Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 194: A Mission to Meet Their Darling! (II)
"Okay!" Vatra finally closed the door, and the deafening snore dissipated a little.
Vatra giggled when he saw the faeries taking a deep breath after experiencing the awful snoring of his father.
"We’ll just wait until he wakes up here, then go with him to the palace. Thank you for your help, good Vatra!" Crush Tutu said.
"Un! You’re welcome, faeries!"
Vatra saw the faeries hop off his hair and then sit together on top of a drawer next to his father’s bedroom door.
He felt proud because he could see the faeries, since his father said that faeries only showed up in front of good children.
Vatra turned around and returned to his bedroom, but before he entered, he said, "Come and visit me often, faeries!"
The trio of faeries nodded and waved their hands, but once Vatra entered his bedroom, their smiles disappeared.
They felt sad, because for every child they played with, they would always part ways once the child was five or six years old.
Because they left their toddlerhood phase and would gain some adult desires: lust, ambition, wickedness, possessiveness, and many more.
The faeries were naturally free from worldly desires, as their goal in life was simply to take care of the forest and their darling. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
In fact, even their darling could not feel love unless that love was very pure—the type of love that would not disappear even if it could kill you.
"Let’s hope that our darling is not in love with that Beast King," Crush Tutu said. "I don’t want her to end up like our previous darling..."
Jan Keke and Bold Dodo remembered their previous darling—the current darling’s late mother—and the tragic fate that ended her supposedly long life.
The somber mood between the trio of faeries made them silent as they waited for their ride to the palace.
Once the big, snoring owl woke up and rushed to do something inside his bedroom, the trio of faeries prepared themselves.
Then the door opened, and the big owl yelled, "Honey, I’m going to work! No need to cook for me, I’ll just eat at the palace hall!"
He seemed to be in a hurry as he tried to put on his shoes.
"Alright, it’s time, Dodo, Keke!" Crush Tutu gave them the signal as they all aimed for the feather on his nape. "One... two... jump!"
Vestor frowned when he felt an itch on his nape. Maybe he didn’t groom himself properly after waking up, but he was late for work, and there were so many documents that needed to be checked after Ruela was given a noble title.
Thus, he ignored the itch and then flew out of his house. He headed straight to the palace and made a hoot-hoot sound as he landed to signal the guards that the nation advisor, Vestor, had entered the palace grounds.
"Ah, welcome, Sir Vestor," one guard greeted.
Vestor smiled amicably. "Where is the Beast King? He needs to review some documents tonight."
"The Beast King just finished his dinner with Mistress Sisi in the Queen’s courtyard and headed to the throne room. I think he’s waiting for you, Sir!" the guard reported.
The smile on Vestor’s face faltered. He was not someone prone to tardiness, but all the workload from yesterday had exhausted him so much that he overslept.
"Alright, I’ll head there immediately!"
The trio of faeries quickly jumped off Vestor’s nape once they got the information they needed.
"Guys, did you hear that? Mistress Sisi is in the Queen’s courtyard!" Crush Tutu said.
"But where is the Queen’s courtyard?" Jan Keke asked as she looked at her surroundings. "This place is so wide and there are so many strong beastmen with weapons. I’m a little scared..."
"Hey, our darling is here! We can’t go back until we find her!" Bold Dodo snapped some sense into his friend. "It’s okay! Dodo is here, I’ll protect you two!"
"Dodo... while you are strong, the size difference between you and these beastmen is..." Jan Keke was about to argue, but Crush Tutu cut her short.
"Okay, let’s not focus on that. Let me sense some plant manipulation underground," Crush Tutu said as she flew down and placed her palm on the earth.
She could feel all the strange twisted trees at the summit right behind the palace, then sensed a slight movement near the training ground. But she actually sensed someone manipulating the plants right now!
Crush Tutu closed her eyes and then—
"There!" Tutu pointed in one direction with great confidence. "Our Mistress is in there!"
Bold Dodo and Jan Keke turned their heads at the same time and saw a beautifully crafted gate with two strong guards holding spears at the front.
"Oh! That gate looks very beautiful. Our darling must be treated very well here!" Keke said as her wings flapped. "Let’s go, I can’t wait to meet her!"
Crush Tutu and Bold Dodo followed Jan Keke from behind, because she was the fastest among them.
They flew past the guards, who couldn’t see faeries, and looked around inside the Queen’s courtyard.
The courtyard was filled with maids and guards who were doing their jobs, so the faeries looked around for any sign of their darling.
However, the Queen’s courtyard was spacious, and it was difficult to navigate around. So they decided to just wait and listen to the maids’ conversations.
They noticed one older raccoon maid who seemed to be in charge of everything and continued to follow her around until she pointed at a tray full of food on the kitchen table. "Bring this to Mistress Sisi’s chamber. Our Crown Prince often gets hungry at night and wants some snacks."
"Oh, but I saw Mistress Sisi in the pavilion, Head Maid," another maid mentioned. "She’s busy playing with our Crown Prince. Should I deliver this to her room or the pavilion?"
"Hmm, to the pavilion then. The air is getting warmer, so Mistress Sisi must be taking her time in there," Diane said.
"Got it!"
The faeries looked at each other and decided to jump onto the smaller maid’s head and follow her as she went to the pavilion.
