Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 169: A Smile That Intimidates An Elephant
Hearing that instruction, the four beastmen from the Silvertooth Pack moved quickly. The two guards hurriedly grabbed Leah’s arms, while one maid grabbed her by the back of the hair and yanked her head up, forcing Leah to stare at their Mistress.
Leah was forced to meet Sisi’s gaze. The moment she saw the indifference in Sisi’s eyes—as if she were nothing more than an insect—Leah’s ego flared.
She knew her fate was sealed, but she refused to be looked down on as if she were nothing.
Yet before she could say anything, Sisi seemed to read her thoughts and said, "Don’t give me that defiant look, as if you still have something to say, Leah. You are nothing but an insect in front of me now."
"Besides, you have no way to defend yourself now, because everything has gone exactly as I expected," Sisi continued, explaining what she knew about Leah right in front of everyone, so they could see what awaited those who dared to harm the little prince.
"You took the chance to kill me and the little prince when I fainted, but Ruela saved us, and you chose to attack her before she could make any noise," Sisi recounted. "However, you were too late. She already cried out for help before you could land the final blow. That’s why the wound on her neck was deep—but not deep enough to kill her."
"I knew you would panic when I told you we were simply waiting for Ruela to wake up and name you as the attacker. And I knew you would create a large distraction to draw the guards away from the doctor’s office."
Sisi suddenly smiled sweetly as she stared at the helpless Leah. But that sweetness only made her more terrifying—to Leah, and to everyone else present.
Even the hardened General Pell felt a chill down his spine. Bathed in moonlight, Sisi looked overwhelmingly beautiful, yet sinister, as if immense danger lurked behind that beauty.
There was only one outlier—Garou stared at Mistress Sisi with awe. He had never seen a woman so breathtaking in his life, and his young blood stirred with an almost irresistible urge to draw closer and closer, so he could—
Unfortunately, Garou’s thoughts were cut short when Sisi continued speaking.
"But you failed to realize one thing, Leah. Ruela’s accusation alone would not be enough to convict you."
Leah’s eyes widened. "W-what do you mean?"
"I cannot use Ruela’s testimony alone," Sisi said calmly, "because I cannot be certain whether the two of you were still working together. After all, you shared a bond close to sisterhood, did you not?"
Leah didn’t understand what Sisi was implying, but she continued listening.
"So, to ensure I caught the right perpetrator, I provoked you," Sisi continued. "I told Diane to watch your movements, because I knew you would act."
Her smile widened as she watched despair creep into Leah’s eyes. It was satisfying to see this ambitious woman to be defeated by her own greed.
Yes, Sisi wasn’t truly an angelic person, or at least she didn’t think so.
Because she was also capable of great cruelty, especially when Jojo’s safety was involved.
"Since I couldn’t sentence you for a crime with no witnesses," Sisi paused, "I simply ensured you would commit one."
"And you did so perfectly. The maids saw you leave the quarters and enter the kitchen. The guards saw you sneak behind the main building. And finally, Diane and the guards she brought witnessed you pouring gasoline and dropping the torch."
"Everyone here witnessed your crime, so we don’t need Ruela’s testimony anymore when there are dozens of beastmen ready to testify against you."
Sisi’s smile vanished instantly.
"So you will not be punished for attacking Ruela," she declared coldly. "You will be punished for attempting to murder the little Crown Prince. A regicide."
Sisi turned to General Pell. "General, would you mind telling me the punishment for an attempted regicide?"
"Death by hanging in the capital square, Mistress," General Pell replied firmly.
"Oh my, how convenient," Sisi said lightly. "I remember there will be a spring festival held in the capital square tomorrow, right?"
"Yes."
"Then why don’t you execute this woman in front of everyone," Sisi suggested. "So they will know not to mess with our little prince. He might be small and young, but he is the de facto crown prince of this kingdom. If any of you get funny ideas about replacing him or manipulating him, then I’ll make sure you pay for it—just like this treacherous maid."
Everyone gulped nervously, knowing that Mistress Sisi wasn’t playing around when she said that. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
When she first introduced herself, she claimed she was merely the crown prince’s caretaker.
But she acted far more like a mother than a caretaker. She bared her fangs to intimidate everyone, discarding her ’sweet’ appearance to ensure that the little prince was respected despite his age.
"That is a wise decision, Mistress," General Pell said, nodding. "This will also serve as a warning to civilians beyond the palace walls."
"I’m glad we on the same page, General," Sisi replied while smiling at him. But the General lowered his head, part of it was out of respect, while the rest was out of fear in front of the future queen.
"Take her to the prison. She will be executed tomorrow."
"Yes, Mistress."
Just as General Pell prepared to issue the order, a small voice echoed from inside the chamber.
"Sisi... Sisi, where are you?!" Jojo’s voice reached everyone present. "Sisi, come back please, I’m scared!"
Sisi stiffened. She didn’t want anyone to know about his blindness, at least not until she met Kael, so she could concoct a medicine for the boy.
"All of you may disperse," she said firmly. "Take her to the prison and carry out the execution tomorrow. I want to hear the good news by the time the spring festival ends."
"Yes, Mistress!"
With that, Sisi turned and hurried back into the chamber, knowing Jojo must be panicking in the darkness.
