Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Darling Sisi (III)

The faeries were listening to their darling’s narration and couldn’t help but sympathize with the little wolf boy.

Faeries were mischievous and liked to pull pranks on adults, but they genuinely enjoyed playing with children and taking care of them.

Their eyes began to water as they sobbed while staring at Jojo, who was busy in his own world, eating grapes while waiting for Sisi to finish her bathroom break.

His golden eyes were beautiful, yet scary. They carried the regal aura of a king, but also an unknown power that might be too devastating for anyone to bear.

But to see such golden eyes in the body of a small boy—those golden eyes evoked nothing but sadness, because no child should bear something so... scary within him.

Crush Tutu was quite knowledgeable about Roc Forest and its inhabitants, because her grandpa told her many things and allowed her to read books meant for the elders.

And she had heard about a pair of ominous curses that were passed through generations in Roc Forest. They were meant to carry the burden of all the negative energy under the soil. All negative energy needed to be cleansed, or else the faeries wouldn’t survive under such corrupted land.

And if the faeries died off, then the entire forest would cease to exist as well, turning into a huge, uninhabitable desert.

"Those golden eyes..." Crush Tutu muttered. She flew closer toward her darling and asked, "Darling, do you know about... the Dusk and Dawn Star?"

Sisi raised her brows. "So, you know about them?"

Crush Tutu nodded. "I think... Jojo is the Dawn Star of this era..."

Both Jan Keke and Bold Dodo tilted their heads at the same time, as they had no idea what their friend was talking about. But Sisi’s reaction showed that she already knew about it, because she only showed a thin smile.

"Yes, he is the Dawn Star of this era, and the Beast King in this kingdom is the Dusk Star," Sisi laid out the truth, knowing there was no point in hiding it. "You are quite smart, little faerie. You must’ve studied well in faerie land."

Crush Tutu blushed happily. "I—I like to read..."

But that blush didn’t last long as she asked, "But, darling, my Grandpa said that we shouldn’t get close to the Dusk and Dawn Star. They are very dangerous, and their negative energy doesn’t match ours!"

"I’ve known him earlier than I knew about the faeries. He is more important than my life," Sisi replied firmly. "Besides, he has always been a good kid."

"Is that possible for a cursed being to be good?" Crush Tutu asked.

"How about you fly around him and talk to him? I’m sure that he can hear you," Sisi suggested. "Then you’ll know why I love him so much."

The trio of faeries looked at each other and nodded in unison as they flew toward the wolf boy and circled around him.

"Jojo, can you hear us?"

"Ah?" Everything around him was blurry black or blurry white most of the time since he went blind, but Jojo’s ears were fully functional and had become even sharper because they were now his main source of detecting his surroundings.

His ears twitched, trying to catch the unknown voice around him.

"We are faeries! We’re visiting a good boy like you to play!"

"Faeries?!" Jojo was surprised at first, then his face brightened as if he had just obtained a precious gift. "Faeries, are you there? M-my name is Jojo! I’ve been a good boy for my Daddy and Sisi!"

The trio of faeries were surprised because this cursed child could actually hear them. Only the pure-hearted could see or hear them, and since most kids would develop some sort of ambition or desire as they grew older, they lost their pure hearts—and also their ability to see the faeries.

The faeries truly thought that Jojo could never see them since he was cursed at birth. But they were wrong!

Despite being the strongest, Bold Dodo was actually the softest among his friends. So he drew near and landed on Jojo’s shoulder.

"My name is Bold Dodo, I’m your friend!"

Then Jan Keke followed, landing on the other shoulder. "And I am Jan Keke! We are your friends!"

"Hehe, you have funny names like Sisi and me!" Jojo said. "Nice to meet you, Dodo, Keke, and um... who is the other one? I heard another voice before!"

Dodo and Keke looked at Crush Tutu, who was hovering right in front of the pair of golden eyes, then slowly flew up to sit on top of his head. "My name is Crush Tutu... we are your friends, Jojo."

"Ohh! Hello, Tutu, nice to meet you!"

Sisi finally walked back to the swing and leaned against the tree while watching Jojo talk with the faeries.

Jojo’s nose sniffed the air a few times and said, "Why didn’t you say anything, Sisi? I thought you were still on your bathroom break!"

"Oh? You know that I’m here already?"

"Yes! I know your smell," Jojo claimed. "Um, I—I am talking with faeries right now. But Daddy said that adults cannot see faeries."

"But don’t worry, Sisi. If they want to say something, then I’ll tell you about it!"

Sisi smiled at him and crossed her arms. "Well, you don’t have to do that. Because I can hear them too. They are my friends after all..."

"Yes, Jojo, Sisi is our darling!" Jan Keke said.

"Dar... ling?"

"Sisi is our ruler," Crush Tutu replied. "She told us that you have been a good boy, so we should get to know you better too!"

"A ruler? Oh, like Daddy?" Jojo asked.

"Yup, that means Sisi is our queen! We’re here to find her!" Bold Dodo added. "And bring her home, of course!"

Jojo was happy at first, but when the faeries mentioned taking Sisi with them, the boy became nervous instantly and shook his head vehemently.

"No-no! Sisi cannot leave! This is her home with Jojo and Daddy!"
