Chapter 233: Chapter 233: A Bloody Skirmish (III)

The human soldiers were completely at these nimble flying squirrels’ mercy as their trusty bayonets were taken away. They pulled their short swords, but Jeanne, who had been flying above these soldiers for a while, instructed, "Back off! Our job is done!"

With one order, all the flying squirrel beastmen flew away before any of the soldiers could injure them with their short swords. The human general felt so helpless that all he could do was stare at the towering elephant beastman, waiting for him to strike that giant mace and create another fissure.

But he didn’t.

He simply stood strong, protecting the main gate. Then, a beautiful woman suddenly jumped so high that she leaped across the elephant’s head and then commanded her people.

"MY KIN, SLAUGHTER THEM ALL!"

What came next was an absolute nightmare, because a horde of cheetah beastmen rushed through the gate and shifted into their cheetah form mid-sprint before lunging at each soldier one by one.

"Arrghh!""No! No! Let me go!""Urrrkkk!""General! Save us—Ack!"

The cheetahs were so fast and deadly that all the human soldiers could do was flail their short swords a few times before they got mauled by the cheetahs.

The general finally shifted his gaze toward the stupid crown prince who forced them to go on a ’skirmish’ with minimum equipment and no information about their enemies.

He underestimated the beastmen too much, not realizing that these beastmen would always have a physical advantage over humans. Now that they were united and could coordinate their attacks, the human soldiers were decimated and completely at their mercy.

Crown Prince Ludwig’s body was shaking to the point that his armor made rattling sounds.

"W-w-w-what is this? What is happening?!" Crown Prince Ludwig said as he looked at his dead soldiers with horror in his eyes. None of the soldiers were able to injure a cheetah before they got mauled.

And these cheetahs also knew to bite right at the neck, making sure that it would be a one-hit kill for all of them.

The crown prince knew he had to rise up and fight with his people. But at this point, all he wanted was to run away, back to his father, and report everything. He wanted to be hugged by his father and be told that he was doing a good job, even though deep down he knew that he had screwed up badly this time.

Then a cheetah finally rushed at him after she killed the soldier nearby.

"Hiii—!" Crown Prince Ludwig shrieked when the cheetah was about to reach him. He couldn’t even raise his sword right now, unlike that moment when he boldly shot a bullet toward Grishaw.

However, the human general quickly rushed toward Crown Prince Ludwig and lunged his sword toward the attacking cheetah.

The cheetah was forced to back off when sensing real danger from the general.

The general stood right in front of the crown prince and said, "There’s still a chance to run away, Ludwig. Go and tell your father everything that you saw today, because you’re the only one he can trust, and only our king can avenge us all."

Ludwig finally snapped out of his fear. He got up and hurriedly turned around. He bolted immediately, not even thanking the general who saved his life.

The general sighed. "He’s not like his father at all. What an absolute waste."

He stared at the cheetah in front of him, and soon enough, there were four more cheetahs surrounding him.

They were blazingly fast, and the general was too old to fight them all at once.

Nevertheless, he had been in many wars and never backed down. He clutched his sword and prepared his stance as he looked to his left and right. He was the last man standing right now, because every single soldier that was deployed for this skirmish was either dead after falling into the fissure or mauled by the cheetahs.

He knew that his fate had been sealed. It was impossible to fight these cheetahs alone. But he had resigned himself to his fate and wouldn’t mind dying after defending his country.

"COME, ALL OF YOU! RAAAARRGHH!" The general gave his last war cry before he was absolutely decimated by the cheetahs who mauled him until he was nothing but bits of meat.

"Oohh, I didn’t expect those cheetahs to be so vicious. Most of them were pretty sweet when I talked to them in the capital," Leah commented. "Most cheetah men are helpful and shy, while the women are sweet and like to chat."

"They don’t look dangerous anymore inside the Beast Kingdom because they get everything they need there. They have safety, and if they need food, they can just work for it or hunt outside if necessary," Marik commented. "Cheetah beastmen are generally weaker compared to other cats, but they are the fastest. Their tribe wouldn’t stand a chance against other cats in the wild, and most of them have to fight in groups so they have a chance against bigger cats."

"But since Kael has provided them with safety, they don’t need to be so guarded and suspicious of their surroundings."

Marik was a fair man—he would give credit to Kael because he had successfully created a running kingdom that was developing rapidly.

In only a few decades, the Beast Kingdom would definitely grow into the biggest and strongest kingdom on the continent, simply because they were self-sufficient, they had naturally powerful soldiers who could become even stronger once the Beast Kingdom made their own weapons, and they obeyed their king to a fault.

It also didn’t help that their king, the Dusk Star, was an immortal being. So this kingdom would never lose its power as long as Kael didn’t go insane.

But would Marik let that happen?

Of course not.

He wanted to strike now because it would be impossible to snatch Sisi from Kael’s side if the Beast Kingdom became too powerful.

Marik turned around and said, "We’re done here. Let’s go back with your cowardly prince and wait for the real war."

"Sure thing, Boss~."
