" Licking their lips, more and more Urks emerged from the shadows, brandishing a paraphernalia of misshapen, rusty weapons.

"Well, it's been nice knowing you, shortass..."

Warmth rose in Simon's chest. He regretted acting the way he did earlier, finding solace that in his final moments, a true friend was beside him.

"Let's rock!"

As the first Urk charged in, Simon crushed one of them, splitting their head into multiple tiny fragments. Realising that most were tier-2 in strength, Simon's heart filled itself with courage, allowing him to light himself ablaze with the spirits of his forefathers, unleashing death and destruction on the battlefield.

"Ahahahah! If I'm going down, I'm gonna take as many of you motherfuckers as I can!"

Howling with joy, Simon dove headfirst into the Urk horde, brandishing the Hammer of the Broken One left and right, reaping lives everywhere. Meanwhile, Duncan was busy dealing with the tier-3 and tier-4 Urks.

Seeing that there were too many Urks coming in, Duncan took a solemn breath.

"Evergreen Titanos!"

From behind him, wood began to arise, twisting, twirling, until a gigantic figure formed. Murmuring "Ignitious...", Duncan lit itself on fire. Lifting its gigantic fist, it smashed down upon a cluster of them, to their horror. As it landed, it caused a small explosion to occur, mushroom clouds forming in the air. The resulting shockwaves flattened the nearby trees, sending large boulders flying into the air, causing further casualties among the Urks.

Panting, Duncan propped himself using a nearby stick. He turned his head towards Simon, who was finishing his fights with the remaining lower-tier Urks. Seeing that he was fine, Duncan heaved a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to lie down, a red figure flew past him. As the dust cleared, Duncan's eyes widened in fear.

For it was Simon, heavily bleeding.

"Well, well, well, look at what we have here: a tier-4 high elf and a weakling of a dwarf. I must say, you shitheads have my thanks for destroying these weaklings, but unfortunately for you lot, these shitheads were my men, and I really needed them for an important battle. Since you've gotten rid of most of them, I shall do the same: crush you little turds into pieces."

Lifting a tree, Orkanos threw it right at Duncan's face. Eyes shrinking, Duncan dodged to the right, taking a very wounded Simon with him.

"Tch, looks like you've gotten lucky. Well, seems that it's run out..." Orkanus grinned, his mismatched teeth gleaming.

Duncan had trapped himself onto a vine, unable to move. He could only watch in despair as the red Urk lifted his axe, ready to swing it down. I wish I could say sorry to you...

Bbbrrrrrr

"Aaarrrrggghhh! My hand!"

Opening his eyes, he saw, standing right in front of him, a green figure, wielding what seemed to be a... chainsword!?

"Seems I'm not too late..."
