Chapter 26: Chapter 26: A New Beast King (II)

Kael stood up, staring down at Jor, the Alpha of the Silvertooth Pack. He had always been on the move, and at times he would accidentally end up in an area that was already controlled by a pack of beastmen, whether a wolf pack, a powerful tiger, or even a troop of gorillas.

When Jojo was still with him, his son’s safety had always been his priority, so he would withdraw and leave peacefully.

Even if he could fight them, he couldn’t guarantee Jojo’s safety, and he would never forgive himself if something happened to his son.

But this time, Jojo was not by his side, so he had no reason to hold back.

"How many wolves are in your pack, and how big is your territory?" Kael asked calmly.

Jor assumed he was considering joining the Silvertooth Pack. He evaluated the wolf beastman in front of him and nodded approvingly. This stray looked strong, and Jor had been observing the way Kael hunted the deer just moments ago.

Kael was agile and powerful. He could even hunt during thick fog, which meant he had plenty of experience as a lone wolf.

"I see that you’re interested. Very well. Silvertooth Pack has thirty five wolves, including the women, elderly, and pups. Our territory is all of Rantel Hill. There are no predators here except us," Jor explained proudly. "Now, state your name and I will bring you to the pack. I can even promote you to my beta if you’re strong enough to defeat the current one."

"A dead wolf doesn’t need to know my name," Kael replied arrogantly.

"What?!" Jor’s eyes widened. He quickly understood the meaning and growled, "You bastard! How dare you challenge me. I am Jor, the strongest warrior in the Silvertooth Pack!"

Kael’s crimson eyes glinted with malicious intent. He shifted into his wolf form. His fur grew thick and dark, but his red eyes shone through the darkness, and his bloodied fangs gleamed, ready to gore his enemy.

The moment Kael growled back, Jor felt fear from deep within, as if death itself had wrapped its fingers around his throat.

He stepped back instinctively, only to bump into one of the warriors he brought along as protection.

"What’s wrong, Master? You’re not scared of a mere stray, are you?" Torrest, his beta, asked. He had been vying for the Alpha position for years, but he could never defeat Jor. He had been biding his time, waiting for Jor to grow old and be forced to retire, or be killed by the younger generation.

Jor realized that backing off now would mean failure as a leader. His authority would be questioned, and he would be too ashamed to face his pack.

Thus, Jor forced himself to overcome his fear and signaled his pack to step back while he faced this stray alone, intending to prove his strength.

"I see you’re not sending your pack members first. Good. Saves me a lot of time," Kael said.

"Hmph! Stop acting mighty, stray. I’ll show you the strength of the strongest warrior in the Silvertooth Pack!"

Jor could be considered a veteran at this point. He wasn’t young anymore, but he was still vigorous. He sparred with his warriors every day and never lost. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

He had trained countless pups to become future warriors. In fact, he was so strong that no one in the pack dared to challenge him in a death match.

Thus, he bared his fangs and prepared to leap for a one-on-one death match with the lone wolf in front of him.

But before he could even jump, Kael moved—faster than Jor could track.

In a blur, Kael slashed across Jor’s face, blinding his eyes before disappearing back into the fog.

Jor wailed in pain, but he had no time to react. Kael emerged from the fog again and gored him by sinking his fangs into Jor’s neck.

Kael ripped his throat open in a single bite, subduing the Alpha of the Silvertooth Pack in barely five seconds.

Kael spat out the blood. He looked down at the fallen alpha and felt a strange satisfaction bloom inside him.

He had spent many years suppressing his power, pretending weakness, running away when he was with Jojo, and living the life of a lone wolf.

But truly, no beast could escape their instinct.

Kael, the Dusk Star, was fated to kill and conquer, and his body thrilled with pride and joy at the sight of his slain enemy.

He waited until Jor’s body twitched its last and snorted.

"Just an old timer who talked too big. He couldn’t even land a hit. He should’ve retired long ago," Kael mocked, stepping on the dead wolf’s skull with his paw.

Kael lifted his head and stared at the pack of wolf warriors who could only watch in shock as their powerful Alpha was killed in less than ten seconds.

"If any of you want the position of alpha, step forward. You may even come all at once, I don’t mind. I’ll rip all your heads off and return them to your families," Kael said mercilessly.

The wolves whimpered in fear.

All beastmen shared the same instinct; to worship and fear strength. After witnessing Jor’s fate, none of them dared to fight this lone wolf.

They trembled and quickly lowered their posture in submission before Kael, including Torrest, the pack’s beta.

In fact, Torrest nearly fainted after witnessing Kael’s overwhelming power.

No, there was no way he could defeat such a monster, not when he couldn’t even beat Jor.

Kael scoffed at their display and heard the voice inside him speak;

’Good. We can start by taking over this pack, then expand to other beastmen packs and tribes. You’ll become the King of Beasts in no time, Dusk Star.’

’And I can send them to search for Jojo,’ Kael added silently, not forgetting his true purpose, at least for now.

Kael looked over his new pack with shining crimson eyes and declared:

"I am Kael, the King of the Beasts. Submit if you still cherish your life."
