Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 163: Under Sisi’s Care (I)
Hours passed since Sisi fainted after exerting all of her strength to catch Jojo before he hit the wall. She didn’t know how long she had lost consciousness this time, but the moment she opened her eyes, she felt a weight on her stomach.
Sisi looked down and was relieved to see Jojo sleeping on top of her. She truly thought something bad would have happened to him once she closed her eyes, and she regretted not being powerful enough to stop Kael before.
She caressed Jojo’s head slowly. The boy grunted a few times before opening his eyes.
Sisi was surprised to see his golden eyes. He stared at her emptily before asking, "Sisi, are you awake?"
Sisi sensed that something was wrong with the way Jojo seemed to be staring at nothing. So she asked, "Jojo... can you see me?"
The boy shook his head. "I can’t see, Sisi."
"What?!" Sisi immediately grabbed his cheeks and checked his golden pupils. "H-how could that be? Did your Daddy hurt you when I blacked out?" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Jojo shook his head. "Mm, I don’t remember much. But my eyes were so itchy while I kept crying, and then... uhm... it’s just all black. I can’t see anything..."
Then Jojo immediately asked the most important question. "W-what about you, Sisi? Did Daddy do anything to you? He... he left after I couldn’t see anymore, and told me to protect you while he’s away."
"He... he said that he’s not himself and needs to hide somewhere before he hurts you."
Aside from her exposed upper body, Sisi didn’t feel anything else, so she guessed that Kael had snapped out of it seconds before he touched her down there.
It was a huge relief, but that relief was quickly washed away by worry about Jojo’s eyes.
How could Kael leave Jojo alone when he was blind?! He was already vulnerable, leaving him like this was a like a disaster waiting to happen!
Jojo sensed that Sisi was angry from the way her chest heaved up and down. Whatever made her angry must have been related to his father.
"Sisi, I couldn’t see before. But I felt that Daddy must be really sad about what he did to you..." Jojo muttered. "Please don’t be angry at him..."
He didn’t know if Sisi would be kind enough to forgive his father’s sin. But Jojo was still hellbent on making Sisi his mother.
"I will see what I can do once we meet him again," Sisi said coldly. "He made too many mistakes today, but the worst one was leaving you alone while you’re blind."
Jojo was about to tell Sisi about the unknown attacker, but he quickly swallowed his words. He knew Sisi would explode if she found out and would blame his father even more.
’Wuu... why is it so hard to make Sisi my Mommy...’ the boy couldn’t help but lament.
All he wanted was a good family with his father and Sisi as his mother, but even Jojo knew that if things continued like this, the chance was slim to none. His wish for a dream family would crash and burn before he knew it.
"Jojo... uhm... Jojo is okay, Sisi. I can’t see, but I can hear you just fine!" Jojo tried to stay positive, but it only made Sisi feel even sadder.
She knew Jojo must be terrified about his blindness. And she also knew it had something to do with the curse, because she had seen the same kind of "shining eyes" in Kael.
But Kael’s eyes were crimson, while Jojo’s were golden.
Sisi wanted to find a cure for Jojo’s blindness immediately, but before that, she needed to meet Kael and learn the details of this curse.
For now, she didn’t want to sound panicked—even though she was screaming in terror internally.
She looked to her left and saw food prepared neatly, most likely by Diane. Sisi immediately recognized Diane’s habit of cutting everything into small pieces, since Jojo was still growing and Sisi was a human without a strong jaw to rip meat like carnivore beastmen.
"Jojo... what happened while I was unconscious?" Sisi asked. "Your Daddy told you to protect me, didn’t he?"
"Mm..." Jojo nodded weakly.
"Then how did Diane manage to come in and serve us food?"
Jojo had been trying his best to hide the information about the attacker. But under Sisi’s questioning, the usually tough boy became timid, like a little pup overly obedient to his mother.
In the end, Jojo told everything—from the unknown attacker, to Ruela saving them, and Diane coming in afterward.
But since Jojo was blind, he didn’t know the attacker’s identity.
He rubbed his hips and muttered, "It hurts so much when that evil person attacked me, Sisi. He kicked me many times, but... but I won’t let you go! I promised Daddy to protect you, so I will!"
For the first time in her life, Sisi’s gaze darkened so much that Jojo would have cried if he could see it.
Once again, Jojo became the victim of what happened here, and Sisi wasn’t able to protect him when he needed her most.
"Wait here. I still have some ointment from this morning," Sisi said as she carefully placed Jojo beside her and got up.
"S-Sisi, where are you going?" Jojo asked, panicking when he couldn’t feel her. "Sisi! I-I will be good! Please don’t leave me!"
"Calm down, Jojo. I’m here," Sisi said, holding his hand. "I’m just getting ointment for you, and then I’ll change my dress."
"Umm... sorry..." Jojo muttered as he slowly let go. He sat obediently, though his wolf ears twitched at every sound.
He mapped Sisi’s movements—from the bed to the wardrobe—by sound alone.
Unfortunately, Sisi hadn’t finished her new dress yet, so she had to wear the clothes provided by the palace.
She returned and sat beside Jojo with the ointment, then gently applied a generous amount to his bruises.
The boy winced a few times from the pain but kept his mouth shut, which prompted Sisi to be gentler.
