Chapter 180: Chapter 180: A King’s Declaration (II)

The capital square was absolutely jam-packed to the brim with a bunch of beastmen from various species. They were waiting for their king to appear and announce that the spring festival would start soon.

This was the first spring festival inside the Beast Kingdom, but these small beastmen tribes had been celebrating the coming of spring in their own ways.

Some would start praying to the Moon Goddess before sharing whatever grains they had left from the winter stockpile.

Some would start picking all the flowers and decorating their tribes’ houses to cheer everyone up after such a painfully long winter.

Thus, the Beast King decided to do both in one. He had already ordered everyone to start decorating their houses with spring flowers.

There would be dancers, singers, and whole theatrical performances by specialized beastmen artists.

And most importantly, the Beast King would share all the remaining grains from the kingdom’s granary.

Everyone’s faces were full of joy, because this would be the first time they started spring without any deaths except for those who simply died of old age.

It was all thanks to the Beast King’s protection. There were no more wars between tribes, and no conflicts over land territory, because everything was owned by their king in the end.

Safety was all some beastmen tribes needed to be productive, while other tribes were glad they didn’t need to go to constant war and suffer deaths.

On top of that, since everyone was obligated to live together, trade began to grow inside the kingdom.

Unique beastmen, such as the deer beastmen, wouldn’t mind handing out the antlers they usually shed just to get something like wool from the lamb beastmen, and there were many more instances like that.

In fact, some beastmen had already set up their own stores, selling their specialty products, or offering their expertises, as if they were emulating human civilization.

These were just regular primitive beastmen tribes about half a year ago before Kael conquered them, and now they were able to live in harmony with other tribes.

Of course, there were scuffles here and there, but not big enough to cause war and deaths.

All of it was thanks to their fear and reverence toward the Beast King.

"The king is here!"

"It’s the king!"

"Look, our King is with the woman from before and his son!"

"Glory to the King!"

"Glory to the Beast King!"

Sisi was impressed with how these beastmen worshipped Kael. They all chanted his name in praise and worship, and quickly accepted Sisi and Jojo as his most important family members.

They chanted their praises for a good while until Kael raised his hand, signaling them to quiet down as he started his speech.

As the noise died down, Kael began speaking:

"My dearest subjects, this is our first spring festival as one unified nation of beastmen under my rule.

We have survived a long, harsh winter together, and we will continue to survive together.

Fear not. As long as you are under my protection, you will be free from harm, and all of your tribes’ activities will be done in peace.

However, I am also here to announce my future queen and the Crown Prince of the Beast Kingdom."

Sisi gulped nervously as Kael began introducing her first.

"This breathtakingly gorgeous woman is Sisi. She saved and took care of my son when we were separated, so she has the good qualities a mother should have," Kael paused for a moment and then declared, "That’s why I plan to make her my new queen, the Beast Queen."

There were plenty of audible gasps in the crowd, but most were simply stunned into silence.

Sisi knew their thoughts, though.

Most of them were probably questioning Kael’s decision to make a human the Beast Queen, since most beastmen seemed to look down on humans—at least that was what she heard from Marik.

On top of that, there must be a few rumors about her circulating around as a witch, since everyone in the palace had witnessed how she twisted and moved trees as if they were made of clay. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

But since Kael had announced to his subjects that she would be the future Beast Queen, the die had been cast, and she had to improvise on what to do now.

Did she actually want the role?

No.

She was never the type who wanted to rule over others. She was more of a hermit who simply wanted to live in peace.

But Jojo had become a big part of her life, and if it was for Jojo’s well-being, then she would be willing to do anything—even throw her life away.

Thus, she didn’t say anything as Kael introduced her to the masses.

There were whispers here and there, but nobody dared to protest Sisi being named the future Beast Queen.

Part of it was because they were scared of Kael.

But the other part was because Sisi was a breathtaking beauty that even the beastmen couldn’t deny.

Kael was mildly satisfied with the response. Had anyone dared to voice their disagreement, he would have killed that person on the spot to make an example of those who dared defy his will.

But it seemed they still worshipped him as an unbeatable wolf demigod.

After that, he finally introduced Jojo, who sat on Sisi’s lap.

He ruffled his son’s hair and said, "This one is my son, Jojo. As you can see, he has a pair of golden eyes, in contrast to my crimson eyes.

His golden eyes are a sign that he will be much stronger than I am when he grows up. So you do not need to worry about the future of our kingdom, because the Beast Kingdom has a powerful heir! The Beast Kingdom will usher in new glory once my son takes the crown!"

"Woooaaahh!"

"Glory to the Crown Prince!"

"Glory to the Crown Prince!"

Jojo was a little scared by all the noise around him, so he hugged Sisi’s neck even tighter. "Sisi, are they mad at me?"
