Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 223: Ignite the War (III)
Marik played right through the Crown Prince. He knew that humans were generally a paranoid species. They were weak when alone, but they could unite easily, and strength was in their numbers. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
They were able to create a big civilization because they worked hand-in-hand and squashed all the competition around them just so they could maintain their civilization.
So, Marik made sure the Crown Prince knew how dangerous it would be to leave the Beast Kingdom alone until they were too difficult to contain.
If the beastmen were united and worked just like humans, it would only take a year or less to completely destroy Barion Kingdom.
Crown Prince Ludwig turned toward the doctors behind him and instructed, "Make sure to give the best treatment to these two. If possible, make sure they can walk again by tomorrow morning, and we can set out on a campaign against that Beast Kingdom. I want to see if we have to suppress them or maybe destroy them completely."
"Understood, Your Highness!"
Ludwig smiled perfunctorily as he turned toward Marik again. "I am very sorry for your loss. But I’ll make sure to avenge your caravan. You’ll have to bring us to the Beast Kingdom again though."
"I-I can! I know the way!" Marik nodded. "Please, Your Highness, you have to kill them all, or else nobody will dare to cross Roc Forest as long as the beastmen are still raiding all the merchants!"
"Mm, you should rest for now. I’ll prepare everything," Crown Prince Ludwig said before he left the ward.
The doctors made sure that Leah and Marik got the best treatment a human could get.
Leah felt much better after all of her self-inflicted injuries were healed. She felt invigorated and was ready for another act by tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Marik, who looked weak before, suddenly sat on his bed, staring at the moon from the window, and complimented his accomplice. "You’re doing good so far, Leah."
"Oh! Thank you, boss! But the real pretender is you. I didn’t know that you could act like a weakling, even though you can kill everyone, including the Crown Prince, in a flash if you want."
"I can also kill all of Kael’s soldiers with ease. But I can’t kill him. He is... a demigod," Marik admitted. He was thinking of Sisi and how Sisi saved him.
At first, he thought that Sisi must have been tortured inside the Beast Kingdom, so he simply wanted to infiltrate the palace and then take Sisi with him to escape to Jing Forest.
But he was so wrong.
Sisi was treated like a queen and given the best of everything.
She also seemed to enjoy her life, to the point that she could spend her time with Kael and Jojo while forgetting about him, the tiger beastman she saved twice, completely.
It hurt his pride as a man, knowing that he could never be on par with Kael, and he decided to go with this plan to destroy Kael’s kingdom and then blackmail that bastard Dusk Star to kill himself in exchange for Jojo and Sisi’s safety.
Marik knew that it was dishonorable of him, but he couldn’t think of another way, and he desperately wanted that life with Sisi and Jojo in Jing Forest.
Marik turned toward Leah and said, "Remember to commit to our plan. We have to pretend that we’re husband and wife. The way you look at that prince is too obvious that you really like him."
"I can’t help that, you know? He is so damn handsome!" Leah pouted. "If you’re jealous, you should say so. I’ll try not to flirt with him."
"I’m serious."
Leah’s "cute" pout vanished once she realized that Marik was angry.
She felt wronged because she hadn’t done anything wrong so far. But she also couldn’t deny that she planned to seduce the Crown Prince once everything went their way.
Since they planned to kill the Beast King, and Marik didn’t seem to want her, wasn’t it better for her to go for the second-best option? She wouldn’t mind marrying Crown Prince Ludwig and becoming the future queen of Barion Kingdom instead.
"Boss, I don’t really understand what you want from this war though. Is it really just to kill the Beast King?" Leah asked.
Of course, Marik would never tell Leah about his true reason, because this crazy woman was a useful tool for him for now, and he didn’t want her to ruin their plan.
"As I told you before, I have a long grudge against that cursed bastard and want nothing but his head. I’ll kidnap Jojo and Sisi and then force that man to kill himself in exchange for their safety."
"But surely you won’t let Jojo and Sisi stay safe, right?" Leah winked. "How about you hand them to me after you kill Kael? I’ll torture them until they are nothing but skin and bones."
Marik’s eyes glinted dangerously as he tried hard to suppress his rage.
He would never allow anyone or anything to hurt his beloved family and had already planned to kill Leah with his own hands once his plan had succeeded.
But that dangerous glint only lasted a second before he turned nonchalant again in front of Leah and lay on the bed, continuing his weak act.
"Go to sleep, Leah. We’re going to have a long day tomorrow," Marik said. "We will travel back to the Beast Kingdom by morning."
"What makes you so sure about that, boss? What if the Crown Prince doesn’t think the risk is that serious in the end?"
"Humans are fragile and insecure by nature. They will scramble to create a small army to attack the Beast Kingdom with the slightest provocation."
"But wouldn’t it be better to let them form a bigger army?" Leah asked. "So they will have a chance to win against the beastmen."
"No, it’s better to let them send a small army that will get massacred by the soldiers in the Beast Kingdom," Marik said sinisterly. "Once they realize the sheer power of the Beast Kingdom, Barion Kingdom will send all of their manpower just to fight against them, probably aided by the Jing Empire as well."
